Your favorite pieces of downloadable content?

At this point, I usually avoid DLC unless I know it offers something substantial. And even then, most of the time, it's only usually story stuff. And even then, I also avoid season passes (with one exception, which I'll get to).

I don't buy map packs anymore, I've never bought anything on a cosmetic sense. Any DLC I buy is, for the most part, story-driven and even then, it has go to so far as interest me and offer something of meaningful value to the game and its story.

For me, my top three DLCs of all time are story-driven stuff, packs that flesh out each other game, whether it last for 90 minutes to as far out as 20 hours or so.

(No particular order)

+ Mass Effect 3: Citadel
+ The Last of Us: Left Behind
+ Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony

That being said, I won't look past DLC that offers incredible value to a game and extends its longevity, even if it isn't story. In this instance, the DriveClub season pass plus Bikes and the Mario Kart 8 stuff is what I mean here.

And I think DriveClub was the best season pass I put money into. It was super cheap when I bought it, but I very much got a lot of money out of it and thensome. Just fantastic.

My favorite DLC are the annual 4 Call of Duty map packs. I like how they are recreating popular maps of past games into the new games.

BO1 Backlot -> BO2 Studio

BO2 Hijacked -> BO3 Skyjacked

etc.

Bioshock Minervas Den, Bloodborne Old hunter dlc and Dark souls 1 artorias dlc. All these dlc share the same trend of adding lore to the main game as well as introducing new content rather than recycle old content. I expect witcher 3 dlc to join this rank once the 2nd dlc comes out and i decided to play both dlc.

Both sunset overdrive dlcs are awesome. Wee bit short on the mission side but new guns, clothing, challanges (some of them are really fun) and a healthy amount of achievements.

Well worth the money

there's some really great suggestions in here!

guess i need to get around to Heart of Stone some day...

BEST
DLC
EVER

Yeah, I'm going to have to vote for this.

The Last of Us: Left Behind. A fantastic product all around, that also dares to not only have a female protagonist but also
features said protagonist in a gay romance

This is one of my choices. Loved that DLC, it's incredibly well done. I enjoyed "young" Ellie's parts more than the "old" ones, because they didn't feature combat and instead focused on the relationship between her and Riley, but the latter isn't bad at all either (I did think the final encounter was a bit too long, and the second wave felt unnecessary).

The other one is Overlord for Mass Effect 2. It brings back the exploration from the first game, albeit on a different vehicle, and it has a horror vibe which feels great. I remember the story also being really good.

Theatrhythm's DLC is great. It is not limited to Final Fantasy and contains heaps of great tracks such as ones from Nier, Chrono, Mana and more.
"Calling" from The World Ends With You is a fantastic song, indeed, and I'd like to see more stuff from that game.

Honestly, I'm not even sure why, but...

Mass Effect - Bring Down the Sky

My favorite mission in the entire series. No idea why, but it just clicked for me. The final choice is a great one and I love the Batarians.

My top DLCs are (no order):

Old World Blues - Fallout New Vegas. Was one of the few DLCs that I felt rivaled the main game.

Witcher 3 - Heart of Stone A true masterpiece and one of the best $10 values ever. I imagine that when combined with Blood and Wine the $25 for both expansions will be amongst the best ever in gamin.

Bioshock Infinite - both Rapture DLCs

Bioshock 2 - Minervas Den

Dishonred - Daud DLC

I know I am missing a few

Mass Effect 2: Lair of the Shadow Broker
Mass Effect 3: Leviathan & Citadel
The Last of Us: Left Behind
Smash 4: Characters (especially Ryu, Cloud and Bayonetta)

Shivering Isles is objectively the best piece of DLC ever created and I won't hear otherwise from any of you disgusting heathens out there.

All of the Smash 4 DLC characters are really good as well. Same with the stages. Not-so-much the Mii costume pieces, except for the Rathalos armor because yay Monster Hunter.

Bloodborne's Old Hunters DLC. It has a pretty good amount of content, but what really elevates it to greatness for me are the boss fights, which other than one of them I thought were all fantastic (the other one isn't bad either, just not as good). It also has the three hardest non-Chalice dungeon bosses in my opinion, and each one of them was so incredibly satisfying to finally take down.

This. It also makes the main game even better thanks to all the new tools (and there are a lot of them).

Mega Man 9: Endless Mode.

I played the hell out of that. It works so well for MM9, since that game really has the best overall weapon selection, especially in terms of versatility.

My favorite DLC lately has been the expansion packs to The Elder Scrolls Online. They each add a huge amount of content to the game such as new factions (Thieve's Guild), locations (Hrothgar), new passive skill trees, new equipment, etc.

The game is already vast and has a huge number of things to do, but I feel like the DLC really fleshes the game out and makes it feel more like an Elder Scrolls game. Usually when I play a single player Elder Scrolls game, I jump between faction quests pretty regularly so having them all available feels pretty natural. Additionally, the DLC can be played at any time and the game automatically normalizes your equipment (and to a lesser extent, your experience level) so you don't need a high level character to play the new content.

Later this month the Dark Brotherhood DLC is coming out and I'm pretty excited for it.

I love the idea of an MMO w/o a subscription... is there housing in the game?

How fun is it to solo the game? I likely won't play with others.

There isn't currently player housing in the game, but it's been teased by the developers so I think it's in the works. I imagine it'll be added in a future "Hearthfire"-like DLC where you can customize your living quarters to the n-th degree.

The game is a blast to play solo (in fact, I've never actually joined a party before despite having played for almost 200 hours). There are some dungeons that require it, but (so far, at least) they've all been completely optional. It kinda sucks having quests sit in your log that you can't do without a group so watch out for that if you're a "I have to tick absolutely every box always" kinda Elder Scrolls player - or just find an impromptu group using the in-game tools and complete the group dungeons with your fellow introverts. Either that or just come back when you're much higher level, as it's possible to solo the group dungeons too.

TLOU: Left Behind and BB: The Old Hunters are two semi-recent examples of not just DLC done right, but the type of DLC I enjoy that expands upon a game's story in meaningful, high quality ways. In The Old Hunters' case, all of the new additions make the vanilla game feel even more refreshing and fun.

Honestly for me Artorias of the Abyss was exactly what every single DLC should strive to be. While it's not necessary for the main story of the game
arguably I guess you could say that Manus could or was the real ultimate evil in that game
all it did was further lore knowledge and provide a good challenge and cool areas.

It was nonessential, but there for those who wanted MORE gameplay and MORE story. It's perfect.

Yeah, gonna echo Souls DLC. I'm playing Old Hunters right and it's really good. The bosses are rad as hell (well except one that kinda just pissed me off >>;)

And Cloud in Smash Bros. Shit man, it was my stupid 10 year old dream come true. He's so much fun to play too (my current main now).

Assassin's Creed III: The Tyranny of King Washington was incredible fun to play
except for that one glitch in chapter 1 that make it impossible to finish it if you don't know what you are doing

The DLC songs for Theatrhythm from games outside the Final Fantasy series, specially the Bravely Default ones.

Also Nintendo blessed my Wii U with a constant stream of quality content for Smash, Mario Kart and Hyrule Warriors. Slay!
