Your most pleasant surprise Switch announcement from the presentation and after

Project Octopath Traveler - This was really beautiful. This is the kind of game I didn't know I wanted. But I do. Big time.

Ultra Street Fighter II - Sorry, I am hype. I don't play competitive fighting games and its not likely the FGC will be hardcore on a nintendo platform. That means I have a chance. SSF2T has always been one of my favorite games, and seeing it available with full CPS2 art has me swooning. Day 1 for me, and likely an arcade stick.

Switch itself? Basically what I thought, with a little more details on motion controls and HD rumble. Both features are worthless to me. Hardware wise, no pleasant surprise at all.

Biggest not so great surprise was the LACK of any Virtual Console news.

That HD Rumble is, apparently, as legit as it sounds.

At first it's the sort of idea where you scratch your head and say "it's just fancy rumble." But hands-on reports say it's sophisticated enough to simulate different road surfaces in Mario Kart and 6-7 individual marbles in 1,2 Switch.

Which makes my mind race. Imagine being in an RPG and feeling the twang of your bowstring as you shoot an arrow, the feeling of your sword sliding out of its sheath, and the clang of your sword against armor. Imagine a shooter where each weapon has a very distinct feeling, popping magazines into rifles, grenade explosions, the difference between a pistol shot, unloading a magazine, or blasting a tank round. Someone else mentioned feeling different waves in a new Wave Race.

I find this really interesting and I want to see how far the tech can go.

Even though it isnt a huge thing I was pleasantly surprised to see its coming out at the start of March and not the ass end of the month.

Oh I also wasnt expecting Nintendo to ever put out a trailer that epic for anything ever. Dat Zelda trailer.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I don't think this'll arrive in 2017 (at least in the west), but the fact that it was actually announced and they're targeting a release this year was a pleasant surprise for me, as I was wholly expecting a port of Xenoblade Chronicles X to be shown.
