Your Epic Moments In Gaming

Epic Fail: I was sneaking around behind a turtle knight that hadn't seen me, so I thought it would be funny to start attacking him from behind. He fell backwards and killed me.

Had a killer moment in Battlefield 3 playing Rush with some of my friends. We were on the offense with a handful of tickets left with 1 MCOM left in a building. We had tried numerous times to arm but failed - the building was mostly rubble by now.

By some sheer luck, we snuck into the area and armed, all while everyone was shooting at us and vehicles were exploding and shit. We won with 1 ticket left.

Most intense MP match I've ever played.

I consider this "epic" but on a very small scale. During my first playthrough of RDR, I was doing one of the wanted-poster bounty hunt missions. I rode up to the location on the minimap, which was a hill of sorts. Almost immediately, gang members start running down the hill charging me guns blazing.

When one of them gets close enough to me, I shoot him in the chest. He proceeds to tumble backwards, shooting off his gun while doing so. The shot he fired off hit a nearby horse in the ass, the horse freaks the fuck out and runs way, and while doing so he proceeds to knock over the bounty target - causing him to comically tumble down the hill, fall off a nearby cliff and die. You seriously could not have scripted that moment any better.

I had to pause the game because I couldn't stop laughing and absurdity of what just happened. It's moments like that which remind why I love RDR so much.

Getting the high INT/WIS/CHA ending in Planescape: Torment and realising that for once charisma wasn't a dump stat. GLORIOUS.

Suicide Mission in ME2. No matter how many times I play it, still love it.

The twist moments in Bioshock and KotOR. Wonderful.

Spending over an hour sneaking through a dungeon full of Daedra at really low level in Morrowind, Leaving with amazing loot. Epic. Then getting killed by a mudcrab less than five minutes later and realising I'd forgotten to save. Less epic.

In Modern Warfare 2, I was playing Search and Destroy. It was the final round, as the game was tied 3-3. My team decided to be idiots and ran out like Rambo. Unsurprisingly, they got obliterated, leaving me alone to fight 5 of them. I never lost hope, and I proceeded to decimate the enemy team with my trusty shotgun. It was a moment of glory that I shall remember until the end of days.

I killed them by camping in a corner because I was scared :(

Beating Tyson in Punch Out.

Beating Ornstein and Smough the first time.

Beating Shatterhand for the first time.

Parrying shit in Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike.

Getting guns akimbo and wrecking havoc in Blood.

Beating Death Adder in Golden Axe 1.

Everything in Gunstar Heroes.

Everything in Contra: Hard Corps.

Unlocking all of the chaos emeralds in Sonic 3 and Knuckles and playing the real final level.

Everything that happens after this until you return to the title screen. Nothing else is remotely close.

What game?

I asked my girlfriend to help me get the platinum in GTA IV. I was going for Fly The Co-op trophy and needed to finish under the ranked times in the online co-op missions to get it.

She was my pilot for Deal Breaker and I just finished up clearing my levels at the oil refinery. I hopped into the helicopter and we flew over the van that was escaping on the road. This ended up taking much longer than necessary because of her flying and my shooting. She ends up flying like a demon back to the mansion and had about 5 seconds on the clock by the time we're in the area. No time to land so she just flies right into the garage. We were a second before failing.

More her epic moment than mine but it was fucking awesome.

I finally reached Eyedol in Killer Instinct back in the day. He kept kicking my ass and I was so close to turning the console off. Then with one hit of health left I like zoned out and went on a combo that took all his health and I beat him. I felt so elated to have finally kicked his annoying ass.

Many years ago I used to play Operation Flashpoint with a group of Swedish PC Gamer forum members. A very popular game was a custom mode where one team played hunters using attack helicopters while the other players were racers who had a wide array of different vehicles and cars. The goal was for the racers to get from one end of the island to the other alive. If you died, you had to restart from the beginning.

Along the way was a series of checkpoints you had to pass and at each checkpoint there was a small stash of different weapons you could try to use against the helicopters, first some small weapons and then later rockets and even missiles.

During one game of this the hunters had been harassing the racers by flying in low and scaring them, making them drift off the road in what the hunters liked to call a "pull over" like traffic cops. After many tries I had finally managed to get to the third checkpoint. One other thing about these checkpoints are that whenever a player get to one, the hunters gets alerted about the presence of a player at that point and usually go chasing after that player.

Instead of going forward I decided to hide in the village, park my car inside a barn and see if I could tire them out over looking for me. They were flying a big Hind-24 helicopter that was now circling above me, using its searchlight to try and look for me who they had now figured was still in the village since no vehicle was anywhere to be seen on the road. Luckily for me, I find a stash of weapons inside the little house I was hiding and with it a rocket launcher. I wait for a moment when the helicopter passes over my house, standing still in search for me and I rush out of the house, pointing up for launcher at it and over the voice chat we used say in as a deep voice as my teenage voice could muster "Pull over this." and fire.

Meanwhile, another racer is coming up towards the town who told me that after he heard the line he sees a tiny light going quickly up towards the helicopter and with a big bang it strikes the chopper square underneath the cockpit, making the whole thing backflip and crash into the nearby woods, announcing in a small window that the hunters have been killed.

Que the entire chat going absolutely batshit crazy with joy and laughter.

I had never felt so awesome as then.

Note the lives and the flag. This was my 3rd attempt and I only used a Super Mushroom, so no other power-ups.

That is from Super Mario 3D World's final level,
Champion's Road.

Afrika harbor on bad company 2. About 8 mines in one spot in the main street. ATV Runs over them, flips around 200 feet into the air. It was amazing in the moment

Socom 2 clan battles until 7am. In one of them I run through the middle rambo style with a shotgun, get behind the enemy and kill 7 our of 8 of the other team solo, winning the round for my clan

My best moment was in a local Vanilla SF 4 tourney going on (about 20 ppl watching us, so it was pretty cool.)

Made it to the final match playing Bison, and faced this Ken player. It was 2 - 2 (best outta 3), and on the second round (after the Ken won the first), we both had about a pixel left. For some reason both decide to jump forward at the same time after playing footsies, and both get hit in the air.

The K.O appears on the screen, and no one knew who won after the hit. Bison screams, and that Ken player won the tourney. Even though I lost, I never saw something so close and never got so in doubt on whether it was over, or we would have a final match. The atmosphere for the whole final match was fantastic :P

Bad Company 2.

Opposing team was destroying us. They had a tank. We had a chopper no one was using and I'm really bad at piloting them except for going forward. Planted lots of C4 on it, got in, flew towards the opposition and their tank, bailed out, pulled my parachute and then detonated the C4 as it headed on top of the tank. Killed everyone.

We still lost, though.

Jumping into the car in Hardline, first car chase. Welcome to the Terrordome playing, i was like OH SHIT this feels AWESOME

Well my last Epic moment was playing the PC port of Shadow Complex.
Besides that, not so many. Epic doesn't release to many games I like on the PC.

1CC of Radiant Silvergun, Dodonpachi, Mars Matrix and Ikaruga felt awesome after the months of effort they each took.

Right after Rainmaker mode was released for Splatoon, I had a team that was losing badly in the last few seconds of a match, so I snapped and I grabbed that darn Rainmaker, and I just ran. I pulled us from losing to overtime all the way to a knockout win!

It's not a tactic I would try all the time, but I felt pretty good admittedly.

I've also finally had a year where I've got consistent money, so I get to experience games more as they come out, rather than years later, so I've gotten to play some really great stuff (Undertale, TFTBL, Splatoon, etc.)! It feels pretty "epic" to me.

I came first on the losing team in a round of Star Wars Battlefront once.

And a couple of times in Titanfall I didn't die once during the whole round.

Usually online where you just do everything perfect with no mistakes.

I remember in Modern Warfare 2 getting that first nuke after a long killstreak.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 multiplayer I think might have been 1 but anyway I remember playing team deathmatch against 3-4 people while all my team left during the loadout at the start so I stayed and beat the opposite team by like 15 kills.

Had some epic moments during Destiny these few past months especially during the raids. As Brannon said ^ getting that Black Spindle with like no seconds left is such a rush lol.

My first hour of playing Titanfall and KOing 2 titans at the same tine by dropping my titan on them. Controller dropped and screams

In Team Fortress 2 my team gave up with a minute or so left on offense in Gravel Pit cause the other team had the ramps of the last point defended so well. I decided to try and take the direct approach and at least trigger overtime, but got delayed getting there.

So I ended up grenade jumping and landing on the last point with a second left. Killed 3 people while I was up there, almost killing myself in the process. Won the game, with one of the enemy team saying "We were so close".

Not really "epic" so much as it is incredibly memorable for me...

FFX - Killing
Yu Yevon
in a single hit. I burst out laughing when it happened. Talk about a joke fight.
