Zack Snyder Promises Epic "Seven Samurai" - inspired Justice League (2017)

This will upset me the most.
Superman and Batman can be ruined because they have been ruined before, but Justice League has always been solid. I fear what Synder will do to the characters.

I feel bad for DC. An their properties as they're stuck with the incompetence at WB and it's partners for the foreseeable future. Although i have no idea what they pull in or if they could sustain a in house studio like Marvel and build a better image down the line (Needs to be heavily considered). Most likely a full on reboot, many years from now because if this turns in a unthinkable shit show of epic magnitudes.

Then they're looking at very, very pissed off fan base and turned off movie goers.

At that point DC and WB would be known not just for mediocre or bad comic book movies but bad movies in general. With bad directional judgment choices to boot. But who i'm kidding? BvS will make a crap ton of money on hype alone, still they won't understand the problems with their film output, until it's to late.

Thus their incompetence.

I don't have a problem if they take inspiration from a Seven a Samurai, but I would be a lot more comfortable if these words came from Affleck and he takes over. From Snyder it just sound grandiose and self important. I'm not sure how Affleck can take driection from that guy.

There's going to be an awesome Justice League movie next year....

But not yours, Snyder.

"I hope you liked Batman as a serial killer cuz that's all I know how to do!"

Yeah, I hate how Snyder's Batman killed all those ninjas by burning down Ras' house in Batman Begins.

Oh wait. That was Nolan. Shit. I can never remember which we're supposed to pick apart.

Actors don't make movies for critical acclaim. The entirety of Hollywood felicitating each other for 4 hours about their greatest at the Oscars must be an illusion.

Have some self respect and instead of lying about how you made this movie for the fans, admit you did for that dumptruck full of money they gave you. Nobody blames you; they blame Snyder.

gaf is being quite hysteric in the last few days, and erratically snob over a piss poor genre. He doesn't promise an epic seven samurai. That film has a very recognizable iconicity of getting a group together. That seems to be it.

100 percent this.

people couldn't even read the god damn quote before they went off.

I bet Affleck currently has a dozen-strong team of lawyers madly going through his contract trying to get out of this while horriffic endeavor by any loophole possible.

If the WB morans had any brains, they would fire Snyder. But then again, they allowed something like BVS to exist. They allowed that thing to be released to theaters.

The real issue is simple.

Nolan made good to great films featuring deaths likely caused by Batman while this far Snyder has made one mediocre film with deaths caused by Superman and one bad film with deaths caused by Supermanand Batman.

Who cares if he's kills or not? He's a fictional character represented in many ways over the years.

My issue his films are bad and it still sounds like WB will back him to make more bad films based on DC characters.

Oh well silver lining I guess: saves me a bunch of IMAX tickets when I skip 'em.

I'm not saying the movie is good or bad. I'm watching it later this evening.

HOWEVER, the double standard is pretty ridiculous and the criticisms people are willing to use against both this movie and MoS are disingenuous and only brought out because people were looking for things to pick apart before the movie was even released.

Cavill ain't wrong, as much as it pains some people to believe it.

Not familiar with seven samurai, I know Terrio said he views MoS, BvS and JL as a trilogy, with BvS being the darkest point.
The minute you're suggesting that the critics don't matter and saying stuff like it's "just for fans", that's when you know you're defending a bad movie. He wouldn't be saying anything close to that if reviewers loved the movie.

Ignoring trolls (because what else are you gonna do) most people when disappointed see flaws magnified.

Sure the whole "he kills" and do on has been overstated but I get gurnuine feeling mostly it's from people who wanted a good film, got a bad one, and as often happens found the fact it's bad magnifies all the flaws.

Most films cheat to an extent (not all mind you).

So when you watch Begins for example the way it unfolds you take the destruction of the building with the league in context and later you take Bruce deciding not to kill (and not to save) in context to because it feels right.

In BvS the context doesn't work because of the fucked up pacing and structure, so it doesn't really feel "right" when he kills.

Ultimately the serious flaws in the film male it harder to ignore content that is otherwise accepted in other films.

Hope you like it anyway if it's your bag but ultimately Snyder has, ironically, ended up making a film that I feel majority will dislike as its discordant in terms of context justifying content vs better comic book films and as a result has caused a frenzy of complaints.

Considering that you post about how shit whatever Marvel film is, regardless of thread relevance, several times per week, I don't "gaf" is the one that needs to keep a tighter lid on film snobbery.

Bruce [Wayne] is having to go out and sort of ‘Seven Samurai’ the Justice League together, which is fun

"which is fun"... so is Snyder involved or not? Because that statement is sending mixed signals.

=P

The dark tone in Nolan's films works because it's just Batman facing off against some relatively grounded villains. TDK is more like a chrime thriller than a superhero movie.

If they're going forward with Snyder and the tone of MoS and BvS, introducing characters like Aquaman and Flash... It's an unmitigated disaster.

Agreed. i just don't see it working at all and TBH I consider BvS advance proof of that.

I'm surprised WB want Snyder anywhere near the JL movie after the reviews of BvS, seems they really don't care about quality and just want to cash in at the expense of fans.

It will for sure be 3 and half hours long tho

So just like the original then.

Wasn't there a rumor of him being in talks to film a Seven Samurai inspired Star Wars spin-off a few years ago? I guess he wants to repurpose some of the ideas he had for that in Justice League.

Edit: I see it has already been brought up.

Then he's doing a solo Superman based on The Godfather, with Superman as Michael. His parents actually survived the destruction of Krypton and Jor-El is in the Vito role.
Hey, it's based on acclaimed source material... what could go wrong?

EDIT: I swear I didn't see that Godfather mention before I posted this.
