Your Mortal Kombat 10 wishlist

What do you mean "even the likes"? Quan Chi was one of the best characters introduced in MK4. And I'm not even talking about his Fatalities (beating defeated fighter with his own leg...) but character as a whole. He was the mastermind behind the whole plot. Compared to him Shinnok was a wimp.

However, his design sucked.

You are right without Quan Chi there would be no Kratos it was so awesome whooping Kratos w/ Quan Chi in MK9.

back in the day Quan Chi had the funniest fatalities one you already mentioned then the one where he jumped on the opponents shoulders and he dished out the ET neck in MKD.A. that should have been a friendship since it was hilarious & the Kombatantremained alive.

MK 4 also had the best endings.
Scorpian- Live well Lin Quei warrior!
Sub-Zero- *whispers* arrrrrrrrrrrright

I'm hoping that they do not invest too much time on those mini games, they have to focus on the actual gameplay.

I actually don't mind if some of those characters that died in the story mode remain dead such as Kung Lao and Kabal.

Will Cyrax return? The only reason why NRS did not remove his resets was because they did not know how. They might have to change his movelist a bit to bring him back.

They should introduce a couple of new characters, 6 would be ideal.

Same practice mode as Injustice. But no Clash, stage transitions and interactables.

BUFF Rain.

-If the body damage stays, scale it back and make it more realistic. The bulging eye coming out of the socket and bottom lip ripped off looks ridiculous, especially for a character who's calmly doing their win pose.
This, here. I'd like to see battle damage stay, but at a level where you can believe the character who won will live to see another day and without radical reconstructive surgery. Some of them were absolutely absurd. Kano get's his entire cheek ripped off in one of his costumes. Good god.

And fix Sonya's design. I don't know what the hell they were thinking when they did that, but Jesus. Actually, fix like every design. They need better designers over there that need to be told "less is sometimes more." A lot of them were overdesigned to the maximum.

Heck, just hire the guy who drew these. He knows what's up.

And bring back most of the characters from MK9, I'd rather not see what kind of cast they attempt to make after murdering a good half of the best characters in the game's storyline. I still don't know what they were thinking with the game's storyline. It's supposed to be this big reboot, but they just took reaper's scythe to the cast in the story.

Also, Shinnok can be in, but, do, like, something, to make him actually badass and not this doofus.

  • Better Netcode
  • Reduce the "Dialing" feel of inputting combos. Make it so combo strings are input with timing relative to the animation on screen, not input as fast as you can and then played out while you let go of the controller.
  • Hitbox display in training mode
  • Frame data in game that is generated by the game, not typed in by hand by an employee
  • Unique aerial attacks
  • Trade hits
  • Add Just Defend
  • Make projectiles clash instead of passing through each other
  • Real grapplers
  • Not every character needs a projectile
  • Attack name calls and dialogue phrases in battle, not just grunts and MK gibberish
  • Better, more catchy soundtrack
  • More stylized visuals, going more towards drawn art than realism
  • Hitsparks
  • Lots of new characters
  • Do NOT add Interactables
  • Keep block button

I cut the stuff I disagreed with.

  • Remove "Flip Stance", and mirror the characters instead of having them show their backs
  • Entirely 2 dimensional hitboxes

I think this can't be fixed due to the nature of their 3d engine. It is extremely doubtful they'll remake it to fix these things.

As for my own ideas.

  • Build up on the ideas they had for ranged combos.
  • AIr dashing.
  • Allow for multi chain grabs but implement something similar to Tekken's just defend system. The difference being instead of breaking the grab you can option to reduce damage or change the position of where you end up after the grab chain is finished.
  • Remove building up meter from blocking.

No way! Speeding them up would be wack. May as well super speed up SF IV Ultras & Supers while you are at it * please don't *

They're funny/cool the first time, but they become such a chore to watch. Just make them not slow-motion or something and it'd be fine, but they take up so much time in a fight.

1. No interactables in backgrounds.
2. Keep block button
3. Good netcode
4. Keep some or all of the universal normals
5. Keep most of MK9 cast, and bring back cyber smoke if possible (the only one they did dirty from umk3)

Coming from someone who played MK9 in tourneys, and still plays it regularly online and with friends: Don't make it like Injustice. I hate the floaty jumping, the flying-as-walking, the inconsistent jump hits, the cheap and gimmicky interactables, unbalanced characters, cheap and too-high damage combos, etc. I bought it day one because I loved Netherrealm games since the day MK1 came out. But the game infuriates me and I cant get into it, even though i keep on playing and practicing it and giving it tries, it doesnt work for me at all, and I aint the only mk player put off by it.

I really just want them to keep it 2D, improve character models and animations, and bring over the characters from MK9.

Anyone have any idea of how long it will be until we see at least a trailer?

Welcome to all supers/ultras in all fighting games. I'm guessing you probably didn't play SFxT :lol

Super Wishful Thinking:
Mortal Kombat 4-player Power Stone style. They already drew concept art for it years ago.

Hopeful Thinking:
- Chess and Puzzle Kombat and whatever else Deception had. That game was right.
- Tanya and Fujin at the very least if remnants of MK4 is anything to go by in story.
- Uh... story resurrects the fallen of MK9. Actually, one of the flaws of Deadly Alliance/Deception was the forgettable new characters besides the females really. Some new characters are nice, but I don't want to hold my breath since the studio is pretty bad at character aesthetics.
- MORE clothing on the females. Mileena sure, dress her down. But Kitana is a Klassy lady, ok?

The problem with QC and Shinnok character-wise, in my opinion, was that originally, there really was no "build up" for them. To even get a bit of insight on them back around MK4's timeframe meant that you had to play through MK:SZM. If you didn't, the two really just came out of nowhere, and definitely had a tough act to follow in the wake of Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn. (And it didn't help that Shinnok was a glorified Shang Tsung rip-off in MK4, either.)

Later games did everything in their power to prop QC especially as a badass mastermind (natch, cuz he's one of Boon's favorite characters). But I guess I'm just of the opinion that I really didn't like him until MK9 cleaned up his overall plotline and made him even more fun to play. Now he's one of my go-to's, oddly enough...

Mortal Kombat 3 had two versions of the game, and then shortly after that they made mortal Kombat Trilogy. So a lot of the pre MK4 characters were in 2 -3 games by the time MK4 rolled around.

Given them kind of a more iconic feel.

But mainline games have always been 50% new vs 50% returning cast, and there were plenty of good characters created after MKT.

Kenshi is a great example of that. That's why he got to be in MK9.

I play tons of fighting games, thanks.

The slow motion and generally boring look of the X-rays just makes them far less interesting than most supers in fighting games. They overstay their welcome.

Keep it simple. Really enjoyed the first 2 games, but the combat mechanics got too complicated after that. Base/template move set for all characters mixed in with special moves that make each character unique is best.

I can understand them being repetitive perhaps they could make 3 per character. Just give us a ton more of everything forget the krypt & side stuff just ad a ton more in fight things. Keep the story mode though do not reduce the violence allow us to perform the fatalities on the characters you choose to kill off in the storyline. If it is to soon have the fatality logically interupted or have multiple outcomes. I liked challenge tower a lot but would see it as a necessary sacrifice for an awesome branching story mode.

I really want everything from Injustice in but further fleshed out. Please get a DC special character in as well.

Why? I love both games but Injustice combo system is so great its virgin tight.

Very beautiful art but MK is not about A-cups since they did have playboy playmate Kerri Hoskins as the digitized Sonja Blade in MK 3 Also as the Ninja Chicks. Man when I was a kid I was so in love with Mortal Kombat broads.

The MK broads in MK 9 were very beautiful in a plastic porn star saline breast augmentation type of way.

Also have Soul Calibur-esq Katas with Sub- Zero performing to his awesome 90's soundtrack song.

They are never going to change their animations. They have gone on record saying its their style and they like it, and the people who have been mokaping and animating for them have been working at the studio for 15+ years, and I doubt they are going to fire anybody at this point.

The best way to "fix" the animations would be for them further remove all the 3D mechanics from their engine. Specifically the slow as shit normals and combo strings. In MK9 and Injustice, characters have very slow attacks compared to basically any other 2D fighting game on the market. Then the awkward combo strings, which take forever, and look silly, and you can do the full combo on wiff. Need to go back to chain combos that only work on hit and block, like in MK3/4.

Animations would still suck, but they wouldn't linger on the screen forever for you to notice them sucking. And it would just make the game feel better overall.

Characters I want for MK10.
.
Tanya
Fuijin
Kai
Reiko
Shinnok
Nitara(to replace Jarek cause he sucks, and Hawkgirl was awesome in Injustice because of her wings)
BoRaiCo(Every fighting game needs a fat guy)
Playable Goro
Skarlet
Kenshi
Rain
Freddy(Just his moveset, on a new character)
Red Hood

All the dead dudes stay dead, at least for for one or two games.

They aren't making a Mortal Kombat without Sub-Zero. They tried it without Scorpion back in MK3 and everyone bitched.

And I'll be damned if they give me another Mortal Kombat without Liu Kang, those bastards.

Thinking back, who did all die?
Kung Lao
Shang Tsung
Noob Saibot (maybe)
Jax
Jade
Stryker
Kabal
Smoke
(Cyber) Sub-Zero
Nightwolf
Sindel
Kitana
Liu Kang
That's an awful lot of characters to drop. Many of them big time fan favorites, too. I think they learned their lesson with replacing fan favorites with their attempts at new characters in Deadly Alliance and Deception. At least, they should have.

Like Dairou. What the hell was the point of that guy.

The soulnado™ will probably cleanse Noob and return him to being Sub-Zero for the sequel.

Plus there is always Killer Frost.

Eh...MK9 is about as close to MK1/2 designs as we have ever gotten even if they still can't get reptile right (damn it.)

I don't see how they are similar. MK1 characters are actual humans dressed in clothes, MK9 characters are freaks of nature (at least the women) with some ugly-ass or straight up ridiculous costumes. I agree with the sentiment because I really like the simple and functional feel of the designs from the first game. The characters have clothes you could actually fight in (for the most part) and (obviously) actual human bodies.

The women from the first few games look nothing like the MK9 women, with the exception of Sheeva.

I eat up everything NRS does, but I would love a sprite based mk in the art style you just posted. I think it would look really dark and gritty.

I dont even know. I loved MK and put TONS and TONS of hours into it and even teh demo before it....I guess I just want it to be next gen in all aspects.

I hope Netherrealm is paying attention. Main universally agreed upon messages to come out of this thread that need to happen.

  • Good female faces
  • Good animations
  • Good Netcode.

^Agreed

And bring back Old Man Sub Zero and his move set. Better still bring back weapons for fighters, but make it a option and a aside move set.

I just want the core game to be good then they can worry about all the extra characters and features. MK9 was a fucking abomination of bad ideas.

Better bosses. I had my first fight against Shao Kahn yesterday and good god, if one of the easiest (and most preferable) method to defeat a boss is to stay as far as you can and spam projectiles for the entire time because otherwise the fight is either impossible to win or is simply frustrating, then you know the boss is shit.

I would prefer block being back rather than a button but I can live with that. I really just want to not have to cheese the bosses. Ruins what is an otherwise fun single player game. MK9 arcade mode is ruined by knowing you have to do this really boring fight at the end and same with its story mode.

Im sure people will argue that that is part of it but its not a part that is remotely fun.

Shao Kahn is a lot easier to beat than that, actually. Just jump over him and he'll try to hit you with his hammer. By the time you land behind him he'll still be on the hammer animation. Combo his ass. Repeat.

Really the only complaint I have about MK9 is Shang Tsung. Give me the shapeshifting of old. I want to be able to turn into anyone, not just who I am fighting.

What is your hopes dreams and desires for Mortal Kombat 10 outside good netcode?

Heres my wishlist

  • Day one PC version
  • Keep the amazing story modes in the vain of MK9, MK vs DC Universe
  • Keep all the characters from MK9 (minus Freddy and Kratos)
  • Keep it 2D
  • Add Tanya
  • Add Bo' Rai Cho
  • Add Nitara
  • Get rid of Ranked and Player matches and go full lobbys minus the text chat restriction of like 3 words.
  • Bring back Puzzle Kombat
  • Bring back Motor Kombat
  • Bring back Chess Kombat
  • Maybe add Kard Kombat (like a full on TCG)
  • Movado costume for Kabal
  • Make the female faces actually look female

Well GAF?
my wishlist: Completely ignore your wishlist

Add Kai
Add Fujin
Add Tanya
Add Reiko
Add Shinnok
Keep the entire roster from MK9
Work on the female faces
Give Rain a prominent role in the story mode. Give him a chapter.
Find a way to make Sub-Zero human again or introduce another Sub-Zero. One is Cyber, one is Noob and the other is the new Sub-Zero.
Human Smoke is a G so he stays human.
New characters. One or two as part of the standard roster. More as dlc.
Forget everyone else past MK4. Only good character that game after that games was Kenshi and he's already in.
Work on the animations and make them more fluid

This.

Seriously, my biggest complaint about MK9 was the poor character/costume design and the terrible animations.

I think that character design itself was all right (well, if you ignore that all women had barely any clothes on). I really like all the concept arts that you can get from the Krypt. It's the execution, i.e. 3D models, that sucks. If you look at concept arts female fighters don't look like Barbie dolls with D-cup breasts, and male fighters don't all look as if they were on steroids.
