Zelda in November?

I'm a huge Zelda fan but my interest is 0. I'm sure when we get an actual solid release date and it becomes clear that we won't see any more delays then I'll be hyped again.

True, it really is hard to be hyped when the game's release is still somewhere out there in the void.

I mean, c'mon, FFXII has gone gold in Japan! Hurry up Zelda.

as much as launching zelda for revo on november would mean that the cube was somewhat failure, I think it would be awesome for revo and it would greatly boost the initial sales.

I'd even settle for a TP with same graphics + revo controls.

it's not the lack of definite release date imo. it's the lack of information last time we got new TP screenshots was when? august?

Bleh, really beginning to lose interest now. Development must have been pretty disaster laden if they couldnt get this out off the bat.

In the meantime, I'll just play SotC and Okami back to back and probably have a better experience!

weak trolling.

and Nintendo was always like this, they delayed big titles until it was perfect in their minds. it wasn't until the GC era that they started rushing with game development and look where that lead them with WW... 2 dungeons cut and the Triforce hunt added.

It took OoT over 3 years to develop, and even then Miyamoto wanted to add two more dungeons.

I kill you. I kill you in the face.

I'm curious. If Zelda was delayed another year, would many of you lose interest completely?

if you mean delayed to fall 2007 i would be furious but i'd still get it upon release.

certainly not me, it's not like Zelda is the only game I play besides I will always have interest in a Zelda game. I mean it's ZELDA how could you not have any interest? that's impossible at least for me.

I'd be disappointed, but it's not like there aren't other games to play until it was released. Nobody is going to lose all interest and swear off buying the game because of a delay - they'll just simply try to block it from their mind until it finally comes out.

The problem on the internet with video games is everyone wants to hype it up. If there is no hype being generated, people just aren't interested. Sometimes I think people have more fun hyping up a game on GAF than they do when they actually get it and play.

Okay. The reason I asked is simply that hearing some of the comments in this thread made me remember some people on another messageboard that stated they wouldn't buy Zelda if it took too long. Which I find fucking stupid. I mean, if you're interested in a game, one that you have fair confidance that it will be great, it shouldn't matter when they release it. I mean, it's cool to be angry if it takes too long, I'm not saying that. But really, if you lose interest in something just based on time, it would seem you weren't really interested in that game anyway.

My interest in most games is pretty much non-existant until just before the release. Zelda is no exception. So if Nintendo delayed Twilight Princess for the next 5 years I wouldn't care until just before they released it.

I'll still get Zelda when it comes out, but its going to be hard-pushed to WHOAMFG me coming out so late.

Also whats surprising about finding new IP games more interesting and fun than just another nintendo sequel? Yeah I'm sure there'll be twists in the tale, but its all going to be deja vu territory.

Its just how long this has taken throws out really large warning beams about hoping the Revolution to be decently supported. Nintendo has always got to rely on its own 1st party stuff to really wow since 3rd parties usually drop off halfway through, so it sort of pushes me off putting up the cash for a Revolution with Nintendo having compeltely failed to put out Mario 128 and this new Zelda in any kind of timely fashion.

Once E3 comes around you'll be wetting your pants all over again for this game, so stop all this I'm losing interest bullshit. Zelda owns your soul.

Once E3 comes around, Next-Gen will be in full-force. As much as I want Zelda, delaying it this long is absurd.

Matt IGN Mailbag just confirmed it will be delayed

"Matt responds: You've got a wait ahead of you. Twilight Princess isn't coming in the first half of 2006, as you might have already guessed. But worse, some people who pre-ordered the game have received e-mails informing them of a November 2006 ship date. Whether or not this will ultimately happen is still up in the air - it'd be highly suspect of Nintendo to release both the new Zelda and Revolution in the same month. Then again, if the game really uses the innovative new controller on Revolution - and it probably does - perhaps the Big N is positioning the game's release as a means to sell its new platform while still satisfying GameCube owners."

QFT

Nintendo is totally oblivious to their competition. They don't seem to understand that this enormous delay will hurt the game's sale potential. Sure it'll sell well, but it's not going to be the huge numbers we would have seen if the game came out Nov 2005 (as originally planned).

Not surprising, but sucks nonetheless.

Nothing, really. Just guess I took your post the wrong way.

Now here's where the problem arises. Every month Nintendo delays the game, it'll get closer and closer to being swallowed up in next gen hype. So do we ask for Nintendo to release it early and get some respectable sales, but the off chance that it could be a not-as good game? Or do we give them as much time as they need, having a godly game, but have the game sell way less than WW, giving Nintendo a reason never to make another Zelda of this magnitude ever again?

that news sucks since I wanted to buy this game for the cube.

Bitch about it taking forever or bitch about lack of polish when it releases when you want it to.

Good morning, The Worm, Your Honour,
The Crown will plainly show,
The prisoner who now stands before you,
Was caught red-handed showing good sense
Showing good sense of an almost intellectual nature
This will not do

I am GLAD they are doing this. The last thing i want is some rushed crap ala the end of WW to ruin a mediocre experience.

Not after Wind Waker. I'm looking forward to TP and will purchase it the day it's released, but I've never been less excited about a proper Zelda. Another trailer or impressions from media that'll splooge over it no matter what isn't going to change that.

nice Pink Floyd reference love that song :)

It's hard not to be disappointed about the long wait, but Nintendo didn't confirm an April or whatever release date, so it hasn't been 'delayed'... we're just getting a clearer picture of when it'll come.

Thats inevitable either way.

And I just hope the game is great AND ships soon, god knows they've had a long enough time. Either one (release soon, good-not-spectacular/release late, excellent) is bad, the only correct answer you should be looking for is release soon, spectacular.

It would make sense to have a candidate for best game ever launch alonside the console which is set to take on the PS3 rather than have one last swan song for the GC fans. (It can do that too btw!)

Its apparently being re-worked a lot and is almost like a different game now according to the Nintendo Mag dude.

Bad news here (I guess) is that Rev would be launching in November in the US. Which is too frikkin late!

how long has this game been in development now ? expecting something amazing now.

Development started towards the end end of WW's development cycle.
Matt says alot of things and it usually ends up as rubbish, although I'm not holding my breath expecting to play it before the summer. The rumour of 100 hours of (real) gameplay, better be god damn true!!

I agree, they should just move it Rev. Really, what's the point in releasing it on GC now? The game has been delayed over a year and there's no way of Nintendo releasing it without Rev coming out at around the same time. GC is dead and half the people that will play it are going to be playing it on Revolution anyway. Why risk losing Rev sales to GC at that point. They should update the graphics and use this game as a showcase of how a game will work with the revmote shell. Give it standard controls with some tilt functions or something. As far a Rev launch, they didn't say it was coming out at Thanksgiving, they said it had to be out before. After Nintendo's comments about the Xbox 360 shortages, I think they're planning on meeting demand this time. They could have an earlier release and then have a second wave of shipments come through for Thanksgiving.

If Nintendo actually did that, I think angry fans would probably burn down their headquarters. :lol

I doubt they would go with cel-shading but perhaps some drastic change went on. Have they fucked with the gameplay, is the story no longer dark, no more Wolf Link, no more Adult Link, etc,. Are things that worry me.

delayed almost a year... this better be the best game of all time. no excuses this time Nintendo.
