Your favorite video game soundtrack that doesn't get enough credit

latest

I mention this in every soundtrack thread. I seem to be the only one.

Soul Sacrifice Delta is legendary and nobody knows

My platinum trophy says otherwise. Fantastic game, fantastic soundtrack. Criminally underrated game. Some of Mitsudas best pieces on the OST.

I am actually thinking about playing the original Soul Sacrifice because I have only played Delta so far. There are not many games that make me consider such things.

And here I was making fun of my friend who loved the game because I though it was gonna be some tryhard grimdark angsty teenager shitfest. Now I am smarter I guess.

Hitoshi Sakimoto's Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together soundtrack is one of my favourites ever, yet no one ever talks about it. Seriously just listen to it from start to finish, it's phenomenal and some of his best work. Chaotic Island, Reminiscence, impregnable defence, Autumnal Sky, White Storm, Passing Moment, Theme of the Black Knight.

Most people think of FF Tactics when they think of Sakimoto, but this is his true gem.

That other thread about Nintendo and orchestrated soundtracks reminded me about how great Kid Icarus Uprising's soundtrack is.

Just tons of variety and quality all around. If you're someone from that thread I mentioned that believes Nintendo's soundtracks haven't been up to snuff recently I'd advise you to listen to this beauty right here.

Bloodborne. The game's soundtrack is the best From has produced to date and I feel like it's underrated. It didn't even get nominated in last year's VGA award for best music. The game has consistently great soundtracks. I'll never stop singing its praises.

SNES sim city, although in recent years I feel it's gotten more of the credit it deserves. Still, I always said that I prefered the snes version of sim city over any other and the ost is 100 percent of the reason why.

The original Fallouts. Much better and fitting for the setting than the Elder Scrollsy sound Bethesda introduced.

WET soundtrack. Just look it up and listen. Undead West should've been in RDR: Undead Nightmare's soundtrack tho

I only ever played the demo for the game, bitnI like the soundtrack.

The Tropical Freeze soundtrack will always be the GOAT, and it deserved all the awards it didn't get.

However, since it's already been posted in this thread I'll mention Pikmin 3. I wish the soundtrack was longer (and the game too!), but despite being short it packs so many beautiful tracks, for example:

Title Theme
Day Select
Garden of Hope (Morning)
Distant Tundra
Staff Credits

Though I recommend listening to it, it really should be enjoyed in conjunction with the game. This game has an impeccable atmosphere, and the music plays a huge role in achieving that.

Legacy of Kain
Eternal Darkness
Steve Henifin was a beast at delivering an ominous and atmospheric soundtrack.

Soul Reaver's soundtrack by Kurt Harland was a weird thing, like industrial/darkwave kind of, but it was oddly fitting and very cool. Plus the dynamic music that varies depending on the encounter was pretty unique at the time. And of course the intro, Ozar Midrashim (the Information Society song!), is a classic.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (written off by many as generic "Hollywood" stuff, could not disagree more and that's a shitty, completely ignorant criticism anyway)
No, not really.

Shining Force II
Good one. Amazing use of the Sega Genesis's soundchip there.

Same with Phantasy Star IV.

Final Fantsy XII

Hitoshi Sakimoto He did an excellent job here.
Came to post this. It doenst have a signature song like One Winged Angel, To Zenarkand or Terra's theme, but the whole package is right there among the best in the series. Thanks to the Ost, Ivalice feels like a much more believable world.

Well, this game won't get credit since it got demolished on Steam reviews and no one cares about Korean grinds anymore, but Tree of Savior has the most beastly soundtrack that invokes a Castlevania medieval kind of feel.

Really great use of Piano in a lot of their tracks. Some examples out of their 60+ track list:

Charty of Fire
Vaste Terre
Topaz
3rd Wave

Lair, my answer to these threads will allways be Lair. The track this playlist starts with is the main title screen, not even the main menu screen, it's literally the "press start" screen and it just gets better from there
Better than any "medieval epic" style soundtrack last gen.

The fact this game did so poorly that it probably scared John Debney away from making Videogame soundtracks is one of the biggest tragedies of last gen

I try to bring it up at every available opportunity as well, definitely deserves more recognition as one of the finest orchestral game soundtracks out there.

That's a shame. I, too, think it's the best Souls soundtrack yet.
