Your Mortal Kombat 10 wishlist

Have the plot revolve around a wedding between Shao Kahn and Sonya Blade!

I'd pay good money to see this.

So is this game ever coming out or what? I wish we had more info on it.

Probable E3 announcement/reveal, followed by a april-ish 2015 release date if it follows their usual release schedule. Then again, this is their first next gen game so it could take longer. And it's possible they're also working on a Shoalin monks adventure type game since they've wanted to take a break from developing fighting games for a while. Whether that's after mk10 or it's happening now, who knows.

- No shitty characters (don't bring back THESE characters, the only one worth keeping was Quan Chi and that's already covered). Shinnok is okayish I guess, but please no garbage like Tanya, Li Mei or Hotaru.
- No stupid animations. Unbelievable how they kept a lot of the ridiculous and janky animations from the PS2 era such as the "oh, you killed me? hadn't notice, will fall or put myself on fatality position after I shake off my head and/or stand up" or the one that makes the defeated character be in a frozen and stupid position after a final uppercut or similar.
- Use the damn artwork. The VS screen art is fucking horrid and again, it's unbelievable how they can use this over this or this over this. Please... This franchise has awesome characters and stuff, stop making it shitty on purpose. No more terrible renders from photoshop beginners.
- No more Unreal Engine 3 please, it's just ugly. Oh, and next time have the decency to actually change the faces of the characters. Everyone in MK9 has the exact same facial structure. I find incredible how they didn't give a shit about this.
- Build a proper netcode so the game is barely playable online.
- Stop killing Sub-Zero. Enough of the Ed Boon Scorpion husbando bullshit, stop trying so hard, he will never be cooler or more popular.

Nothing else I can think right now. MK9 was one of the best fighters ever (haters gonna hate) and definitely the best Mortal Kombat. I'm glad it revitalized such a great franchise. Hopefully they don't fuck it up now.

I wish they'd give Shao Kahn a Shang Tsung-style demotion and let us have a new boss character. I don't want him gone I just want him...different.

I want them to go one of two ways: Go fully self-aware, Blood Dragon style. ramp up the cheesiness that the game started taking after MK3, and try and replicate the 90s digitized sprite look in 3D

or

somewhat reboot. New story. New characters. Keep the atmosphere and design darker and inspired by MK1 and 2. None of that cybernetic bullshit that started infesting MK3 and beyond. Definitely get some new artists/designers as the series has been hurting in that department.

Am I the only one wanting to hold back to block instead of pressing a button in an MK game? I think it could be nice since it was implemented in Injustice.

This and most of the cast from 9 returning. Interesting newcomers would be nice too.

Keep the Cage alive

  • Diversify body-sizes and movement capabilities
    Add multi-throws
    Add new close-combat techniques (multi-functional reversals/parries?)
    Stage interactions
A mode where Kitana can't throw 4564645043453 fans
    Frost
    Reiko
    Mavado
    Nitara (a.k.a. Hawkgirl 2.0)
    Tremor
    and Robo-Reptile, ftw

I like both ideas, and would honestly do both. You can't make MK serious, not with characters like 'Sub-zero' and 'Scorpion' at the heart of it. MK9 was ridiculously silly fun. Keep going in that direction and all will be fine.

  • Scanned 3D actors with mocap animation & accurate lighting model
  • KI-style combo system (openers, linkers, finishers)
  • Run button/mechanism (think of it as a continuous dash with a penalty)
  • Reset the story and spin it on its head - MK in the middle ages / MK in the future / MK in the crusades / MK in feudal Japan or even reverse the roles (Lui Kang is bad / Shao Kahn is good)

Keep giving me badass versions of Sub-Zero. Actually, make him OP and make him the central character. Also, make him appear in every other game being made.

As you can tell, I'm a very big Sub-Zero fan.

As people have said. Better animation, new engine (non UE3) and better models for characters especially for the females which looked like Chyna clones. Oh and one more thing that bothered me is that characters didn't look like they made hit contact with each other, it was as if they were hitting air instead.

There's just something so stiff about the animations (also shared normals) that need to be addressed.

Apart from that, I really loved MK9.

Am I the only one wanting to hold back to block instead of pressing a button in an MK game? I think it could be nice since it was implemented in Injustice.

Ordinarily for all the crossups, mixups and high low stuff this is perfect...however look at the moves in MK9. If they got rid of the block button in that series they'd have to scrap the moveset of MOST of the roster. Not just retool...completely toss and start over. Things like Scorpion's teleport proved in pre-patch Injustice that back to block vs certain MK tools doesn't hold up. Just think of the nightmare of Lao's teleport.

I want.

  • No IAFB (instant air fireballs). This on top of all of kabal's other stuff was insanely broken
  • Fix Cyrax's reset tools. The bomb is fine, but for god sake's the net coupled with that means even if you drop you get around 45%
  • Make the bulk of projectiles clash and destroy each other. This way runaway games like those present in several of the cast isn't so easy to implement. Some can have projectiles that multihit or are too fast to break, but its based on moveset.
  • GIVE BREAKERS THEIR OWN SEPERATE GAUGE! When you make offensive tools and defensive tools share meter its always sketchy and just like in TVC no one went for Xrays unless it killed because it was FAR more valuable to break combos with your meter. EX and Breaker is all folks would use. Make a seperate gauge that fills slowly like the Hyper gauge in SF 4 and go for it. Breakers are a lazy man's way of not balancing gravity scaling, meter gain, resets and damage anyways.
  • Get rid of block dashing. If you want wave dash make it NORMAL cancellable but do not leave dashes block cancellable. It makes people's approach too bold. The game was extremely rushdown centered at times due to the cornering this offered.
  • Corner game was bad. Look at Johnny Cage in the corner...a nightmare. Add an alpha counter usage for people trapped in blockstring to choose to blow meter for an attack that you can't convert into a combo that blows them back to neutral on the screen . NOT FULLSCREEN. That would overly benefit zoners even with the projectile changes.
  • Add the F3 and B3 bounces from IGAU. They were useful and would work well in MK9. Even the armored EX ones. Gives folks a really respectable GTFO.
  • MAKE STAGES THE SAME SIZE. I cannot stress enough that it should ALWAYS be a level playing field at the stage select screen and that it is BAD that certain stages give certain cast advantages. Rushdown guys picking small stages for cornering and zoners picking huge stage is wrong. You can't gauge skill with those kind of handicaps.
  • NETCODE IMPROVEMENT. Dear god...IGAU is a step up but its no picknick. Its something like Vanilla Marvel and that wasn't good. Not horrible like MK but not good. Keep pushing this and use some Rollback Netcode here.
  • FIX THE STANCE ISSUES WITH COMBOS! I know this game utilizes hit spheres or boxes that are generated by the characters limbs and that caused scenarios where if your back was to the camera some combos DIDN"T WORK. That is horrible that the side you face dictates that. Setup a 2d Hitbox that spawns so far in front of a character's base coordinates on the X and Y planes in UDK and do NOT use the limbs as the part of the body that generates hit boxes. This way no matter which side you face the move comes out and works properly. I know you are big on aesthetics and dont believe in mirroring characters when they face the opposite side but this was done for a reason...its so that if someone punches with their left hand and when facing the camera it is further away from the target so that it's range isn't suddenly buffed if they turn around and face the other way. Either base hitboxes of center coordinates and adjust animations so that they never overly extend when facing the opposite side making players misjudge distances on attacks or do what most do because it works and mirror them.
  • Dont go with the kind of soundtrack IGAU had in matches. Its fine to go with orchestral during story but it is a HUGE hype killer during the bulk of the matches people play outside of story mode. Compose some stage themes that are designed to keep crowd and player energy high. It'll give a more lasting impression of excitement.

My contribution -

Use serious, no joke I just want you dead, fatalities for most characters and avoid senseless fatalities. E.g. It's not expect for any Ninja would slice off someone head then slice the body into pieces afterwards when they already know the person is dead from the first blow. Another example is Sonya's splits fatality, and Reptile's acid in mouth followed by removing the victim's stomach which doesn't make sense. Process should be torture first then kill or go for a straight cold hearted and powerfully executed kill. Also need to continue being creative, like Sindel ear scream fatality (sounds insane on a great sound system) and Reptile's gut explosion

Use MUCH BETTER music! Last MK music was too humdrum on certain stages. Bring back the same music composer that done the music for Mortal Kombat 2 and 3. Music really brought MK to life in MK 2 and 3. If anything, better technology doesn't always mean better music so it's best to stick to the same tech that was used for the MK2 and 3 incredible music.

Bring back the Uppercut animation and major impact sound effect and crowd "ooooooo!" that was used in MK1 and MK2. Use for all characters.

Improve the hit collision, mechanics, and make the animation more fluent. Many animations are too robotic and pale in comparison to other fighting games. The game is slightly difficult to get into for many players.

Improve the Death/Fatality music! Simple is best! When the music hits it should sound like Doomsday has passed over thus sending a chill down a person's spine, and the sound effects along with execution timings should make up for the missing elements to make everything sound and appear far greater and worse than it is. MK1 and MK2 does this well: MK1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2JNxeWO_wA

Don't even think about putting in combo fatalities, they are awful.
