Your favorite Ocarina moment (aside from the Master Sword pull)

The music is the reason I never got past this dungeon when I was a kid. Fucking terrifying!

I think I beat it eventually when I was younger, but then I went to the fire temple which also freaked me out, haha.

The 3DS Remaster was the first time I ever actually beat the game all the way through.

Funny you say that, because it was almost the same exact experience for me...except I was scared about the Shadow Temple. Had this huge phobia about the wallmasters and my friend lied saying they were in every room, lol.

It took me until the 3DS remake to finish it, too.

The aftermath of pulling the Master Sword out for the first time made me really sad. I felt like it was my fault, like I'd done something wrong. I was 8.

But my favorite moment is the beginning of the game when you take control of Link. That fucking village musiccccc

stepping into the temple of time and forest temple and being completely absorbed by the atmosphere.

I also loved nearly all the bosses in the game- all felt like such great cinematic experiences at the time. It was quite a cool moment looking up into the ceiling and have the Gohma spider boss stare right back at you.

"These toys are too much for you! I command you to return them to ME!!"

aaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAHHHHGHHHH!!!

*Dark energy impedes Link*

Quite possibly the greatest dungeon in the entire series. The music alone gives me chills.

How could I forget? This also ranks very highly for me.

The game really does have great use of music, even though I think most songs themselves are that great. It's really how they fit so damn well in any enviroment and really set the mood the developers want to make you feel. Masterful work.

The moment you step out into Hyrule Field for the first time. Was mindblowing back then to me as a child.

This for me too.

I'm one of those that likes to explore, take in the sights. It was just so great at the time.

The ending still. I let a tear go.

Other than that, walking out to the market as adult Link. The desolation, silence and menace contrasts so heavily with the playful and upbeat town that you walked through minutes earlier that it's stunning.

The aftermath of pulling the Master Sword out for the first time made me really sad. I felt like it was my fault, like I'd done something wrong. I was 8.

Going back as adult Link to see how everything has changed made Ganondorf seem so evil, like the most evil video game character I'd seen to that point.

But my favorite moment other than the master sword pull (which is a difficult thing to choose) would probably be the moment the Great Deku Tree's mouth opens and he asks you to go inside him to kill something evil. A lot of people may have missed it, but that was a throwback that illustrated how far video game story telling had come:

The game was so cinematic for its time, it was the first time ever playing a game where I felt the emotional weight of actually entering a dungeon and exploring the unknown. It seemed so realistic and moving in a way that few games ever were prior to its release. I really felt chills and I knew video games had changed forever at that moment.

They could have kept the game 2D like previous games, but so much of what made it special would have been lost.

This make me want a remake on the NX really, badly.

I can't pick just one. The whole experiences was amazing from beginning to end. That why its my favorite game of all time.

Still my favorite boss fight of all time. Not because it was the hardest, but just the build-up, the pacing, the setting, the atmosphere, the music, the tension... It all built to this moment.

And it was glorious.

This is my favorite moment by far as well. I also think it's better than the Master Sword sequence, even though it's not as iconic.

The moment I look forward to the most every play through of OoT is arriving at the spirit temple as an adult only to have to return as a kid.

This ^
I absolutely loved the Gerudo Desert area and the Spirit Temple. Have to say that sneaking through Gerudo Fortress and sneaking past the guards like Solid Snake was awesome! Picking them off with arrows and the longshot was so much fun, and then having to fight the guards outside the jail cells of the bridge builders! So awesome!

Yup I agree with this guy. This dungeon was so good but I think it feels so good because its the first dungeon you go as adult link so it feels like a brand new thing.

I liked the ice dungeon, I wish it was longer. The water temple was chill and contemplative too.

I also liked when Sheik turned into Zelda and then immediately got captured. Ganon is a MRA disaster, he really exposed himself there

Zelda, galloping by you on horseback in the rain. My 10 year old self was like "shit is getting real"

Ganondorf meeting first time.

EDIT: Oh yeah Sheik reveal was awesome too.

Honestly has one of the best game openings and endings I've ever seen.

This is my favorite moment by far as well. I also think it's better than the Master Sword sequence, even though it's not as iconic.

Mine too probably but this game just has so many. A true classic.

I also loved the rest of the bosses introductions in this game. So much build up for all of them. Just made the game that much more sweeping and majestic in its "epicness". Ganondorf playing on the organ getting louder and louder as you travel to the top of his evil lair was just amazing.

The end credits as a total sum of the experience. Great music and scenery. What a lovely and great game! It's my favorite.
*edit* Dextran, I cried too! Still get shivers from the game.

Damnit guys, now I really want to play Ocarina of Time again. My backlog is big enough as it is!

so much this. now I remember whey I cried at the end. so much emotional baggage from all the incredible moments in the game. it felt like STNG Inner Light - an entire life lived and relived.

OoT is my favorite game ever, but sometimes I wonder if it's really still justified today. Looking through this thread, I remember that yes, it's totally justified.

The entire game was just one memorable moment after the other, each with the perfect accompanying music.

(Zelda music hasn't been the same since people other than Koji Kondo composed for it...)

My favorite moment:
The Spirit Temple. I loved everything about it, especially the cutscenes involving Koume and Kotake. It's the best dungeon with the best music and the best boss, with the best cutscenes. I used to keep a save file right before the Spirit Temple boss just so I could replay all of the amazing stuff at the end.

Very, very close runner up is the Ganon final boss fight. Absolutely everything about it is perfect, from the music to the setting to Navi (who doesn't have much of a personality in the game until this point) to the camera direction...

Another one:

I remember how awesome it was to find out that it was Ganondorf playing his own fuckin' theme music on the organ while you're fighting your way up to the top floor of his castle.

That was badass.

The title screen. The hoof sounds, the pluck of the harp and then the song starting while seeing Link ride on the back of a horse.

Catching the Hylian Loach with the sinking lure *cool guy shades*

That's retrospective though as at the time I didn't realise it was so rare...

At the time, would have to be getting Epona. Seemed like such a huge moment not only to have all that space but to have a means of traversing it at speed. Was like getting your first car.

The castle courtyard is such a beautifully crafted little stealth section that captures that childish sense of danger and adventure where getting caught isn't actually a big deal, but it still feels exhilarating.

And the way it's mirrored as adult Link in the labyrinth before the Forest Temple where the guards do want to kill you and the whole thing is much creepier is masterful.

Probably not very noteworthy moments but I loved them as a kid:

1. Twinrova Battle. I was blown away by it. It just was such a cool use of the Mirror Shield.

2. Finding Dampe's Ghost. I thought it was a cool way to show the pass of time and giving you a new item.

Damnit guys, now I really want to play Ocarina of Time again. My backlog is big enough as it is!

I kinda feel like playing it again too. I still haven't done OoT 3DS Master Quest, maybe I should.

Then again, I probably should play Majora's Mask first since it's the only 3D Zelda I still haven't beaten. Priorities.

Damn, I almost forgot about the "climbing up the stairs while Ganondorf plays the organ louder and louder" moment. That's pretty high up there too.
I think only TP conveys its bosses with the same kind of "grandness" as OoT, though they're unfortunately much easier as boss fights.

Forest Temple.

Quite possibly the greatest dungeon in the entire series. The music alone gives me chills.

One of my favorite parts about this temple is how "lived in" it feels. It feels like an actual temple, I get a really strong monastery feel from the layout, and you'll often walk through gardens and hall ways and stuff that are logically placed and feel like places people would actually use to worship forest spirits or whatever.

In fact, most Ocarina dungeons have this feel to them, but I feel like the Forest Temple does it best.

I was pretty young when I played it, so getting thrown into the jail tower in Gerudo Valley and figuring out how to get out with the longshot was really awesome for some reason.

Not sure if I would call this my most favorite one - but it's certainly there.

EDIT: Link's broken (no pun intended). Shooting the light arrows at Ganondorf.

Getting the biggron sword and beating the living shit out of the water temple boss after like 3 months being stuck in there, and force to do the side quests. A shame to..if i wasn't stuck in your duegon for so long you wouldn't have met such a horrible fate Morpha..

Oh anther moment was when i shot the arrow into the sun and got fire arrows.. i felt very clever figuring that out when i was a kid

Clearing the water temple, then going into a well and the game is like "use this spyglass to see through walls" and I was like, "how about I just never play this again."
