It has been over a year since I played this card game. What's the current meta game like? I I heard that the Inzektors are extremely OP, but then there were many decks I knew that are guaranteed to win cough* Six Samurai *cough.

Tinking about things a little bit more, the Next format's going to be crazy. There are even more field wipes kicking around, but plenty of S/T to bring stuff back from the dead. Decks that can protect a large backrow (like Six Samurai) are going to have a really fun time. If you weren't using 3 MST before, you definitely will now.
I'm expecting more use of Gorz and Starlight Road with Torrential Tribute at 2.
I'm gonna hate six samurai more. I didn't think it was possible.
Because I don't have that deckWhy do you hate fun?
Because I don't have that deck![]()
Gorz is omnipresent regardless. Starlight Road is still a dicey play with MST at three. It's a lot easier and more reliable to run Samurai who can quickly summon Shi En and Naturia Beast/Barkion for long-term backrow negation and protection.
Synchros are pretty much standard in most of the top decks...well, they used to be at least. Now it's a Xyz centric format but with the biggest most broken synchro being banned and the most common way to get it out being banned, Synchros have been hit hard. So, as someone who hasn't played the game in forever, I'm kind of curious... how prevalent are Synchros in most decks? They were introduced well after I've stopped playing, so I've always been kind of curious as to how well they worked, especially considering how much fusions used to suck.
I mostly just hate being locked out by the easy as hell to summon shien. It really sucks how dependent my dark world deck us on magic cards.I really don't think Six Samurai are that powerful. 2500 is extremely easy for most popular decks to get over, and they still struggle against monster effects. They were never dominant, just very popular.
Most side the third MST and not everybody runs Six Sams. Others with heavy backrow won't hesitate to run Starlight Road now if Torrential Tribute starts to pickup.
Six Sams were also dominant when Gateway was at 3.
I am so out of the game right now. I didn't even know they changed "remove from play" to "banish". I feel so old... I bought World Championship 2010 to get some dueling back in my life, but me and my friend (who also has it) don't have that many decks built. And there are already too many NPC decks to keep track of as it is.
What would be nice is if they made a Yu-Gi-Oh game for the Vita, with some fresh advanced controls and sweet graphics. I'm guessing it won't happen because Nintendo has a deal with Konami for making the games?
That's definitely not the case since the PSP had it own annual release series alongside the WC games. Konami hasn't announced a game for the 3DS either so it seems like they're waiting to see how things develop for both platforms.
How good were the PSP games? I never played them, but it always seemed like the DS ones were the "official" Yu-Gi-Oh games; I imagine it would be easy enough for them to slap a World Championship onto the 3DS to try to keep it up. I just want a more user-friendly interface, and a better view of the field. It would be so good to play on the beautiful Vita display, as opposed to the tiny 3DS screen. Would jaggy 3D CG monsters add anything? Hell no. If monsters are going to be animated, I want them near HD levels.(I'd rather have none. I use an Action Replay to turn off all animations)
But enough about that, let's converse on the subject of the card game. ...How about those Xyz monsters? Crazy, huh?

Well this is a coincidence. Me and my roommate have brought our old cards up and gonna play against each other. Though the last new cards I got were the vampire cards and some of the movie cards so its been around 7 years. I was thinking of getting one or two of the newer decks to check out these new synchro cards and what not. Which newer decks should I pick up?
It depends on what kind of playstyle you prefer. Do you want to summon a bunch of monsters in one turn and steamroll your opponent, or would you rather take a slower more measured approach?
Are any of the DS games particularly good with tutorials and whatnot? Considering picking up one along with my roommate who never played the game since the 3DS game doesn't seem like it'll pop up anytime soon...
I like Trishula getting banned and Reborn Tengu getting hurt was glorious, also Call going to unlimited and Monster Reborn not getting hit are nice but Wind Ups and Inzektors not getting hit at all is bad. I don't care if OCG doesn't notice them, that shouldn't matter for TCG.
The newest DS game is nice for getting used to how synchros and newer cards play, but it won't show much advanced play.
And it's a year behind at this point. Xyz cards and lot of other stuff that's shown up over the past year will be missing.
Also, what's so bad about Inzektorz? I haven't played against any.
What makes you think Yugioh will be good on Vita? Konami stealth? announced WC 2012 for the 3DS.
Lots of exciting stuff is coming out in the next few months for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME!
In fact, there’s so much coming out that I wanted to run down the list, including a few new things you might not know about yet. Get ready for some surprises!
First off, this month we just released Order of Chaos Special Edition, which comes with 3 packs of ORCS plus either The Winged Dragon of Ra or Effect Veiler. And next week, on March 20, the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Premium Collection hits shelves. This mini-tin featuring Yugi, Jaden, Yusei, and Yuma comes with Elemental HERO The Shining and Number 34: Terror-Byte, plus 4 more Secret Rares and 8 Super Rares from a new 23-card set that includes monsters from all 4 Yu-Gi-Oh! TV series.
On April 17, you can pick up Starter Deck: Xyz Symphony. Starter Decks are designed to help new players to get in the game. This 45-card Deck is the second to feature the black-framed Xyz Monsters, and comes with 4 new Xyz Monsters you haven’t seen before!
The next booster set is Galactic Overlord, releasing on May 8. This new set introduces the Hieratic Sun Dragons of Heliopolis, a brand new deck archetype! Plus tons of new cards that can go in any deck.
Then on May 29, Battle Pack: Epic Dawn launches. We’ve talked a lot about the Battle Pack, and will keep talking about it, because it’s a brand new concept for most Duelists. In a few days I’ll be talking more about the new Starfoil Cards in the Battle Pack, plus news about how you can get special Starfoil versions of other popular cards by playing in Sealed Pack tournaments at your local store.
On the same day, you can also pick up the new Kaiba & Obelisk the Tormentor Card Sleeves. These are the next in a series that began with the Yugi & Slifer Card Sleeves we came out with last year. If you have multiple decks, putting one deck in Yugi sleeves and another in Kaiba sleeves is a sure way to make sure they never get mixed up!
NEW: Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Gold Series: Haunted Mine
Summer is the best time to soak up some golden sunshine, so that’s when we always release our annual Gold Series boxes. And this year, we’re adding another twist!
Both ghosts and gold await you in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Gold Series: Haunted Mine, the first time ever to see the new Ghost/Gold Rare hybrid cards – with the luster of a gold rare and the 3D holographic illustration of a Ghost Rare!
There will be 6 Ghost/Gold Rares to collect. And since these are so cool, we selected 6 different kinds of cards, so we could print on as many card frame colors as possible, to see how they looked. You can get Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Gorz the Emissary of Darkness, Herald of Perfection, Naturia Barkion, Mystical Space Typhoon, and Solemn Judgment. (Yes, this will be the first time ever that we’ve released Spell and Trap Cards with 3D holographic Ghost Rare artwork!)
You can also get new ‘standard’ (if there is such a thing) Gold Rare versions of cards like Fabled Grimro, Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier, Starlight Road, Formula Synchron, and Karakuri Steel Shogun mdl 00X “Bureido”.
All this treasure comes with a catch, though – this particular gold mine is haunted! When gold and ghosts come together, mayhem is sure to follow. A horde of Zombies, and some of the deadliest Trap Monsters ever created, are protecting the fantastic treasure hidden in the mine! So we’ve enlisted the best thieves in the business to help crack it open: Don Zaloog and his Dark Scorpions!
Each box comes with 1 Ghost/Gold Rare, plus 2 ‘standard’ Gold Rares and 22 Common Cards. Total set size: 55 cards. (Normally, Gold Series sets are 50 cards, but Don Zaloog insisted on bringing his entire team.…
Available on June 12!
NEW: Tournament-Themed Structure Deck
And finally, on June 26 we’re coming out with another new idea – a whole new take on Structure Decks!
Most of our Structure Decks introduce a new theme, or put a twist on an old theme, but this Structure Deck is designed to give you a jumping off point to play one of the most popular tournament Decks of the past year: The Six Samurai!
The Samurai Warlords Structure Deck comes with 41 cards, including a brand new Six Samurai Xyz Monster! And it’s packed with some of the hottest Six Samurai cards ever released, from Great Shogun Shien and Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan to Six Samurai United and Musakani Magatama.
And of course it comes with great cards that work in ANY deck, like Dark Hole and Fiendish Chain.
If you’re a casual player who hasn’t jumped on the tournament wagon yet, Samurai Warlords will give you a great place to start.
That’s a quick look at the next 3 months. We’ll have lots of excitement in store as we head into the summer championship season. Stay tuned for more information!
Coming Soon to the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG
Ahhhhhh! I'm so excited about the new Six Samurai XYZ monster! I really hope it either has a high attack or an effect to negate monster's effects.
Some bad news. The new DT, due in July, is a reprint set. DT's have been falling in popularity in Japan and it's possible that we'll never see any new ones again.
Weve added a new rules section to the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME web site!
The Advanced Rules Information section is accessible by clicking GAMEPLAY on the left-hand side, or from the GAMEPLAY drop-down menu.
Our first two items are already posted there, and over coming weeks and months we will be adding more information to help clear up some of the questions you might have about how the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG works.
Fast Effect Timing is a detailed guide to show you which player has the next opportunity to activate a fast effect (meaning a Quick-Play Spell, Quick Effect, Trap Card, or Trap Card effect). This can get a little tricky sometimes, but how this is handled can have a big impact on the outcome of your Duels. So please study it carefully! In addition to clearing up a lot of questions, the Fast Effect timing guide & chart will change how you play the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME. These rules take effect immediately.
Weve also added downloadable, printable versions of both the explanation and the accompanying flow chart.
Card FAQ: Rivalry of Warlords & Gozen Match explains in detail how these two very similar cards work in every situation. If you play with these cards, or see them used a lot by your opponents, you should definitely check this out.
.
Our long-term plan is to have 4 Pillars supporting the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCGs rules framework. One Pillar is done, two are in progress, and the fourth is coming in the future:
* Pillar #1 is the card text itself. The new problem-solving card text is designed so that most questions about your cards can be answered right away, just by reading the card text. This pillar is complete. As more of our older cards get reprinted with the new card text, questions about how your specific cards work will gradually dry up.
* Pillar #2 will be a series of in-depth guides about the rules, mechanics, and overall game engine. The Fast Effect Timing explanation is the first of these. Next up, were looking at publishing a consolidated guide on how to read problem-solving card text. Other topics were looking at include a detailed explanation of the Battle Phase, a deeper analysis of how negation works, and other topics.
* Pillar #3 will be a few more specific card FAQs on some of the most unusual cards in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG. If you look at all the questions that ever come up about cards, 90% of them are about the same cards, like Skill Drain and Royal Oppression. Our goal is to explain these cards in great detail, so that you wont have any questions about how they work. There probably wont be a lot of cards in this section maybe a half-dozen or so in the next year.
* Pillar #4 would be a revision of the rulebook so that it explains things in more detail. This is still off in the future, since we want to see what is causing confusion for players before we tackle such a project.
.
Our overall goal is for a cleaner, simpler game that removes the confusion that some players feel.
That way, you can focus on your play. Not on how to play.
When's the next [up to date] vidja game coming out?
