Your favourite XBOX 360 moments

Great topic!

Launch Day
I was in college and went to the midnight launch at my local EB Games. We had a pretty tight gamer community in Tallahassee, so I knew a lot of the people in line, and was friends with all of the staff. It was just a really pleasant atmosphere. Local pizza shops caught wind of the event and brought pizza to sell by the slice to everyone standing in line.

Launch Games
I bought Madden, Perfect Dark Zero, Condemned, PGR3, and Call of Duty 2 at launch and enjoyed them all for what they were. Call of Duty 2 is still my favorite CoD, and Condemned really stands the test of time. Even though I knew greater games were still to come, the 360 launch lineup was more than enough to make me feel justified in my purchase of the system. Geometry Wars also helped a lot in that regard. I also still have my launch model.

Gears 1
Played all of them except for Judgement, but the first time I popped Gears 1 into my Xbox I was blown away.

Oblivion, Skyrim, Bioshock Trilogy, Mass Effect Trilogy
These games managed to pull me into a game world unlike any other games ever have. I was completely and totally invested in these game worlds. When I wasn't playing these games I'd be thinking about them, checking wikis and whatnot. I was obsessed with all of them.

Halo 3,Halo:Reach, ODST, Halo 4
I just really fucking love Halo.

RRoD and Japanese Xbox Support
I moved to Japan in 2006 and brought my US model 360 with me. Since then it has red ring'd twice and the Japanese support has been incredible. Both times they had it back to me within 5 actual days. The second time my 360 red ring'd it was the same week as the 3/11 earthquake and tsunami. The repair center is actually in Fukushima, which was hit hardest of all. And God bless 'em, they were open and fixing all 360s for free, even if you had an expired warranty. Incredible service, although I hear they no longer service US model 360s. I really hope that's not true, because I feel like I'm about to have my 3rd RRoD.

Daww, I found these pics from my first play through of Halo 3 with my little bro.

The first was discovering that I could download games & demos right to my console on launch day. So cool!

But the one I will always remember is passing the 350 hour mark in Oblivion. I celebrated by running from Anvil all the way to Bravil and back again (the long way around), it was heavenly. To this day Oblivion is still the only 360 game that I have max achievements on because I just could not stop playing it.

Cooping games with my bro, playing split screen COD when friends stay the night at my house. Amazing games like Skyrim, Alan Wake, and Tales of Vesperia.

Oblivion and Gears launches were pretty great times. I remember a room of 6 or 7 people being blown away by Gears 1 graphics.

Jesus Christ, what did you do for those 250 hours after you had already maxed everything? That's awesome though. I've maxed achievements for Skyrim but not Oblivion and I've been itching to revisit.

Driving in Ferrari F50 cockpit view over the New York bridge for the first time in PGR3.
Playing Gears of War multiplayer all night long with people from all over the world.
Coop in Crackdown 1 with my cousin.

Playing Viva Pinata for the first time was really fun. The game looked gorgeous, and it had really addictive gameplay too.

Playing Crackdown was also easily some of the most fun I had with this gen early on. I will never forget the orb sound.

Though, it is really hard to beat when they announced the Slim was releasing the same week. That was epic.

How many people remember Bringing it Home?
E3 2006 and grabbing Test Drive Unlimited driving around for 15 mins and then the epic Lost Planet demo. I was thinking, this is fucking cool these games are at E3 right now and I'm sat at home playing the demos!

two games, my first was with GRAW, to me that was next gen and multiplayer was amazing. Second was Halo 3 and learning you could board those beasts with different vehicles. Halo 3 was amazing from start to finish. Halo 1>3>4 then reach/halo 2 and odst/wars

although i have kind of soured on the 360 due to so many things being behind paying for gold i have had one since late 2008. the most fun i had with an exclusive is crackdown that game was so fun. also really enjoyed mark of the ninja. as far as games i liked the most playing on 360 but are available on other platforms: bastion, might and magic: clash of the heroes, outland, the force unleashed, xmen origins wolverine, batman arkham asylum and skate 2

i still need to play alan wake and ive had blue dragon forever and never seen to have time for it.

Playing Viva Pinata Trouble in Paradise and being amazed at the visuals.

Building my first vehicle in Banjo N&B that could fly and then taking it out for a spin.

Lost Odyssey.

Using my voice to navigate from the dashboard to a movie playing via Netflix using Kinect.

FFXIII announcement.

My three favorite/memorable moments I can think of the 360.

  • Playing Gears Of War for the first time.

  • Spending countless hours online playing COD4, a multiplayer game that captured my soul.

  • Watching E3 2008 for the megaton FFXIII.

COD 4 Beta
COD 2 Launch (thought 60fps would be standard because of this lol)

RROD on Gears launch day. :( BOught a new console that day.

I'm playing 1 vs a 100 with 4 random dudes all night. Making Jokes and shit, neither of those get to do pretty well because we where kind of dicks to each other. Then randomly one of us gets selected to be the 100.

That moment we all came together, and deliberated said the right answers to help our guy win against the One. He lost because the guy selected was some crazy Genius, but it was really fun.

- oblivion was the first hd game i played. coming out of the murky sewer to this bright, huge fantasy world was so impressive in 2006.

- playing a ton of halo 3 online. the only multiplayer game i've got into really but i had a blast putting on a podcast and jumping into team deathmatch.

- collecting agility orbs in crackdown. so fucking fun.

- getting hooked on breeding in viva pinata. i would play with my sister and we really bonded over that game.

- played rez for the first time on 360. the area 4 boss followed by area 5 was mind blowing.

- the competition i had with my friend on geometry wars 2. we fought over every level. also getting all the achievements in it.

- finishing mass effect at 4am. the story in that game was so well paced and exciting towards the end i couldn't stop playing.

all my memories are from near the start of its life, i barely use my 360 anymore :(

Most people don't remember this because it was so long ago. The Halo 3 trailer came out and it was exclusive to 360 owners from marketplace before being put on websites. I ran to my friends house in my pajamas because I didnt have a 360. It was the afternoon so kids from school were just getting out and I'm sprinting through the street in my pajamas. Got to my friends house and he was just as excited. We sat waiting for the download to finish while just talking about halo because back then you couldn't download while playing games because it wasn't part of the 360 OS. Then we had our minds blown by the trailer.

The first summer Gears of War was out. God. My favorite time since the 360 launched. Ill never forget the people I met, the hours I spent and all the fun I had on gears. Party chat ruined everything.

Rock Band was pure madness, in a great way.

I often forget that Guitar Hero and to a lesser extent Rock Band were part of this generation. Mainly due to how long the cycle went on for and the fact nobody talks about/ seems to play them anymore. I sold my Guitar Hero long ago... Crazy when you think it was Call of Duty popular at one point.

The 360 was huge for me because it was the first time I was introduced to Western RPG's. I had never owned an xbox, so I picked up a 360 with Oblivion, Kotor1 and Kotor2. Needless to say it single-handedly changed my gaming life.

When my Xbox Red Ringed right before Halo 3 launch, and the second time it Red Ringed during Metal Gear Revengence Demo. Now I don't own an Xbox.

Waiting in line at 6am with my dad at Sam's Club. Didn't realize until later how cool my dad was for doing that.

Hot-seating Bioshock with my two best friends, with all of us bickering and backseat driving the whole way.

COD Beta - I've since grown tired of FPS, but early Modern Warfare days were truly a blast.

Playing Crackdown for literally 3 days straight when I wasn't in class.

Curling up with Mass Effect during christmas break in a dark and cozy room with snow falling outside, hot chocolate at hand and a big happy dog at my feet.

Hours upon hours of Spelunky with my girlfriend that continues to this day.

Working together with my GF to solve Fez utilizing a couple notebooks. Cracking all the stupid embedded messages and getting all of the Anti cubes. Taking breaks to eat Thai food and watch Netflix.

All the hype for Halo 3. I was constantly visiting the website and viewing that replica war zone thing.

Getting GTA IV and playing it for the first time.

Playing GRAW online multiplayer with all my friends. That was my first online console experience with so many friends.

Buying a copy of the Halo 3 Beta and coming across this little old free bundled game called Crackdown ...which turned out to be way more fun than the Halo 3 beta.

First time my mum controlled the Xbox using kinect. Then her and my wife using lovefilm and kicking me out the room as they knew what they were doing... Good times.

Here's a sloppy list of my favorite moments on Xbox 360,

Geometry Wars
Perfect Dark HD with almost every Goldeneye Map
Daytona USA
Fighting Vipers
Sonic Championship
Beautiful Katamari
Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown
Tekken on Xbox
Final Fantasy on Xbox
Ridge Racer on Xbox
Saints Row franchise
Child of Eden Kinect
Borderlands 2
Lost Planet 2
6 player co-op Castlevania.
Dead Rising
Spartan in Dead or Alive 4
Halo franchise
Mortal Kombat's return.
Updated controller dpad!
new boot screen intros keeping the console fresh.

Halo 3 custom games with friends. Valhalla, increased speed + jumping, all spartan lasers was so fun. Halo 3 lans were really fun as well.

First game I played was Gears of War. The graphics amazed me beyond anything I could have expected.

Shadowrun(2007) had a great community for the longest time.

Most fun I've ever had with an MMO was on Phantasy Star Universe.

I didn't have an HDTV (or monitor) for the first few years of the 360, so HD wasn't as big a deal for me for a while. (I was one of those people that couldn't read text in Banjo Nuts and Bolts, haha)
Stuff like Kameo with its thousands of on screen characters and Perfect Dark's amazing brick textures were what first blew me away.

Assassin's Creed was the first game I was like: "Holy shit, THIS is next gen!" The animation is so amazing in those games and it's still a major weak link in many games (looking at you Witcher 2).

The Mass Effect trilogy. It was great if you played as you rather than min-maxing your first playthrough.

ME is great even after beating it for the third/fourth time to get all the achievements. I played ME1 at least 7 times all the way through I think. ME2 at least 3 times, probably more like 4-5.

Only twice for ME3 because I don't want to play it as Renegade Shep. The evil stuff you can choose to do is SUPER fucked up and I think it's a credit to the characters and story over the games that I haven't been able to play it that way in 3. In 1 and 2 the "renegade stuff you do is less evil and more just cold/badass. In 3 you are killing/dooming entire species at your whim.

Reading the first story from a thousand years of dreams in Lost Odyssey.

The first Next-Gen soccer game with PES was absolutely awesome, I still wonder how many hours we played...

Getting Dead Rising was already quite hard here but once I got it, it was pure magic.
It felt like a funny version of the old Dawn of the Dead.
I spent the first two days just hanging around and exploring the entire mall.

The Final Fantasy announcement was also one of my highlights and even every other J-RPG announcement by Square that day was glorious.
The 360 had a bucketload of decent to awesome J-RPGs that I definitly enjoyed until there was none :/

The release of Halo 3.

I can remember running to my Dad's work after school to pick up my copy. I had preordered the Limited Edition but he picked up a standard copy by mistake. That didn't matter though. I just wanted to play it. I got home as soon as possible, shut my blinds, and played the campaign all night. The excitement I had leading up to that game was immense. Hell, it's the reason I bought an Xbox 360.

Bungie didn't disappoint.

Kameo at launch, riding through legions of orcs on my horse

Gears of War, the first head pop

Halo 4, the whole thing - i know, i'm strange, but i actually liked the game more than 3
