Zelda LttP is boring.

I'm glad that the Link's Awakening fans are making a comeback -- it's one of my favorites :).

Though I liked both Link's Awakening and LttP a lot more than the Oracles games, to be honest.

Ages was fine. Seasons really suffered from being fucking tedious. It's right next to Zelda II as the worst in the series.

Maybe I spoke too hastily. Upon further contemplation, I realized that LttP didn't have as interesting a story as some of the other Zeldas. Oh well, the light/dark world thing was awesome so stfu.

New games are kinda boring too....

Lets face it, we all have ADD.

GTFO Tool! Seasons is definitely worse than Ages.
Quit kidding yourself that there's a real difference between the two. One just has different Pokemon.

Didn't play LttP on SNES.
Was all about Sega during 16 Bit.
Played LttP on GBA.
The game tore my head off.
I agree with Oli - might be the best game of all time.
It is the literature of game design, of this there is no doubt.
Thread is a troll. Fact that starter complains a game about figuring out beautiful puzzles is boring when using a FAQ is the most retarded thing.

Hmm, I re-play it about once a year and go through pretty easily still. It's a very fun game in moderation it seems. Sucks that it doesn't appeal to you anymore, though.

DQ8 sucks too, by the way

I think the game starts of really slow though, because you don't have your boots. Once you get them though, everything progress pleasantly.

...what's that got to do with this topic at all? Where'd that come from? I don't think I've ever talked to you about the game. :lol

I'm sure I dislike some games you like as well. :)

LttP is just a joy to play. The difficulty is just right, and even though I know every dungeon by heart I just love playing through it for the perfection of the whole game. The mood, the music, the graphics are all so enjoyable and beautifully crafted. The gameplay, battling especially, are perfection of 2D Zelda and just running around playing with the different weapons and items is greatness. The same way I'll always go back to Mario 3 every year or few years, I'll always go back and play through this because its simply that good and worth my time.

I see what you did there.

I replayed the GBA LttP back in 2004 and I enjoyed it just as much as any other Zelda. If Lindsay does not like it nowadays, well, it happens, I guess. People's taste in games change over time, just like people themselves.

Say what you will about LttP, at least it was not as cryptic as the original Zelda. Not that I am bashing that game. LttP was a great evolution for the series and I respect that. I say it still holds up very well today. Sure, people have been spoiled by LA, the GBC pair and Minish Cap in terms of 2d zelda, not to mention OoT and MM plus WW...

Just consider it compared to other games of it's time.

I'm not so concerned with the past nowadays, I'd LOVE to see another Zelda game with the charm and personality of Majora's Mask. That's my absolute favorite one. It just really clicked for me.

Wow, it's really trendy on this forum to pour heaps of praises on the mediocre Oracle series. Talk about a terrible overworld. Annoying animals were a con as well. While the dungeons were slightly harder than the LTTP dungeons they were simply not as fun to play.

i'm just messin.. but seriously

I can't understand ppl actually disliking this game that bad. I can't understand some rating Oracles/Seasons and LA above LttP. I just can't. The game is way too fucking perfect for that. It's impossible!

Am I the only one who dislikes Link's Awakening?

The whole overworld is like a stupid giant dungeon. It's too crowded, most places are too small, there are too many puzzles(for a overworld)... I couldn't even bring myself to finish the game. The dungeons themselves are great, and most are at least as good as Alttp's, the storyline seems interesting too, but the overworld just kills it.

Seasons has a similar problem. Ages is the only GB Zelda which I actually could enjoy...

LTTP is boring

and boring

what he said...
i never finished lttp, the last time i played it, i reached turtle rock and then didn't finish it because i lost all my interest

I liked Lttp back in the day but I couldn't bring myself to replay it recently. I guess that could be said for any Zelda game though. Once you "solve" em, there isn't much reason to go back, I guess.

So basically there are only about two or three people here who hate the game and everyone else considers it a beautiful classic? Maybe it's nostalgia talking or maybe the two or three don't know what the fuck they're talking about.

What can I say I hate the Zelda theme. Its loud and obnoxious.

And you lost every inch of credibility there. I respected your opinion up until then, though I disagreed with you. Now I know you're just trying to start shit.

Hey guys I re-beat yet another game just minutes ago! Why LttP? Cause the other day I was teaching my mom how to use the GB Player and I popped this game in for example since she likes old games and anyway I noticed I had a second unfinished save file. I vaguely remember starting a second playthrough so it musta been over a year ago at least. It was saved up to Dark World dungeon three. Since that's pretty far I figured I'd finish it.....

But instead I soon found the reason I'd abandoned the save! This game is boring! >_<; Maybe its cause I beat a ton of times as a kid but I doubt it cause many games I've beaten lots have held up over time. Dungeon 3 was annoying cause of how broken up it is. Four was straight foward and simple and Blind was a neat boss to meet but lame to fight. Swamp dungeon was so forgettable I....don't even remember going through it. Ice palace however freaking sucks! I still to this day get lost and lost and lost in it.

It took me forever to get into Turtle Rock cause I needed the quake spell and forgot where it was! Well not really I thought it was in the Light World at the well of wishing. Nope its in that exact spot in the DARK WORLD. UGH! Two of the spells are in Light World so you'd kinda expect all three to be there! So I got in dreading the place would be horribly long except it was easy and short. OOooookay....

With all seven crystals I headed straight to the pyramid!......where nothing happened. I zoomed through the text so I don't know if it tells you where to go but when I figured it out I just about threw my GBA. So I have to fight through ANOTHER dungeon?! That was maddening since I'd thought I had just beat the last one and was on my way to end this misery by fighting the final boss but nope instead I have to plod through rehash tower.

At this point I whipped out a faq and just took the fastest way through it, ignoring map, compass and pointless side rooms. I beat the all four rehashed bosses in record time and finally get to go to the pyramid and beat Ganon! Yay! And I did without dying or needing a potion or falling off the battlefield. Turned the volume down cause the end music was pretty irritating. What can I say I hate the Zelda theme. Its loud and obnoxious. Credits finish rolling and then....nothing. I press alot of buttons but don't get taken back to the title screen so I just turn it off.

I dunno why but I just don't much like this game anymore. Link is slowwwww, the sword-beam attack is and many baddies get too many cheap shots. Can anyone tell me why wearing a cape that makes you invisible also make you able to walk on spikes o.O? What's the point of the blue wand? And why do I always miss the fourth bottle?? The controls are crap, inventory screen is crap as it is in every Zelda, and its all just plain unsatisfying. I'm not trying to hate or be hated butttt clearly I've lost what love I had for this game and I don't got a clue why!

What's wrong with you?

The game is a pure classic, through and through. It's timeless--musically and visually. The GBA version is a notch below the SNES due to soundtrack rape (the biggest offender is the Mudora's Book "Prayer" theme *shudders*) and the asshole decision to include Link "Yelps", so our silent hero is now a whiny boy.

But let's make this clear: LTTP is one of the best games ever made.

Maybe I hate LttP because I've experienced 2d Zelda perfection with the Minish Cap o.o?

The Minish Cap does indeed rock. Simply beautiful and endearing. One of my favorite gaming experiences in recent memory. I have no real complaints about it save that the world felt too "hub" like. I prefer the expansive feel of LTTP.

Hmmm...

You know...

Nah. No, it's not boring.

But I wish I could make myself forget all the secrets and whatnot.

Just so I could enjoy it all over again and have it not be so easy.

I'm just throwing whatever I can into the pot here .... but I used to HATE zelda ... all of 'em ---- I didn't like dungeons at all, and well, much of zelda is dungeons....

but i was so captivated by WindWaker's visuals that I imported it, gave it a run through, got the domestic and beat the hell outa' that one too ---- I fell in love with Zelda, and went on to beat all the others in the franchise...

though all of them are great, and i say I like Minish Cap the most, but ---- LttP is the one I've completed the most .... it just feels right.
and I might give its flaws a little more amnesty knowing that it's so old ... but it's just fun to me, and it's probobly a good thing that I knew nothing about it going in.
the challenge seemed nicely ballanced - before I ever knew what to do i was dying in every dungeon.
and the overworld was my fav part .... unlike many other zelda overworlds that are chunked together in sections, LttP seemed extremely seamless .... and since I had never used a guide, it really felt as if I was making discoveries.
I can understand how getting a guide and rushing through LttP would ruin it .... and yea, you do have to read all the NPC talk - they always tell you exactly what to do...

zelda's a slower paced kinda game, and if you aren't ready to sit down with it it's going to seem 'boring'
.... I guess I don't really have a point to make here other than i'm pretty new to zelda overall, and LttP felt pretty near to perfection ... even if I experienced it over a decade late.

Turned the volume down cause the end music was pretty irritating.

I still can't get over this part. Child molestor or something...

No dude you got me wrong! I love Zelda games, but at some points in the game, to me atleast, they get seriously boring. I love OoT and it's a special game to me but once I got to a certain point I couldn't stand to play it. Majora's Mask got boring real fast because of the whole time element, no matter how awesome of an idea it was. Zelda II is meh. I can't even stand Zelda 1 now even though it was one of the first games I ever played, and the FIRST game I ever beat. I haven't played Link's Awakening or the GBC games or Minish Cap, but I can say that I love Link to the Past. It never gets old. Same as Wind Waker, though I'm definitely in the minority with that one. Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda.

Majora's Mask annoyed me to no ends. I still haven't beaten it. It looks like such a fun game, but I can never get far because of the stupid three day theory thing.

Zelda II? Bad, I agree. Zelda 1 is still great, although I can't play it on a console anymore. I played it on my DS and it was much more enjoyable.

Link's Awakening is the best handheld Zelda game ever. It's the best handheld game ever in fact. *waits for Drinky*

The Oracle games are very good too. I haven't played Minnish Cap yet.

Wind Waker is criminally under apreciated. It's a solid, solid game. Sure it gets annoying at the end, but it has so much other stuff going for it. Great art, great music, great gameplay, and a better combat system than OOT.

OOT is my favorite game of all time lol. Hence the avatar. Zelda music will forever be bumbed from my car.

You guys really need to play Minish Cap. For myself, I really need to play Link's Awakening. Either way, there's more Zelda to be had for all! :)

Just because I don't like a very repetitive and short piece of music I lose credibility?? Good god even the Mario theme took longer to loop then the Zelda theme which is criminally inexcusable because unlike the Mario theme, you gotta listen to the Zelda one for at least 30% of the time you're playing if not more! That would wear on any normal person pretty fast!

I'm kinda sad/frustrated I no longer like a game I used to think was great o.o?

I'm gonna have to agree - kind of. My view may be tainted, because I played through Link's Awakening (one of my favorite games of all time) first, but I tried playing LttP on the GBA and only got to like the 3rd or 4th dungeon before losing interest. It just....seemed dull, I guess. I'm sure things would be different had I played through it on the SNES way back when. I think the poor quality of the GBA music affected my enjoyment of LttP, actually. A game's music is very important to me, and I was really put off by the GBA version's.

Minish Cap, on the other hand, I enjoyed. So it's not simply that 2D Zeldas bore me now.
