Zelda BOTW Patch 1.11 released

Glad Nintendo made strides on the performance of this game which was my biggest (albeit still minor) gripe. Unfortunately I already finished the game and found all the shrines, but am excited to watch my wife play through the game with the new patch.

I can confirm that Hitano Village on WiiU has improved significantly in framerate. Its not perfect with it occasionally dropping when you look at some of the houses, but its smooth when your just walking down the main road through town.

Can anyone on wiiu that hasn't updated yet record load times before and after? I swear it's faster (dd version) now.

After this update had my first crash ever since launch on Hateno Village. Had to do a hard reset, haven't had to do another yet though. On Switch.

Have yet to check out a forest since the update, but I haven't really noticed any of the usual moments of slowdown. Either I'm too used to them, or the game really is cleaned up a bit.

This part used to drop a lot too:

Now it's 100% stable, thank god.
that part is still a bit laggy to me

Loading times when using Travel seem faster to me, but that's just my opinion. I also think when you use the Skip option on shrines that it transitions much faster now. Would be great if some of the early testers would do some updated videos comparing it now.

I know right!
I don't even know why they released this game on the wiiu in the first place.
At least the emulator will fix this disaster of a version and make it the best of all.
Because it's a WiiU game and they're preserving some goodwill.
And it happens to be absolutely nothing. There are
actual spoilers
within that forest, though, which aren't being detailed through the name. Nothing about the game is going to be ruined for anyone by someone saying hey Korok Forest runs a bit smoother and again if you consider something like that a spoiler, you shouldn't be visiting any threads on a message board about the game in the first place.

Nobody is at fault here for naming that forest. If you're that touchy, it's on you. Look, I fully believe in not blurting out spoilers publicly, but this is not a spoiler. And as has already been discussed prior, this isn't really the thread for this discussion. However, someone mentioned it'd be ridiculous if we have to spoiler tag every single little thing while talking about performance issues (which nobody on that severe a blackout should be looking at anyway but I digress) and I find that to be true.
And nobody is at fault for hiding that name. Spoilers are a courtesy thing and different folks have different strokes. The only ones at fault are the guys treating it black and white, deciding for everyone what's supposed to be a spoiler.

Disaster? The game is fine on the Wii U and run really well in most areas.

There are problems in some specifc spots but they are not that bad and never hindered my experience.

I'm very interested to see Digital Foundry look into this update, it sounds like Nintendo is making nice strides to improve the game and it's almost where it needs to be.

Just compared Wii U version, also a solid improvement to kakariko. It's now 30 when not moving the camera! Still drops but it was locked 20 before!

People are posting a lot of fake spoilers in this thread, like that picture, which is photoshopped. Almost all of the real spoilers I've seen have been spoiler tagged, most of the stuff not tagged that sounds like a spoiler is fake. EDIT: Some of them like the alien invasion are from Nintendo's GDC panel where they described some prototype ideas, though I don't remember seeing the above image there, which is why I think it's photoshopped. I could be wrong though. Either way it's not in the final game.

Anyway, it's great that they fixed some of the framerate issues less than a month out from release. That bodes well for continuing support over the year.

Is pop-in worse on the Switch now? Pop-in is something that really irks me. I'd honestly rather deal with the frame rate issues the game has (which I think are bearable) then have more pronounced pop-in...

At 125 and all Shrines, I only got 122.
They're not so obvious.

Not trying to sound like a dick here, but they really are. I didn't even try to look for them and found enough to max out my extra slots. There's really only about 4 or 5 different variations of where they hide. It gets quite repetitive once you notice the patterns.

I've literally tripped over half of the ones I found.

I have not noticed any difference in pop in or graphical effects. Even if there were, the improvement in frame rate is far far more significant and noticeable.

There is an obnoxious animation that plays of link picking up his tablet and looking at it when you tap the map button
in 12s of hours of the wii u version i never noticed it because it skips it to save frames and keep up with the performance of the switch version

i played my switch copy when it got here finally for five minutes and it was bothering me incessantly

wii u version superior B)

A dumb question probably, but I assume version 1.11 is the same as version 1.1.1? Because it says it has downloaded the updated, and the main screen does indeed say 1.1.1, but I'm not noticing any performance improvements in both K
akariko
and H
ateno
Village, and definitely not in K
orok
Forest. It feels the same as before the update in all of the three villages.

I'm on Wii U, by the way.

There's a couple more variations than that.

A rock in a conspicuous place.
Swirly leaves.
Complete a pattern of stones
Match the structures with a magnetic cube
Pinwheel archery challenge
Stand on stump, go through a ring
Hop a fence or series of fences with a horse
Shoot a conspicuous pot with an arrow
Offer apples to goddess statues
Shoot fruit out of trees that doesn't belong (i.e. Palm fruit in an apple tree)

Am I missing any?

I'm pretty sure the title of this thread is a typo, and it's just 1.1.1

Roll a boulder through 2 trees that look like a "goal"

There's one in your list that I never knew of too. And I have close to 300 now haha

1.1.1 in the main menu is the most recent version. I dunno how you dont notice any improvements in
Kakariko
though. It ran so fucking bad before. I could immediately tell with the path that it was better. Like significantly so. It's not perfect but before it was atrocious and now its serviceble.

offering apples to the small statues
. i have seen hundreds of them :(

Melt the ice
Magnetic ball in tree trunk.
Throw rock into stone circle in a bidy of water
Dive into a lily pad circle

There are way more variations on the Korok seeds than people give credit for.

Am I missing any?

Dive through a ring of flowers on the waters surface
Throw a rock into the center of a rock formation, also in water.
Use magnesis to place chained metal balls in tree stumps
Flower mini games (follow the white flower, touch yellow flowers in a specific order.)

burning leaves in corners where leaf piles shouldn't be (probably could use the Deku leaf to blow them away too

I personally like the ones where you chase the tip of their flower leaf from place to place. Not sure how to categorize those.

I can't believe I never noticed the odd fruit one!

So yeah more than 4 or 5 but you further proved my point lol. You almost have to not be paying attention. But then again I've been playing Zelda for 30 years so many of them stick out like a sore thumb.

Glad to hear about improvements on the wii u version too.

But holy shit Nintendo, write some damn patch notes.

Roll a boulder into a pit/pond/lava
Put a metal rock into a hollow tree stump

Edit: These were already covered above.

Basically any time something looks out of place or there's the makings of a pattern, you're probably looking at a korok puzzle. I'm approx. 90 hours in and I have found 200ish seeds without ever explicitly going hunting for them.
