Zelda BOTW Patch 1.11 released

I genuinely hope I am imagining it i explored a new area yesterdsy so that could be it too.

Generally "red rocks" are one of the muddier looking things in the game. This has been the case for as long as I've been playing and that screenshot posted a little while ago looks pretty consistent with what I remember.

well, i killed one and it was an instant freeze, but it only lasted like half a second, whereas before it could freeze for like 2 or 3 seconds

but these are always kinda random anyway

That's unfortunate, but hopefully it's an improvement for real. Thanks for the info either way!

Sorry if it was mentioned before but this thread has gotten long. Was there anything other than performance enhancements in this patch? Other bug fixes, or gameplay tweaks, or anything like that?

I haven't tested but I'd expect the blood mon bug to fixed on Switch.

So much of an improvement. I was too embarrassed to show Zelda off to friends in docked mode because of all the slowdowns and have been playing in handheld mode 90% of the time. After patching last night, I had a 3-hour session in docked mode with my Pro Controller and it's like night and day. Huge thanks to Nintendo for improving an already tremendous game.

Really? Its very obvious where it is tho -_-

Maybe people gets confusde because it's in a different location than in previous Zelda games?

I have no idea if you're being sarcastic or not.

I never played much 3D Zelda games so I genuinely have no idea what the usual location is supposed to be.

I had one lag. So it still exists in some way.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully they can iron this out as well in a future patch.

Technically there's no consistent location for it, right? It was in one place in OOT, and another in WW, and hasn't been in any other 3D Zelda games...no? Well I suppose it sort of was in Skyward Sword, in the OOT location....

you mean
korok
forest right? it's north of hyrule castle, west of death mountain. it's a round forest area surrounded by water.

Thank you.

I've been pulling my hair trying to find the damn place, I have 46 seeds accumulated since last time I had the chance to use them.

So are there improved framerates on the wii u version or is it basically the same?

Going by this thread, impressions are all over the place on Wii U. Some saying areas are much improved, others saying nothing feels changed. Some even saying they wish they never downloaded the patch as the resolution, shadows, effects, and whatnot are now noticeably scaled back to support a minor fps bump.

Haven't downloaded it myself yet, so not sure what to think.

I honestly don't care if Nintendo lowered the resolution of the textures and view distance as long as it improves the framerate, wich by the replies in here it seems that way wich is great!

Once you unlock the whole map it is in fact pretty obvious. Just look on your map for the biggest concentration of trees.

So it's somewhere in the
Great Hyrule Forest
, then?

I mean it was the next place I was going to go look but how is that supposed to be obvious? There are tons of forest areas everywhere. That could have been any of them.

Little kind of unremarkable forests scattered everywhere, sure, but nothing quite as importantly-named and visually set-apart as that one, I suppose. Plus if you look at it from any distance outside there's a single bafflingly large tree sticking out of the middle. So, well.

The entrance is at the end of one of the pathways visible on the map.

Isn't it
fully covered by fog
? It was whenever I looked at it.

They look like red rock mountains from a Georgia O'Keefe painting. I'm not sure if that was what the intention was, but that's how it ended up.

Edit: Nah I'm better than this. Anyway, nice to hear the framerate is improved across the board, especially since I'll treat the Switch as a portable and nothing else :)

I did a software update check and it said no update available however the games main menu says I am on 1.1.1, so does the switch auto update while it sleeps in the dock? that's nice.

I believe some NPCs hint at the location. But, it's entirely possible to not have those conversations with them, so it is totally understandable you wouldn't have run into them yet or talked to them about this. AFAIK it's an optional part of the game. The entrance you're looking for is
along a road
as mentioned above. Slightly more specifically, you will enter from
the southern road.
This won't take you directly to K
orok
F
orest
. You'll be passing through another section first. Also, there is a pretty cool area to check out north of this region. It is distinctive on the map, I believe the map denotes it as
Thyphlo Ruins.
Heading further north from there, the
Deplian Badlands
and the outer edge of the map to their east have some interesting things to check out as well.

Same here.

I cant believe you didnt spoiler this post :(

Just in case you didn't know, that poster was joking. :)

But now he knows that link doesn't die and ganon doesn't have a true master!

You joke but I'd appreciate it if you guys cut it out with the fake-spoiler stuff for that very reason. It can take away some of the suspense.

Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess plot details:
Impa dies in SS and Zant has a true master (Ganondorf) in TP.

Botw plot details:
I thought Zelda might be revealed as a spirit like the Champions of the other dungeons until her appearance in the ending.

I tested it docked and portable yesterday and there is a very noticeable improvement in a lot of the usual areas that I would have frame drops happen. Practically no drops at all in portable mode. If Nintendo downgraded anything visually, it must be very minor because I can't really tell.

Bullshit, it's not indicated (or at least not until you enter it I assume).

I believe it only mentions
Great (Hylian) Forest
, not a more specific name, if even that. The game puts in names on the map when you discover them, so that's might be why you can't see it while The Hermit does see it.

Which guy are you even talking about?

And there's nothing wrong with that of course, but people here act as though it was pretty clear, which is just shitty.

Talk to people in the stables, that's how I found it. Was actually really fun putting all the hearsay and rumours from travellers together to find the forest.

Which guy are you even talking about?

I believe
Hetsu
tells you that he's going to see "grandpa" and tells you to follow
Hylia River
north to get there. It's not hard to figure out from there, though if you haven't met
Hetsu
then I can understand the issue.

LOL I don't even know who Hetsu is, and I have been playing for 70 hours, yet it seems he is common knowledge around the Zelda threads! Pretty awesome that I can miss such apparently obvious things and still enjoy the hell out of the game.
