Your local library probably has a videogame section

My city's main library has one, but it's not exactly extensive. PS3 and 360 only, no next-gen or Wii U. Still, I'll try them out someday if I see a game I want.

Yeah, mine does. Xbox One and PS4 games too. Lots of Blu Rays as well. It feels almost wrong taking them out! Like you go up to the desk and say "wait, you're going to let me borrow this for free... just coz? whaaaaaa?"

I just did an online search and my library doesn't carry games but apparently ones in the sizable collective network do. It was a bit amusing to see which towns in the network were the ones who did have large game collections, they tended to be the lower income areas.

I like to donate books to my local library on occasion, but I haven't checked anything out in years...

My library doesn't carry video games but a neighboring library system does.

Edit

Tax money hard at work.

Yep, I actually game most of my collection of 360 and PS3 games to my local library with the exception of a few gems I couldn't let go. Was somewhere close to 80 in total. I'd figure some one might try something new and fall in love with a game they'd otherwise never try. Hope some one else loves the Yakuza series now :) .

People who are still on the fence about certain games, there is a good chance your local library has a videogame section. Mine has a vast PS3/360 section with about a hundred games each, and very good games as well, been playing through Dark Souls I got from my library. They also have a growing PS4/X1 section thats no joke either, and I dont live in a particularly "rich" area.

So yeah not a lot else to say. Go check out your local library, they probably have games you can rent for free. Best way would be just google your library and use their media search to see if they have them.

Ours does here in Ohio, Cuyahoga County, that's Cleveland for the uninformed....

Pretty cool except there is usually a long wait list

Local library here has lent out video games since the late 90s, with PSone and N64 games. The selections on the top floor is for kids and the bottom floor is for games aimed at teens and adults. Not sure if they have PS4 and Xbox One titles (I don't own either so I've never looked for them) but I know for sure they have 3DS and Wii U games.

I had no idea I could donate my games to my local library.

I'd much rather do that than give them to Gamestop for pennies so they can rip people off with them.

I only ever played Arkham Asylum (arguably my fourth favorite game of all time now) thanks to the video game section at my library; probably wouldn't have touched the game otherwise. Libraries are cool.

My local library doesn't carry video games, but a library about 3 miles away does. Got Wii, Wii U, PS2, PS3, PS4, Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One games. <3

It's great cause I can rent out titles that I'm not sure if they're worth buying and play 'em for a week.

where the hell do you guys live? lol

then again i haven't been to a library in years. back before netflix i used to go to my los angeles public libraries to rent dvds. they had an OK selection...mostly just donations though. would often see like random episodes of Dragonball Z lol

Huh, I peeked around to see what other weird things the libraries here offer and I didn't realize they have a 'makerspace.' Seems cool as shit, with 3D printers and a green screen and MIDI keyboards and stuff.

You can also borrow Raspberry pis and other odd things.

edit - I'm totally trying out that book printer

It's crazy, I didn't find out about this until a few months ago.

(Canada) and our libraries get games the day they come out, but only a few copies.

You can "preorder" them and get put on a waitlist and they notify you by email when your game is ready to pick up.

You can keep it for 2 weeks and then sign it out again after if you want. All for no charge.

My friend has Far Cry and Lego Batman right now from the library.

My town got a brand new library this year and they now carry videogames. Last time I was there they had a small selection of popular games like GTAV and Destiny.
