Zelda 3DS: It's Majora's Mask vs. Link to the Past

I'd love a portable Majora with updated graphics. Hell yes. The last two portable Zeldas haven't been all that great. Do this.

MM could use a remake more than LttP. Because LttP is more or less perfect the way it is, they can't really improve it (at least in any way that would still be "Zelda"), and I wouldn't be the least bit interested if they moved to 3D.

If it's going to be using the OoT remake engine/style, then Majora Mask should get the remake.

aLttP deserves better than that.

Exactly my thought. LttP is probably one of my greatest games ever, as well as my favorite Zelda game. They need to treat it like it's one of them $5000 hookers

I.... I would play a completely remade Link to the Past. Crazy looking 3D world, I bet it would look spectacular.
I'd actually rather have it redrawn in 2D with painted landsapes.

Polygons would be the cheap/lazy way out for a game like Link to the Past. It deserves better.

Contract another studio to port Majora, work on new Zelda and LTTP 3D remake. Win, win, win scenario.

Except when the internet starts spewing its usual "OMG NINTENDO MAEK NOO GAMES REMAKES PORTS BAD BAD OOOGAH" shit. Which will happen anyway, I guess.

Majora's Mask

A Link to the Past

In that order. Do both.

The way the previous DS entries for new Zelda's went, I do not want new.

Pick up and play Majora's would be ideal for me, since I have not played it.

It's time for a side story or something. How about a Legend of Zelda game where Zelda/Sheik is the protagonist and has to save Link?

We got to play as Donkey Kong. We even got to be Princess Peach. Now is the time to let us be Princess Zelda and/or Sheik!

No offense to Shiggy, but LTTP remake would be ugly in 3D. The 3DS hardware isn't powerful enough, I sense that there would be sacrifises to the game's overworld going to 3D.

Who's saying it would have to be in 3D? Beautiful 2D visuals spruced up with the 3D trickery is actually quite attractive. Mighty Switch Force remains one of the best examples of 3D on the system for this reason.

Oh, no doubt. I'd rather have a 2D remake that looks like Orioto's LTTP artwork to be honest with you.

lol, I don't think an ALttP remake that looks like OoT is what is talked about here. Miyamoto occasionally talks about how the different layers of ALttP would make for a good 3D effect, so such a game would certainly keep that birdy eye view.

I absolutely loved the Ocarina 3D update, and would enjoy a Majoras Mask done in a similar way.

Link to the Past done in 3D, but retaining the top down (or even Diablo like isometric?) would suit the handheld as well.

How about MM first? Then LttP later?

I'd still take wind waker over either of those remakes though.

So would we still be getting an original Zelda 3DS game? Seems like overkill with OOT remake already, then either MM or LTTP remake, and then another original game.

I would vote Majora's Mask only because it is the only Zelda I have not played. Link to the Past is a better game though. Arguably the best Zelda.

I'm torn on this question. LTTP is one of my favorite games of all time, but I have never played Majora's Mask. Both would be nice to have.

Yeah, I'm not sure where everyone's jumping to the conclusion this would be a remake over a 3D Classics version of the game, where things pop out of from the top-down perspective.

Making ALttP in 3D a la OoT would completely destroy most of the puzzle and dungeon design. The overworld would have to be redesigned. The game might as well be completely new by that point.

I believe MM sold the fewest of all the console Zelda games. It potentially has the most to gain if it were remade. LTTP is, amazing but it already has a handheld port. I'd like to see a LTTP style (top down) game for the Wii U instead.

Just have Grezzo make it for the 3DS and call it a day. The did a great job with OoT.

Plus, people saying MM is bad are bat shit crazy. MM was a brilliant and necessary departure for the series. I've always loved it. I'm not part of the new found bandwagon and hype train. Been on since October 2000.

Do a remake of Majora's Mask on 3DS.

Make a whole new LTTP style Zelda on the Wii U. Please Nintendo, just do this. Make a wonderfully artistic looking 2-D overview style Zelda on my console. That's all I want. It probably wouldn't even cost as much. Just do it damn it!!!

It'd be both familiar and completely new at the same time which is why I'm down with the idea. The scope of the world in 2d would FORCE them to show some ambition and ingenuity in the transition to 3d. The game's simple story and dénouement is still the best in series IMO.

A Link to the Past remake would be Nintendo's equivalent of a Final Fantasy VII remake. It would be irresistible.

YES!

Speaking of Grezzo, are they working on anything? Grezzo would do a splendid job on a MM remake, unless Nintendo decides to remake it on Wii U. :P

LttP Remake on 3DS.
Majora's Mask Remake on WiiU (in the style of that fan trailer that came up shortly before E3 week).

Make it so, Nintendo. Please.

I would take a Majora's Mask remake over any new Zelda you're currently developing on WiiU. Seriously.

I don't feel it's comparable to FFVII at all.

ALttP is still a good game, filled with timeless art and well-realized 2D mechanics that don't translate 1:1 with 3D. FFVII, as an early 3D game, is dated in its mechanics/graphics and more suited to a 3D remake. Changing it from 2D to free-range 3D would change everything about the game. You're changing the perspective, your changing the puzzles (because you won't be able to see everything at once like in the 2D games), the world structure would not work the same... Nintendo would never put those kinds of resources into a handheld Zelda. Nor would I want them to.

The only thing "familiar" about it would be the structure: 3 dungeons, twist, 8 dungeons, final boss. You're basically asking for another OoT.

ALTTP remake is something I don't want, as others have said the game is fine as it is. A sequel to ALTTP (basically new 2D Zelda) sounds interesting, but regardless I would still prefer a remake of Majora's Mask. (2nd favorite Zelda game)

You're basically asking for another OoT.

Every time someone intimates that OOT is basically LTTP in 3d, an innocent infant lifeform somewhere on this planet probably dies of an aneurysm.

The challenge presented by bringing that very large tile based world into 3d is exactly why it would be a million times better. If they have to rework level designs and puzzles it doesn't matter, replaying the exact same game would be boring as shit anyway for veterans who've played the game hundreds of times. Using LTTP as a base for a reimagining would be spectacular. Tomb Raider Legend isn't just Tomb Raider 1. Gone are the tilesets which were used to time jumps, a lot of puzzles are completely different, the locales the same but sculpted in a new way... Doing the same thing by putting the LTTP scenario in the OOT or WW engine would be way more exciting than a cleaned up Majora's Mask.

I'm personally not that interested in a 3d classic of LTTP. If they're going to revisit it, they should do it properly or not at all.

i think a lttp remake using wind waker's engine would be perfect and look great on the 3ds. cel shading for the win. hell use the same engine to remake la and the oracle games too while they're at it.

What is there to remake in LttP? The most I'd want is the 3D Classics treatment or just redrawn HD sprites, either way it's a downloadable title. The real next Zelda should release alongside the Majora's Mask remake.

I've been itching to replay MM, but with a possible 3DS version in the near future, I don't wanna start playing it on the N64. Damnit Nintendo hurry up!

Why can't we just have both of them? Incredible experiences both, different ones too.

But if I had to choose just one I choose
Wind Waker
