yeah it's Low

...or "Heroes"

"Heroes" is probably the best song the man ever wrote, but some of the songs are just so damn kitschy sounding imo. "Joe the Lion" and "The Secret Life of Arabia" dramatically lessen my enjoyment of the record as a whole.

The Deram Anthology is an amazing album.
Easily one of my faves along Space Oddity, Reality and Hunky Dory.. hum yeah low is pretty good.

SO BOSS

God Dancing Bowie had such awful music. Let's Dance is one of the most creatively bankrupt albums to come from such a legendary musician.

For me it was this...

Which did what it said it never would do....

Am I the only lover of the transitional Aladdin Sane -> Philly Soul period? Live At The Tower is still my favorite album. Lacking energy? *spits*

this is worse, but Let's Dance was the signpost that pretty much marked "i'm never going to be a relevant artist again and should have called it quits with Scary Monsters"

But Let's Dance, at least to me, seemed to be taking risks, trying something a little different (even though it was lacking many really "new" songs). NLMD just seemed like he was trying so hard to be relevant again, but at the same time keep the popular success he had with Let's Dance, a success that I don't think he expected by the way, and trying to connect to his other previous successes like Ziggy. The whole "Glass Spider" thing was a joke IMO, grasping at past glory and hoping nobody notices....

Tonight was much of the same, but I think actually had a couple of decent songs on it....

But here is what Bowie himself had to say about NLMD...

"My nadir was Never Let Me Down. It was such an awful album. I've gotten to a place now where I'm not very judgmental about myself. I put out what I do, whether it's in visual arts or in music, because I know that everything I do is really heartfelt. Even if it's a failure artistically, it doesn't bother me in the same way that Never Let Me Down bothers me. I really shouldn't have even bothered going into the studio to record it."
