In terms of albums where I really don't have to skip anything for the most part and could always listen to:

and

Honourable mention in terms of albums where I don't skip much at all:

EDIT: Also both Masta Ace solo albums.

What I usually tell people is that I go by coasts for it, to make it a little easier on myself it gives me 4 top picks. East, West, South and Midwest. Still hard as fuck to narrow it down but here's what I come up with:

I just have a lot of great memories from high school associated with this album and it means alot to me. The way Cudi did the different acts definitely wasn't anything new in music, but it was really well done with this album. I don't even listen to rap much anymore but Soundtrack 2 My Life will always be an all-time favorite track.

Lots of other favorites too: Deltron 3030, MBDTF, GKMC, MM Food

I havnt seen All Eyez on Me posted. I feel like if they hadnt made that a double CD and just trimmed it down to 16-18 tracks, it would be up there with Illmatic and Ready to Die as a GOAT rap album, but that second disc has too much...filler.
Theres no question that album had the material though.

These are all on equal footing in my head. They all give me that "feeling".

Me Against the World
Ready To Die
Doggystyle
Illmatic
Things Fall Apart
Return to the 36 chambers
Wu-Tang Forever
Aquemini

Infamous - Mobb Deep
All We Got Iz Us - ONYX
Enta da Stage - Black Moon

One of the above. It's difficult for me to choose a favorite.

Blu & Exile - Below the Heavens

Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx

Snoop Doggy Dogg - Doggystyle

Deltron - Deltron 3030

Can't choose just one.

OP please feel free to disregard any pics of Ye's least album (MBDTWTF) or anything post '03 by eminem

thanks

Listening to the whole album sequentially is a wonderful little trip, with the colorful story and all.

However, since that's more "alternative" hip-hop, I'm going to cheat a little and give love to an album, that I feel, truly epitomizes hip-hop and should be in (hopefully) everyone's top hip-hop album list:

Came here to post this.

Closely followed by Wu-Tan Forever and Liquid Swords.

Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030
Sage Francis - A Healthy Distrust
Busdriver - Jhelli Beam
MF Doom - MM.. Food
EL-P - I'll Sleep When You're Dead
Souls of Mischief - 93 'til Infinity
Aesop Rock - Skelethon
The Coup - Party Music
Eyedea & Abilities - E&A
Handsome Boy Modeling School - So... How's Your Girl?
Leak Bros. - Waterworld
Madvillain - Madvillainy

With some of these artists I could have picked any of their albums, but overall, this is a decent representation of my favorites. *list subject to change by Tuesday when indecision kicks in*

Interesting that your favorite Busdriver album is Jhelli Beam, that album seems to get overlooked, actually, like 80% of Busdriver's discography gets overlooked. I only see people recommend one album of his, which is usually Black Tangent, and while that album is probably his most "normal rapping", and accessible album, it's only one of his best.

Skelethon is good, but I never gave it enough listens to rate it amongst Rock's other albums.

It's tragic how obscure P.E have become. One of the greatest rap bands of all time and they're pretty much ignored.

Yeah, I dig all of Busdriver's discography, but when it comes to my favorites, it is always between Jhelli Beam and RoadKillOverCoat. Now that I am thinking about it I should probably amend my list and put his collaborative album The Weather on there as well.

Skelethon just clicked with me. The electo beats paired with Aesop's typically rad lyrics push it over the top.

The Weather only happens to be good in certain areas because I feel like it was a careless circle jerk, which is cool. Like some of the tracks are brilliant, and some other tracks are throwaways. Silly that they never decided to collab again.

I don't know what you think of Memoirs of the Elephant Man but it's my favorite album of his.

RoadKillOverCoat has some Busdriver craziness on it like Ethereal Driftwood.

Most recently I have been listening to this on repeat.

Flows are just on point and some great beats and wordplay. Song that got me into them

Earl is actually killing it, his album is great and anything he features on is just fire in vocal form. Just love this song

I would also recommend anything MF Doom or Madlib is involved with. Best rapper and and producer ever, period.
