jon bones

hot hot hanuman-on-man action
I think I was 13 when I saw this movie on VHS and fell in love with the "Action Horror" genre.

Since then, I've enjoyed lots of movies in the genre - from shlocky blockbuster The Mummy to smaller hits like Attack the Block. Critical hits like Alien(s) to lovely trash like Freddy vs Jason.

I'm looking for recommendations for other movies/tv shows/comics/books in the genre - send em over!

On my list:
Predators
The Sixth Gun
Dog Soldiers

Fucking first post! That was my choice lol

Aright my choice is Ryuhei Kitamura's Versus. Zombies, martial arts, gore, crazy weapons and made on a shoe string budget.

Dog Soldiers looks perfect! Keep em coming 😀

I really enjoyed the first 2 Blade movies back in the day, maybe I'll rewatch em one day.

blade 1 for sure. the blood rave is one of my favorite scenes of all time

not sure I'd call don't breathe an action moive tho

I don't know if you're into animated stuff but Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust is a perfect blend of the two genres.

Also the first 9 episodes of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (2012).

Oh, man, you've never seen Dog Soldiers? You're in for a treat. Neil Marshall (The Descent) + the best werewolf design + copious gore

I'd add "The Host" (2007, Korea). From the director of the better-known "Snowpiercer". A kaiju film with plenty of horror elements, some action, and an all-around amazing script. It's fantastic. Scary, funny, heartfelt.

Army of Darkness, with a HM to Blade 1 and 2, both of which are very entertaining, and have some gritty action sequences in them.

I see you put Predators(with an 's') in the OP and I assume you mean the original but I think you should give the Adrien Brody starring sequel a shot(after the original, of course).

And considering you started the thread with Army of Darkness, my biggest recommendation will be for the Mr. Vampire series. It has a similar blend of action, horror, and comedy.

That was on Netflix for a while. I meant to watch it but never found the time. Then it disappeared from Netflix.

Love these series. RIP Lam Ching-Ying. His best role will always be the Prodigal Son.

I know it's mostly a comedy, but technically Hot Fuzz is structured like a horror movie and it becomes a full action flick on the second act.
