Your dreams, what are they like?

I dream of electric sheep.

Are you an android?

I usually can't recall or even know if I dreamed or not. I did have a pretty intense nightmare about the Ministry of Love the a week past. Out of the blue. So I went to check out the book and it's been in my head since.

I keep having a recurring dream where I accidentally leave my iPhone in my pocket when I jump into a pool or the ocean, then proceed to freak out. Half the time it still works!

I usually don't recall my dreams, but the last few days I have. I had a really sad one the other day. The entire world knew they would all die once they went to sleep at night. It was the weirdest, most surreal things ever. Everyone was having really big, somber get-togethers, and the TV was playing nothing but best of shows. In particular I think I remember espn throwing together shows about the best superbowls and all that, and the commentators were pretty teary eyed. Everyone was giving hugs to everyone else in the get-togethers. And then, slowly, everyone went to sleep. There wasn't even some notion of preventing the inevitable and trying to stay awake. Everyone just went to sleep at a decent, though still kind of late hour. I woke up after I went to sleep in the dream.

When I was little I had a lot of recurring dreams. I had one where I was trying to fly. I'd jump down my stairs and land face first on the floor every night. Also for a while had a recurring nightmare of being strapped on a conveyer belt with a saw that would cut off my dick. That was not fun.

Reading through the thread I got reminded of a reoccurring dream I have quite often.

I'm at a party at a house that I have only been to once in my life when I was a little kid. I walk out to a balcony area and I realize that everyone at the party is wearing the same mask, a creepy face that looks all warped. As soon as I realize everyone is wearing the same mask and all staring at me now the dream "folds over". It's hard to explain the fold over, it's like the dream is taking place on these green fabric sort of like astral-turf and it suddenly is folding over the dream itself, and then the dream ends.

Been having this damn dream since I was a young kid.

A bewildering mix of the banal and the surreal. The strangest thing is how the surreal is so blithely accepted by everyone in the dream, myself included.

"Have you bathed the blue Rhino yet? It's nearly time for lunch, after all."

"thanks, I nearly forgot." (bathes blue rhino)

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realise it was "let's be pendantic" day.

If I must explain myself to you then what I meant was, all these dream interpretation books that say certain things in dreams mean something specific, eg "Rivers symbolise your journey through life", are all bollocks. That is what I meant by dreams don't mean anything.
Lol wut, you made an extremely presumptuous statement that dreams do not mean anything, I think they do. Its not my job to assume youre talking about authors claiming all dreams boil down to some cheesy inspirational bullshit.

I was living in Vichy France with a man who had saved my life. But he also had betrayed me years earlier when we were younger, around the time of the Great War. There was a woman...older hot, amazing French rack....we were both teens...

Anyway, we grew flowers and delivered them nightly, in this big milk-cart. And flowers were a major part of the economy, with many homes getting daily deliveries of huge flower arrangements. Plus the flowers were luminescent, and the nights were pitch black dark, so it all looked like a video game.

I think in a later continuation of that dream, there were Nazis, but no flowers. And some kind of revenge plot.

Last night? Just about a girl I used to be infatuated with. Guess that's only mostly gone.

Same here actually. Came out of nowhere too.
Memories of an old major crush came rushing back like a fucking train as I woke up. Shit that was better left forgotten in my mind attic, goddammit.

Have you ever tried to fight someone in a dream? My punches are slow and it feels like I'm punching through water or pudding or something while they're still going normal speed. I did one time bash someones head in during a dream when they were trying to kill me and my friend at the mall. It was still slow-motion but it got the job done.

This, very much so.

Whenever I try to fly, I can only fly like, for a few feet, then I land again. Every fucking time I try to fly. I know it means something.

I dreamt last night I was relaxing alone by the water. Probably the nicest dream I've had in a long while.

Everyone just went to sleep at a decent, though still kind of late hour. I woke up after I went to sleep in the dream.

Reminds me of that scene in the Titanic of the mother putting her children to bed. Great, now I'm sad.

Usually being chased by an unknown force. A lot of times it is zombies and I'm hiding out somewhere but other times it is just an unknown being of group. If not that, then it's usually my ex. Running into her. Last night she had moved next door to me and I was with her family which was weird because I never spent any time with her family. I usually suppress all memories of her and try not thinking about her, but it all comes out in my dreams.

no doubt I have had crazy dreams

reapers flying half a mile to land in my leg

crazy ass space dreams that feel part real part dream with long tunnels to travel

dreams where kit (I think is the name) the car that talks chases me and runs over me

My flying dreams are like most, usually just a few feet and I have to flap my arms like crazy. I also end up just hovering most of the time it seems.

I have had dreams that truly feel like original movies though, too bad I can't suck that shit right out of my brain.

I have very vivid dreams almost every night. I can remember dreams I had as a kid. I also lucid dream quite often. Very cool experience.

Random most of the time but if I'm worried about something, my dreaming-consiousness will construct a situation from those random events that would produce the same kind of worry/mental state.

My dreams are all over the place, but the ones that I tend to remember are ones with familiar people or friends (mostly) that are really emotional; sometimes sexual, sometimes not, but when I wake up I have like, super intense (mostly positive) feelings towards the person in the dream. The kind that you think about for several days. It's really weird, but it doesn't happen that often.

Having sex with people i know IRL and sometimes i make up people that i maybe saw on the streets, online or something. I just know that 80% of the dream are sexual and somehow always ends up in the restroom.

It seems like in a lot of my dreams I'm searching for someone. At times I know who it is and other times I have no idea. I also have a lot of dreams where I'm trying to escape or run from something.

My dreams are incredibly strange and often long. The involve rhino cars, South American kidnappings(escaping via beyblade), zombie apocalypses created by TF2 characters, aliens taking stuff from my house, abandoned hospitals with killer babies, russian mobs, and Sam Fisher foiling my plots. The occasional dream with a girl that I'm in love or infatuated with as well.

Last night I had a dream that I was married at 22, and had a bunch of kids, but they were all pretty much grown up. It was my 22nd birthday and me and my wife got just enough cake to throw in my face for some reason. George Costanza was dating my friend's mom, but was replaced by a chicken.

We need some kind of Dreams OT lol.

Had a dream last night I was telling someone about GAF in a coffee shop (that I'd seen in Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee).

I was telling them about GAF's humor and about one recent thread post that cracked me up. It was a thread about a gif of some (likely high) person crossing the street while shaking, with the reply post, "Oughta try decaf, OP."

As I'm telling the person this a girl on the table to the right leans over and gives me a good kiss on the cheek. She reminds me of someone I used to know.

Meanwhile the gif being talked about is playing out in real life outside the large window on the left. Obviously.

That reply post seems so real, yet nothing shows up recently. The best kind of dreams.

Oddly enough, I am only in my dreams if it's a reoccuring nightmare type dream.

Otherwise, I am never me. I am someone else. It's really, really weird.

While it hasn't happened in a while, I have been able to feel motion in my dreams. I don't really hear anything while dreaming (even though I know what's being said), but I definitely have been on roller-coasters in dreams and it felt appropriately intense.

Here's what my dreams tend to be like

I had a dream a few weeks ago that started out with me and another person in what seemed like some futuristic mining setting where we were descending through a cavern in some high-tech lift. once we reached out destination, I realized it was a friend I went to college with last year.

The we reached where we were headed which was some old abandoned facility with some energy anomaly/ghost-like thing that haunted the area. It was a blue glowing orb and we knew that it could phase through solid matter and kill whomever it touched. We were acting really casual about the situation though as if it were just some video game challenge we tried beat multiple times before.

The facility looked like a hardwood basketball court combined with a racetrack; there were stands, or what looked like stands, on the inside of the track and outside. The track wasn't a perfect oval though and it had a lot of obstacles/equipment all over.

Right when we got off the elevator, we were like "all right, we gotta stay ahead of it this time." We knew we need to lead it into an electrical field at the end of the "track." We started running and the orb began floating after us. It was intense since I'd look back and see it just float straight through stuff. We reached the end after a lot of close calls.

Right before we activated the electrical field, the dream shifted to Metal Gear Rising. I was trying to sneak around inside an office building at night, trying to use the cardboard box to hide, but kept getting spotted. I eventually cleared out all the enemies and then some officers showed up, including Judge Dredd and his psychic partner from the movie "Dredd," as if I had been there to clear out the place before they got there.

We were discussing something to do with time travel. They acquired something they needed in the office, but we'd have to go back in time to get the rest of the items they needed.

As we're walking through the buildings parking lot, we go back in time and are walking through a flat, barren expanse with nothing but dirt and a massive Chicago skyline in the distance that looks as big as the city scape from Blade Runner, though I know that this is a 1920s Chicago. It's now the crack of dawn and Judge Dredd is walking with me, pulling an ox and plow behind him while I am dragging a plow like device through the dirt myself.

We reach the city and check in at a hotel that has a restaurant at the bottom. Dredd and his psychic judge in training enter the room and Dredd hands me some comic books, the items we left to retrieve. I place them in my book bag and we head downstairs.

Along the way, we travel through time again as the restaurant looks a bit more modern. We come across someone we know/need to speak to and while the other two are talking with them to whomever, I notice a rabbit man and a rabbit woman eating dinner nearby. I can't help but notice little mannerisms and tells that suggest the rabbit man is dangerous and is discretely threatening the rabbit woman.

I tap the psychic judge on the shoulder and ask her to use her abilities to tell whether the rabbit man has bad intentions and she confirms my suspicions. The rabbit man makes a move to grab the rabbit girl across the table and I intervene. He jumps up and pushes past me out of the restaurant. I chase after him.

As I run through the doors, I realize I'm in a mall, closer to our present day and the restaurant/hotel had been integrated into the mall at some point. The mall was like an indoor version of that outdoor Chinatown mall in Chicago in that the part of the mall we were in was like a hall way that snaked around, rather than having big, open areas.

There were many people, so many that I had immediately lost the rabbit man. I was looking around frantically to no avail. I cupped my hands around my mouth and spoke loudly, trying to get people's attention.

"Excuse me... excuse me. I will give $7000 to anyone who can bring me a rabbit man from inside this mall."

Everyone nearby began looking around excitedly. I added that he was not a man in a bunny suit, but that was an anthropomorphic rabbit.

A moment later, I see down the hall a younger version of my dad running toward me with a rabbit man behind him. This was just the Easter Bunny which I could tell as he only had a bow tie on. I turned and ran away from them so as to not expose the fact that I had no plans to pay anyone any money.

As I turn, I see a person in a dog man costume running toward me. Somehow, I inherently know this is the rabbit man in disguise.

I grab him and swing him around into a wall. I then pick him off the ground and yank the dog head off revealing that it is the rabbit man. I flip him over my shoulder so that he lands on a railing. I do this multiple times until he is incapacitated.

Afterward, I'm sitting with Marlo, one of the bad guys from The Wire, and he's talking to me about what it was like becoming a crime lord. I'm sitting there listening to him and his cronies speak for a while.

The dream shifts again and I can't quite remember the transition. I'm in an outdoor mall-like place. There's a movie theater nearby that I enter and I become Fox McCloud from Star Fox and I win some arcade game and receive a rubber ball. I then play ball with Wolf O'Donnell and Falco Lombardi from the same game. Kazuo Hirai, the Sony CEO was behind the counter and he joins in. That's the end though.

  • Gruesome and very detailed more often than not
  • I can smell things and read occasionally
  • Lots of vivid colors
  • I'm usually a guy or in camera view
  • A lot of my dreams are sequels or continuations of dreams from months/years prior
  • Manatees!

Everything but manatees, yes, so much yes. Why do I dream in dude?

Even more evidence of our secret cousiness

I finally figured out how to consistently have dreams every night. Even if they're strange or scary or anything I'd rather have them than not. All I have to do is drink a big glass of water minutes before I go to bed. Then I have dreams all night.

Later in life, this may not be a good plan.

Wohoo, thread bump!

I've had some funky re-occurring dreams lately. It feels like every one of my dreams that I do remember all fit into like five to seven different "settings".
It's also mostly in first-person, can't actually recall anything 3rd person. Not sure I have ever dreamed in 3rd person either, but unsure on that.

A lot of my dreams are sequels or continuations of dreams from months/years prior

I could swear I experience this, but could it just be an effect of deja-vu, but while you're dreaming? I'll often be somewhere I know I've never seen (it isn't a weird version of a place I've been to, it's completely new) yet in the dream, I'll feel as if I'm familiar with it.

Had a dream last night that I was running in a race, but I hid around a corner and tried to push some girl runner into a mud hole, trying to drown her in mud. Then I went back to running and woke up. No clue what that means.

The other night I had a dream about a gruesome crash on a dirty, mud-caked highway. Highway patrol closed off the road because a victim's spine had squirmed free of his body and was making its way up the highway like an inchworm. The patrolmen told everyone to stay away from the spine or risk demonic possession.

I'm usually back in the army wondering how/why I signed back up, the basic training ones are the worst, making me worry about how I'm going to do it again at this age lol

I also have multiple dreams that take place in the same fictitious place/towns/world. It's weird I could write a story about that place, a boring story with strange happenings lol.

My favorite dreams for the past 9 years have been seeing my dad, I have them a few times a month. Luckily he's only been sick and dying twice in all of those. I usually see him and he looks amazing again without the ravages of fighting cancer for 5 years and I run over, give him the biggest hug and kiss on the cheek and tell him that I'm so happy he's here and I've missed him. The best dreams ever.

I have stopped remembering my dreams for some reason and I've recently been having what I assume is nightmares alot because I wake up sweating profusely and feeling terrible. Sucks.

Yeah, unless it is literally a repeated dream, I have a feeling that it's some sort of dream deja-vu.

Mine are all action adventures.

I'd parallel them with Metal Gear. Lots of sneaking around. Escaping. Chasing. Often in big buildings (like malls, giant hotels) or some such.

I don't know when I last had a dream that didn't have a fair amount of drama and action.

Oh yeah. That feeling when you jump off of the roof of a building onto another roof? And actually feeling it, it's a rush. I have a team. Do you have a team?

Thats what I was trying to describe, it's like I've been to all the places before and the dream places seem interconnected with other dreams, but the locations and people I interact with aren't real. I've been to some of the locations multiple times and interacted with the same people also. It's kind if strange.

Not sure either. I was teenage guy in my one from last night helping track down the killer of two murdered kids that I'd previously helped in a dream years ago find their bones. I didn't have my license yet, so I had to jog all around the map trying to reach the evil people. :(

GAF family reunion meet-up? *_*

Could be (and definitely is for some), but I remember these previous dreams clearly as being distinct and self-contained. Making my subconscious is piggy-backing off of old ones when it runs out of new and macabre material, though?

My dreams are nothing but stressful university situations (bad grades, flunking out) and gruesome violence literally every night for me. Even stranger is that my occasional good dreams are often continuations of other dreams I had months prior. I've also never had a sex dream that developed into anything graphic, any time an intimate moment arises in my dreams, the female vanishes or my mom storms into my room. It's super weird because I'm definitely not sexually uncomfortable or awkward in the slightest but my dreams make me feel like I have the subconscious of some awkward dork.
