That's something that always gets me on a lot of threads here - there are some people here who are gamers, who then decide to judge and deride other gamers for the things they do. It's kind of weird to me, being that most people see gamers as some sort of "social outcasts" anyway (especially as we get older). Why do they seem to feel a need to judge others in our community?

Anyway, to everyone who is saying he isn't passionate, take a look at the kid's channel (OMG he might make a few cents if you do though!) - he started it 5 years ago when he was a little kid, and he obviously wasn't thinking about making money then - he just loves Nintendo. Sure, this is him trying to take his channel to new heights for profit, but he is still a Nintendo fan. And what's wrong with him trying this? I really don't understand all the hate and criticism.

Absolutely! You nailed it right here.

I wouldn't do this myself, and when I first saw it I didn't know what to think, but now, I think it's awesome.

We are a group that yeah, for the most part "normal" society doesn't understand. He seems like a nice enough kid who just loves something and what he is doing is having a generally positive impact on the people he meets and the people around him. Sure he over-hypes stuff and is a bit showy, but that's a YouTube personality.

This obviously doubles as a (very smart) way to make his channel grow and help him make a living from something he is passionate about. I would never throw salt at somebody trying to do that. More power to ya CND.

If you're one of the people who are calling him out and generally being an arse over his choice (which doesn't cause you any harm, would you bloody believe?!) then you're part of the problem. It's okay to have an opinion if this isn't for you, but to be rude or look down on him for it is a bit far IMO.

I think we can all understand, at least at some level, both his hype, and what it's like to be looked down upon for a completely harmless hobby. Be happy for each other, be nice to each other, you'll be damn surprised how your life changes for the better.

Well, he's up 20,000 subs, decent, but still probably not what he was hoping for, but he's building to a decent sub base. (not like, an underwater base..)

This would've been a lot more impressive if he were actually camping out at the store for the entire time and just livestreaming it, because then you have to take into account the problems, general overhead, and potential legality of subsisting somehow for a month outside of a store.

Like, he's not "in line" (unless he's being given dibs by Nintendo for basically being free advertising); he's just vlogging at a Nintendo store every day until the Switch comes out.... Kay.

He's legally not allowed to stay outside the store until Nintendo creates the lineup themselves and he has said he will once that happens.

I have to say this kid is pretty entertaining. I like his enthusiasm..

Theeeeennnnn.... he's not in line for a Switch. He's just going to the store everyday to vlog and thus act as free advertising. He'll be in line when Nintendo creates the line-up, which isn't as impressive.

Attending a private media event where Koizumi and Takahashi attended and play the Switch while taking pics and stuff. This kid is living the dream! Triforce didn't looked that hyped at the party, or maybe he is one of those people that doesn't show his excitement in an explicit way such as CND.

I just really appreciate everything you're doing to keep this thread on the front page.

Lol, this.

First post should really be updated saying that CDN and Trifoce cannot stay outside 24/7 because of rockefeller security and can only stay outside when the store is open.

They have a place they're staying at and go into town every morning to "Queue" since no official line exists yet they cannot stand in one. Once Nintendo announces a real line they will be outside the store 24/7 which usually happens days before launch.

And for my opinion I've followed triforce for awhile doing these launches and with how the internet is nowadays I worry about someone scooping his spot just to "Troll".

Damn people are salty. I am not even intrested in the Switch and i am watching it. He seems like a pretty cool guy and the video's are fun to watch. Alot of people come by and its quite cool to see the "adventure"

How is this sad? He's obviously enjoying himself, making money off of this and meeting tons of new people. Smh.

People enjoy and make money off of all kinds of shit, especially on youtube, doesn't mean I can't judge them.

It's just a fucking console, with a not so great launch lineup. This "first" thing has always been stupid, and the more people lean into it the stupider it is.

I have really been enjoying this series. He's a down to earth kid, and he seems pretty sincere. As far as him doing this, I commend him. When I was 18. I took a year off before going to college to just have fun and enjoy life a bit as well. It much easier to do when you're at home and have MUCH LESS social responsibility (and a family (parents) that supports it). Everyone in my family blasted me for it, my mom supported me, maybe not 100% but she let me do my thing. I didn't do something as epic as this, but I had a lot of fun, and it gave me perspective on life.

Life is made up of experiences. Some you only get 1 chance at doing, so don't let too many pass you by. How silly it is to others is really irrelevant, especially if it's something you're passionate about. Live your life for you (unless you have children and even still to an extent), It'll be much more fun that way.

Who knew this thread would cause GAF to ponder the meaning of living a good life. It's a good discussion! I support this kid doing what he wants to do, even though it isn't what I would do myself.

Anyway, super fun video. I wish I was him, lol. A month of pure fun, earning popularity for his youtube channel hence earning money, and meeting new people. It's wonderful, really. He has been super smart about this. Good om him for finding a way to live doing what he loves.

To be honest, if you manage to generate salt, you are probably doing things right :)

Enjoyed the latest episode, it's cool that the new community of friends he has made were totally down to hold his spot while he was at the Switch event.

New York seems awesome... I need to go one day.

If you are judging him because he's only doing this to claim "first for a console with a subpar launch" then you have less business acumen than a "19 year old college drop out".

If you are judging him for catering to a market that's hyped for a system launch and enjoys watching and clicking daily to see his updates... stop hating on us Nintendo fans!

That's one thing I noticed about him in these videos. He doesn't seem that excited to be there, ESPECIALLY at that private event.

Hell, he didn't even freak out at the fact that he got a Majora's Mask 3DS. :o

I'm really enjoying this guy's videos. It's making the wait for launch a lot better. Seeing the Switch event was a lot of fun. Hope he can keep it up until the end.

Fight the good fight, man! Stick it to the man! You sure showed him!

Triforce has always been a massive Nintendo fan, but he's also 40 years old. Every time I see him on camera, I feel like he's not all there, like his mind is somewhere else.

I really think he's taking a leap of faith with this YouTube stuff.

So much this. The guy seems like a good kid with a very outgoing personality and a natural talent in front of the camera. The comments of "he's cheating" and "why's he wasting his life" etc are so pointless considering this adventure is mainly to grow his channel and get him exposure on Youtube. Good luck to him and his future career of making hundreds of thousands of dollars by playing and talking about video games.

I don't see anything special about him but it's fun and good for him.
