Zelda in November?

You're right. I wonder if they've changed the character models again. The first time Zelda was shown, Link looked pretty sweet. But at E3 imo he looked different and more feminine (but still cool). I wonder if they've reversed this.

I doubt they've totally changed the story to make it less dark. Not too long ago one of the game's producers told NP that it was going to be sad or something (hence the Zelda rape theories :lol ).

I want to see:

-First Link model brought back
-Orchastrated music
-Fixed animations (IE Link's shuffling feet)

Those are the only "improvements" I'd like to see really. The game looked stunning at E3 despite the minor issues.

so Twilight Princess is April? OMG OMG please be true. just get the Gamecube elements right and save all the Revolution control functions for the true Revolution Zelda.
 
I don't know. Still don't see a substantial difference. MAYBE the hair did look a bit nicer in the 2004 build.

Thats because all they showed was him angry in that trailer. The pictures I posted were him smiling, because they simply didn't show the angry side of him in the E3 demo.

Hey Matt/Mark,

I know this is a GameCube question, but being that the GC is practically gone and with all of the Revolution controller functionality being rumored for it, where in the name of the Triforce is Zelda: TP? Do you have any info on when we might expect a release date announcement? In your opinion, is Zelda: TP is headed for a Q4 '06 release?

Matt responds: You've got a wait ahead of you. Twilight Princess isn't coming in the first half of 2006, as you might have already guessed. But worse, some people who pre-ordered the game have received e-mails informing them of a November 2006 ship date. Whether or not this will ultimately happen is still up in the air - it'd be highly suspect of Nintendo to release both the new Zelda and Revolution in the same month. Then again, if the game really uses the innovative new controller on Revolution - and it probably does - perhaps the Big N is positioning the game's release as a means to sell its new platform while still satisfying GameCube owners.

Why not use some basic common sense in terms of business?

This is probably the most expensive game Nintendo has ever developed. It's also likely the biggest software release of 2006 period.

Why should they piss it away on a dead platform during the slow months of spring?

As for those bitching and moaning about a few extra months ... gimme a break. Nintendo now pumps out a ton of Zelda games all the time these days. It's not like waiting six and a half years in between Zelda: LttP on SNES and Zelda: OoT on N64.

*That* was a wait, this is nothing. We've gotten FOUR Zelda games since 1998 (OoT, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess ... I guess you could count Four Swords Adventures too and make it 5) versus one Mario game (Sunshine) during that same time span.

Zelda fans should shut the hell up IMO. Nintendo's 100% doing the smart thing here. You can never have enough good software to help buoy a new platform ... Jump Superstars and Mario Kart DS may not use the DS extra functionality in any special ways, but they've helped fill out the library and made a good mix of all-around software for everyone. Zelda: TP can do the same with the Rev launch.

People always want a big, "epic" kind of AAA game at a system launch ... the GameCube didn't have it and suffered for it ... Zelda: TP can automatically give the Revolution that right from day 1.
 
If its going to be a Rev launch title, 3rd parties are screwed. Having Mario and Zelda at launch is insane, plus whatever the new IP is, and the chance of getting Smash Bros. 3 at or near launch is just going to steal all the sales from 3rd party games.
 
I would not be entirely shocked if Smash Bros. is delayed to 2007.

It seems like they really didn't start working on this game until last summer, and if they're just doing a quickie sequel/upgrade ... why would Sakurai be interested in directing it again? Didn't he leave Nintendo because he wanted to get away from that?

Sadly QFT. Releasing the game a week or two before the Revolution could at least try to avoid that problem. It would still happen probably though.

I'm thinking Nintendo is going to have Mario and Metroid Prime 3 ready for launch. They'll also have a new IP aimed at non gamers (Miyamoto's new game more than likely). But that's still some heavy first party support.
 
SSB will not appear on the Rev at launch unless Nintendo decides to release a half assed version or doubles the development team size.
 
Yeah I'm expecting Smash to be delayed into 2007, but still there is a chance that it may make it out in 2006. Still though, having Zelda and Mario plus the new IP at launch is going to steal of ton of sales from 3rd party games.
 
I'm thinking a summer release would be perfect for this game. It still gives Nintendo a few months to polish it up, and it'll give the GameCube a bit more life until the Revolution releases (assuming it's a 2006 console).

Exactly, there is almost no difference between them. In fact I'd say the E3 2005 model looks better because the green tunic doesn't look as drab as the one in the E3 2004 Trailer.

The only difference are the facial Expression. I'm happy that they didn't get rid of facial expressions when they made the game all mature. Since facial expressions were a major addition to Wind Waker and all.
 
I just want a permanent release date and no bullshit. When it was announced that this game would be delayed until spring, I replied with "that's fine, I can wait a few extra months; I'm busy with school and my backlog of games anyways" thinking I wouldn't be waiting an entire fucking year. Please, Nintendo, stop fucking around with your fans. If it's not going to be Gamecube exclusive, don't say it will be. If you're delaying your flagship title for more than a little extra polish, don't lie about it and say it'll be out in a couple months.

I don't know if this is neccessarily true. The market overall on Nintendo machines tends to become bigger for everyone when Nintendo is releasing big time games (thus driving the userbase).

Revolution is simply never going to be a third-party driven platform ala the Playstation. Nintendo games will always make up a large portion of the software sales overall. But if Nintendo can't carry the machine with their own exclusives .... what chance do third parties have?

Resident Evil did nothing for the GameCube. It would've been to Resident Evil's benefit on the GCN, if Nintendo had Super Mario 64/Zelda: OoT/GoldenEye type hits around it.

There is no GTA game coming out this year.

Face it, this is going to most likely be the biggest console release of the year.

Zelda is still one of the most reknown and high profile franchises the industry has.

Zelda: TWW's sales were held back by two main factors IMO -- the radical visual style change and the lack of polish to the game ... neither will apply to Twilight Princess. If positioned as a dual GC/Rev title, I would expect this to sell well into 2007 as people pick up their Revolution systems.

Yes, but FFXII is coming out this year, and while I want Zelda way, way more than that, I have no doubt FFXII is going to outsell it by a wide margin.

a GTA for PSP is coming yes, but how can you make a post like that without something to back you up. make a list of the games you think will make Zelda look "small" :P

FFXII is going to outsell Zelda, world wide at least and definitley in Japan. I wouldn't be surprised if it outsold in America as well.
