Zelda on revolution - back to cell shading?

You see no design differences? Blind.
How about getting a few good quality pictures of Link from the same angle and maybe, just maybe I might be able to see the difference you are talking about.

Olimario, your comparison is unfair because you obviously chose the worst possible shots and angles for your two comparison screens.

oh of course. you have 20/20 vision and everyone else is blind.

bulbous feet, longer arms, a creepier face? you're imagining things.

Link's features are too over-the-top on the new screen (left). He looks much more realistic and much better on the right.

And he wears this huge clodhoppers now. I much prefer the old look.

ummm... in that first pic you're mistaking an awkward action pose (from a split second of time) for a change in the design of the models. Link's pose in the right pic is more relaxed (not in the middle of an extreme action) so his proportions don't appear as exaggerated. The camera position and perspective differences also don't help with the model proportion comparisons. And would you mind pointing out how the arms appear longer and how his face is "creepier"?

As for the feet... I'm pretty sure the boot seems less "bulbous" in the right pic because it's actually clipping through the ground (look at his back foot in the original pics. the area around the toe end of the boot has thickness) :lol And if that's not that case, it hardly matters because the boot on the left looks better anyway. It is a boot afterall, not a slipper...

Exactly. There really is no difference at all. Why would Nintendo have changed Links model at all, especially after the great comments they received when they first unvieled the game? Link looks as good as ever and I love this Link just as much as the OoT/SSBM model.

You can't see a difference between

???
Link used to look so much better. Now he has bulbous feet, longer arms, a creepier face, etc...
There is a huge difference between them.
from what I can see, it seems that in the earlier build his feet were passing thorugh the floor, and now they corrected that

What the fuck happened... this was a Celda, Minish Cap and old-Zelda-art love-in ...

now we're talking exclusively about Link's boots?
Of course...look at the size of the things.
They're FUCKING huge. They go up what? ALMOST half his leg. And they've gotta be what? AT LEAST a little bigger than his feet.

He looks great.

Only thing I can see is that the lighting looks better in the right screen. On the left it doesn't look like a suit, more like plastic.

The boot is fine though. (and it looks stunning)

well since I am in a better mood today, I thought I should chip into and contribute to this thread now.

I would love to have a celshaded zelda on revolution. I love the celshading style in Wind Waker, however while I love the celshadin in WW, I didn't like the art very much, and I think the art in TP is better.

so basicly I want art like this on Revolution Zelda:

offart8.jpg

combined with celshading like this:

then again, Zelda DS might be celshaded already. Look at THAWS for DS. Looks great with celshading.

I agree with Oli here: the character model looked cooler in the original trailer. The last few pics Nintendo released of Link looked odd to me. In the first trailer, he looked totally bad@$$, especially in the pick where he's sitting on Epona looking into the distance.

The game still looks freaking amazing of course. Perhaps his look will change again.

dunno about a different link model in the trailers really. If you watch the first trailer, and then watch the GDC trailer, they used the 2004 Link combined with the 2005 link. I don't think they changed much, if anything at all. Might be an optical illusion, and just different angles playing a trick on us.

Didn't Eiji Aonum already say that the graphical style of TP would be used in future Zelda games?

He's said that the cel-shading in Zelda hasn't been put to rest too.
Style has never been 100% consistent anyway really.

to date this is the best Link Nintendo have done imo(favorite is still Capcoms Link)

can you imagine HDR lighting in next Gen Zelda.............:D

next gen zelda will be more next gen controls than graphics.

After seeing Rev's specs....no I can't. :P

OoT and (sadly) MM artwork is some of the most universally terrible Zelda artwork to ever 'grace' the series ... yes, in some ways, even worse than this:

NOW this thread is complete.

The preference of TP's art style over WW's has nothing to do with one's masculinity. Hell, I play fuggin Kirby. KIRBY! HE'S PINK!!
He's also male. ;-) Or? *scratches head*

But honestly, I was just pissed of the "more realistic is better" stance, it's just too unimaginitive in my opinion and I automatically put it in the same vein as "mainstream" and "Raiden hate". Guess I'll start a thread one day. TP's art isn't all that bad but I'm a little disappointed. Too much of a common denominator. Probably close to what many people intuitively make up in their minds after reading Lord of the Rings.

i think i may have just converted myself with those last three images :lol

I like this style. Oh, and Princess Zelda looks perfect :D
Almost like a cartoonish drawing of what I consider ideal in the real world. Trascendent, Peak of beauty in terms of human potential and far beyond the ordinary, IMHO.

Considering the REV. controller would be best with cel shading, and Aonuma did say another cel shading Zelda would be made, I think it's a high possibility.

Meh ... the more I think about it the less I want a cell shaded Zelda ever again.

Nintendo has like a 1000 franchises that are inherintley cartoony and can be cell shaded.

Cell shade something else for crying out loud. Leave Metroid and Zelda alone.

I'm all for a 2D cel-shaded Metroid that looks like the Zero Mission artwork. Just thought I'd throw that random thought in

that doesn't make any sense, why would cel shading work better with the revomote?

Presentation wise? That's like Nintendo saying they made Link a kid and the gameplay easy due to its graphics. That's what I was trying to say.

I really hope Zelda:TP is playable with the revmote. I expect it will be and AWESOMEO.

no I hope Zelda:TP controls normally, because it doesn't make any sense changing stuff around for this game. Rev Zelda will have the remote instead.

Really, I'm trying to see why people think OoT has the worst art. It looks hardly different from some of the art used for LttP, minus the missing tights and different style boots.

The only ones that are radically different are the (hideous) WW and the (pretty cool) TP ones.

I quite enjoyed Wind Wakers art style. A lot. And would have preferred TP turned out the same way. But I'm not disappointed with what they have now, just that I wouldn't have cried to mommy had they decided to use Cel this time. I quite hope if they make a Zelda for the DS that they decide to use Cel again. I mean, the DS would be perfect for Cel. Especially as it would keep the load down.

Here's looking forward to a Zelda DS in the syle of WW. Maybe even a direct WW sequel. (I refuse to buy any rumors that TP is a direct sequel to WW. I just don't see it.)

"No, PINK!"

It was the Kirby 64 commercial with the guy who played Endless Mike on The Adventures of Pete and Pete.
