• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

Your least favorite genre of game.

none because every game can be good if done correctly, maybe EA Sport games if I had to answer.

remeber how wrong you were about anime? guess you're the same with JRPG's. Some JRPG's have amazing turn based combat or are action JRPG's. You probably played one where every random battle was won with spamming attack.

Stop generalizing.

Are we not allowed to have opinions?

Are we not allowed to have opinions?

you can say whatever you want and have any opinion you want, but he went and made an anime thread and said every anime is about girly men making "weird noises". Now a game thread and calling all JRPG's dumb.

I'm not bashing anyone that just saying they don't like JRPG's, because they may have their well deserved reasons, but coming to GAF and making a thread and insulting the genre in an obviously uninformed way, I'm gonna call him out for it.

2d puzzle platformer with really heavy emphasis on puzzle. I get frustrated easily and lot the time those games just bored me to tears.

Turn based strategy games (especially SRPGs) and first person shooters. I don't play very many RTS games either, but that's mostly because I suck at them.

Sports (with the only recent exception being Everybody's Tennis)
FPS
RTS

I'm also getting more and more tired of 2D games in general except of fighting games.

I don't like sim games of any kind. Turns out it doesn't really matter what's being simulated, be it city building, team management, or anything else. There's just no carrot for me in those things.

Realistic racing\Sports games.

RTS too when I think about it, I played back then but I was always getting my ass handed to me online so I dropped it. :(

Sports and turn based strategic rpgs. Like Shining Force, Fire Emblem, UGH. LET ME PLAY! I DON'T WANT TO WATCH THE COMPUTER TAKE 10 MINUTES TO MOVE HIS FUCKING CHARACTERS WHILE I TAKE 10 SECONDS TO MOVE MY CHARACTERS!

Also, every time you get into a battle, the battle music starts. When you finish the battle, you're taken back to the overworld and the overworld music restarts. Then you get into another battle, the battle music starts from the beginning, then back to the overworld with THE MUSIC RESTARTED AGAIN! How can people bare listening to the first 10 seconds of 2 songs over and over and over and over!? It drives me insane.

Side-scrolling platformers, for sure. For some reason I am fine with 3D platformers but I just cannot get excited about 2D side scrolling ones.
I probably sound like such a graphics whore right now, lol.

EDiT: Although I suppose that's not really a genre...

I'm with ya. I have this sense of guilt when I'm simulating things that I could be doing in real life. I guess Second-Life would be the most egregious violator in the sim category.

Fighters, hands down. I think for me I want something that is simpler in controls. I don't mind if the game is hard but I don't want to memorise a zillion control combos, nor spend the time to master the animation timing and things like that.

Fighting games are boring and ridiculous. Every single last one of them. Obviously, the fact that I am rubbish at them has no bearing on my opinion.

Adventure games and Western RPGs probably

Too much of a slow burn

Sports and Racing sims

JRPG's with a few exceptions

MOBA's, I don't hate them, but try as I might I just cant get into them

RTS games because I'm awful at them. I don't really dislike them, I can watch people play, I just can't play them myself.

Sports, jRPG's (not because of the combat, but because of the story/animation style), FPS (I do like em, but I'm burnt out)
