Your Favorite Game That You Never Finished

Technically, World of Warcraft. For the first time in over four years, I just don't care enough to keep raiding and see the last two bosses of the expansion, one of which has been a looming villain in the Warcraft universe for nearly EIGHT real years.

For a more traditional answer, probably Shadow of the Colossus, or Half-Life 2.

FFXII

God, fuck that monster hunting stuff. Last time I played I was in that umbra tower place looking for some bird or zebra to kill, but it's pissing me off having to have gamefaqs open every time I play that game.

At this point in time, at this minute, it's gonna be Persona 4. I got killed by what I assume to be the last boss because he got two critical hits in a row -pure chance. I would do it again were it not for the fact that the boss immediately before him has defence up the wazoo, and it takes me at least twenty minutes to beat that boss.

Demon Soul. I love everything about this game, but the difficulty makes me scared of finishing it :(

Oblivion. Just didn't care to much about the main story, I just wanted to come into your house late at night and suck your blood.

Star Ocean 2 for me. Game kept freezing up and I could never get past the Cave of Ordeals (think that's what it's called, it's been a while). I've played up to that point on like 3 different saves and once I get there I lose motivation since I know it'll just freeze again. Love the game up to that point, music is phenomenal.

There's also a couple of NES games that I've never beaten that are some of my favorites that are just too hard for me (Ninja Gaiden, Batman, and Zelda 2 (although I was at a friend's house and watched him beat it)).

Oblivion. Altogether sunk 100 hours into the game. Number 2 would be maybe Lost Odyssey? I really don't shelve games halfway through very often.

Resident Evil -- Made it to the final boss, not enough health recovery or ammo....and was basically at the point of no return. Didnt have multiple saves to back to and could never beat him with my limited stock of items.

Thread title is pretty self explanatory. What's your favorite game that you never finished? And how come you never finished it? For me, it's...

This.

Plus, this!

Freaking loved G2 but, for one reason or another, I never finished it. One of the best battle systems in any RPG, ever.

I guess.. Pokemon Fire Red.

I love the game, but every time I play it, I switch back to my original Red about halfway through. It's just that I love Red that much more.

Edit: I forgot Pikmin. I'm devastated by the time limit. I adore Pikmin 2, but man...

In the last 15 years, I have tried finishing it by myself, I have tried finishing it co-operatively with my cousin, I have tried alternating play in a group of 6, I have considered looking into glitches to help finish it, I have even asked my parents to help.

...and I keep fucking dying here!! At this rate, I may as well just ask my future children to finish it for me. :/

Never played the game, but from watching that video it looks like you could just spam both of them with that aerial kick until death.

Okami- another victim of my personal RPG curse: I always lose interest in an RPG when I'm in or near the last dungeon (same with Grandia II and Skies of Arcadia).
Chrono Trigger- started this game over from scratch about 4 times, but never reached the ending. Bought it on the DS last year. Still haven't opened it. And I still consider it one of my favourite games of all time.

Okami - Got half way through the snowy place. Amazing game though. Pretty much out-Zelda'd Zelda.

Beyond Good & Evil - Loved its atmosphere and inventiveness. Strangely lost interest at the stealth bit in the factory though.

Wind Waker - I got to the triforce treasure hunt part and lost initiative since I wanted to find everything without any help, but I ended up getting too frustrated and stopped. Now it just sucks that I lost my memory card so I'll have to start from scratch.

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee - I really love this game and when I was much younger I got to one of the last levels, but if I remember correctly I didn't rescue enough people so I couldn't finish, or something like that.

Dragon Quest VIII - It's just really long. This is a really good rpg, but what bothers me most is that the main storyline is always delayed with unavoidable and unforeseeable side quests. Admittedly they are usually pretty varied, but I'd rather not have the filler.

I've haven't finished a GTA since 3. Played them all. And I don't regret any of the 100 or so hours I've put in. I just sort of get to that 'had my fill' point, put it down, and don't come back.

I guess I still plan to finish IV at some point.

There are tons of good games I've started playing but actually never finished.

Super Mario galaxy
Halo 3 ODST
Final Fantasy 6
Fallout 3
Okami
Valkyria Chronicles
Lost Odyssey
et cetera

But my favorite one is definitely Super Mario Galaxy. Had so much fun with this game every time I played it but I can't motivate myself to turn on my Wii again.

Earthbound....

...and Chorno Trigger

For both, got stuck at some ridiculous boss fight and didn't feel like grinding...

Persona 3 FES- I LOVE this game, but I keep trying to make the most out of every minute. It wears me out. I think I'm at over 70 hours in the beginning of December. I haven't even started playing The Answer.

Morrowind GOTY - This game still amazes me. I don't have any direction when I play, so I'll spend several hours doing something retarded, then get lost and die.

Earthbound - Got to some squid monster that wiped me out in seconds. Gave up after many tries.

I was going to say Mana Khemia Portable (I love the gameplay but hated the loading times and crappy port job, might start over and finish the PS2 version), but your post just reminded me that I have yet to ascend in Nethack... :lol

I think I must have spent over 100 hours in that darn game, played version 3.2.X, the closest I ever got to ascension was with an overpowered elven wizard, got past the character quest, castle and stuff, felt invincible with high level protective gear and spells including a wished armor, I think I ended up getting disintegrated by a Black Dragon.
Yeah, black dragons were annoying since you'd have to actually KILL one to gain disintegration resistance, without being disintegrated yourself. :lol Genociding them would be a bit of a waste of a genocide, though I guess if you get disintegration resistance you could still lose valuable armor.

Also on the thread topic, I seem to recall never beating Metroid Prime 3, even though it seemed like a cool game. I can't remember...

Battletoads, got to the last level but couldn't beat it because I wasn't good enough. That really doesn't happen that much these days and I'm pretty sure it's not because I'm that much better of a gamer.

Persona 4, I haven't played it i months but intend to continue when I have more time. Luckily, I'm only like 20 hours in, so I'm not going to forget very much about the characters. Yukiko and Chie are memorable enough, anyway, though I can't remember the other guy's name or his problem. Oh well, I'm sure they'll reference it later or something.
