Zelda OoT 3DS CD Preorder Help Thread [*Ends Midnight, Monday, June 20th*]

No joke.

MSI was refusing to give me a rebate on a graphics card I bought for them, telling me that the UPC I sent in was from a different product. Not only did Amazon give me $15 credit, but I think they contacted MSI on my behalf, because the next day I got an e-mail saying my check was in the mail.

Things like this are why they get all of my business.

UPS on the other hand, seems to have sent my game to the wrong state.

I never assumed there was a deadline when I heard about "while supplies last". I figured they would run out of their CD's they had available after a few hours. Stuff like that happens all the time on the Internet so I guess it lasted longer then I thought it would.
I think the talk about the deadline is rather silly -- there only was a deadline because of the technical problems. Technically they extended the promotion.

What is silly is the apparently low amount of CDs, but as you said I can't understand anyone who thought that the supply would last longer than a few hours.

It is ridiculuos though that NoE offers the CDs to everyone who registers his game until the 30th (that's two weeks after release), while NoA can't be bothered to have the promotion running for longer than 2 days.

One branch cares about his fans, the other doesn't, or something.

Has this been posted? Seems like people can still get the CD.

"Thank you for your interest in this offer. All members who registered the game by 12:01am Pacific Time Tuesday, June 21, 2011 will receive the CD. Beyond this date, we will continue to send CDs to registrants on a first-come, first-serve basis, while supplies last."

Wow. I had no plans to buy this release in the first place (own the cart and GC compiliation, finished the game like 10 times), but what a fucking joke this is. Multi-billion dollar, multi-national corporation publicly broadcasts a silly purchase incentive and renigs after the first 1 or 2 hundred thousand copies of a 5 cent CD. What a way to build good will Nintendo, a true stand up operation. Two words: shameful and pathetic.

Hey, nice. Nintendo's throwing us online-buying schmucks a bone. Pretty dick move though to not extend the deal to at least the end of the week.

Okay, was just asking to see if I would need to update OP again (ffs Nintendo). I put up their contact info again if people want to reach them, but will wait to see if there's any other similar issues before putting any more detailed info or if it was just a fluke in their system. Glad you're getting the CD though.

I asked him if I would have received the CD if I wouldnt have called and he said I probaly wouldnt have as somthing didnt go through. He had to put in the order him self and it took him a minute or two. Was that common with everyone's experience when they contacted nintendo. He then gave me my order number right on the phone. If you havnt received an email i'd contact them just incase.

I did register the game through my android phone because my internet was down so I have no clue if that could have caused my problem.

Just checked it out. Hope I was lucky enough to catch a CD.

I think people are badly misunderstanding what NOA is saying about the Soundtrack offer and getting angry about nothing. ALl that they're saying is that if you register the game by 12:01 AM PST Tuesday you are guaranteed a game. After that deadline has passed, the registration turns into "first come, first serve" and lasts until the remaining CDs run out. Who knows how many CD's they have, but I'm sure it's a quite respectable amount. (enough at least so that the supply won't run out until the end of Tuesday at the earliest, in my opinion.) I just don't understand why people are thinking that there was going to be an unlimited amount of soundtracks going out and are so upset when "limited supplies" really means just that - " [bold] limited [/bold] supplies."

This is a new edit, actually. Before that they said only those who register by 21 will get a CD.

Lets be real guy, there are less than a million 3DS out in the NA wilds--perhaps several hundred thousand less. How many of that number do you really think bought Zelda so close to launch day AND registered it online post haste? We're talking about a very small number and a very very cheap bonus. Regardless of that, the pop up offer is/was presumably removed from the website by/after that deadline, no? Why would they continue to pop up an offer for an invalid and/or non-guaranteed bonus?

Didn't they have 29k calls about it on Sunday?
Who knows how many they printed.

I was pretty happy Amazon gave me $20 to be honest, I'll be using that towards StarFox 64 3D later on. That is worth more than a damn soundtrack.

But I'll take the soundtrack too! So I went on and registered on the site and hopefully I'll get a copy of it. If not, I got fucked out of 40 coins for the next year Platinum status but meh lol

Man, I wish I knew Amazon would have let me use my $20 credit on any game. I ended up ordering Monkey Ball 3D from the Gold Box for $2 with the credit. Didn't really want the game, but seemed like the best deal.

Not sure how anyone would come by that information, but it sounds about right. As I said, I would have estimated 100-200k, so 29k problems seems to be in line with that and what you would expect for a widely publicized issue spawning FAQ's on enthusiast forums.

Is everybody that registered yesterday really guaranteed a copy? Even if you still don't have an order for it listed on your account? I don't see the order for the CD anywhere on my account. If it was on my account, where would it be?

I registered yesterday afternoon, but didn't get the Soundtrack pop-up. I sent them an email via the online form about it yesterday but still haven't heard back.

Should I email again? Call?

I want that soundtrack. But I don't want to bug or add extra stress to Customer Service if I don't have too.

Wait until next Sunday/Monday and if you still don't have an email about it by then, I would call/email Customer Service.

Had a funny thought. Assuming the cut off point was indeed ~100-200k copies, at around 30-40 cents each (production + standard postage), they literally spent more money paying people to dream up and implement the promotion than they did on the actual end users (which would be $30,000 - $80,000 by the way). Never mind the cost fielding however many CS calls over their botched implementation.

As I said earlier, I don't think the CSRs know about how the new offer will be implemented yet. According to what they'd been told, it would seem like it wouldn't go through, but that's because they don't know that some day next week, they are going to retrospectively give everyone who ordered early enough (and a few more now, it seems) the CD. I strongly suggest giving Nintendo a break from the calls and e-mails and only doing so next week once the time they said they will enable the game offer for everyone else rolls around.

Yeah, that's how it is now. It is a recent edit and only just became that way. Take a look for the version of the same text I quoted from just after the deadline expired a few pages back and you will see there was much less hope due to the wording.

Does everyone else's order say backordered?
Yes.

Don't call yet. Wait the week. They have stated that they will confirm your order sometime next week. If there is no word then, e-mail or call and you will still have time as they aren't shipping until two weeks from now.

Place an order for the game that you actually want, then start a live chat with a customer service rep and feign ignorance on the "select games" part. They'll apply the $20 to your order. Their policy is to always give the customer what they want, even when the customer misunderstood something.

This is why Amazon has the best customer service in the world.

hah that actually worked. I got them to take $20 off Resident Evil: The Mercenaries and they removed the game credit from my account. I did it via email though.

Okay, just a quick checkup, if I registered on the 20th and don't see any trace of an order on the Club Nintendo website, should I call support, or is it normal that the site just isn't caught up yet?

Hmmm. For anyone in Ireland having trouble getting it to accept a postcode, leave it blank and keep submitting the form. Eventually it'll ask you if you want to turn off automatic address checking, which you should do. That worked for me anyway.

Provided you're talking about the US offer, it is normal. Sometime next week, they are going to update everybody who registered by the deadline. Calling or e-mailing would get you a confirmation now, but there is likely no need.

I just got my confirmation email (US) about the soundtrack and I didn't get the popup or email/call customer service. So I'm assuming that means they've started sending out the emails for everyone who registered by midnight. Good luck to you all on getting your soundtracks!

They applied the credit to my open order for Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor OC after I emailed them. I also apparently had another $15 in promotions laying around they applied too, so I'll get it for $5. :)

Now I just hope I'll get one of the non-guarenteed copies of the OST.

Just got off the phone with CS. The CD is backordered and will begin shipping on July 5th.
Yes. We've known this ever since the promotion started.

Nice to know they're beginning to come through. Anybody who hasn't received the e-mail yet, just be patient. Nintendo usually takes about a day to get through all the different e-mails in cases like this.

I never received the popup or the email but I didnt think anything of it because of the information in this thread. That is until someone linked the order status in here which mine was showing up blank. I decided to fill out the webform just in case. I just got an email from a Nintendo CSR and an email confirmation at the same time.

I registered my game on the 20th and sent a message via NoA's web form letting them know that I didn't get a pop up message or any confirmation. They just put my order through yesterday night.

Nintendo email'd me back, same deal as everyone else, confirmed I did the survey then provided the shipping info.

Anyone register the game AFTER the deadline and get any emails, ever since they made the offer first come first serve after deadline?

Ugh, I had no idea the window was so short! I was finally able to pick it up yesterday but didn't get a chance to open it. It was sold out at the places I looked at since Sunday but I didn't put further effort into it thinking I had at least a few days to get in on it.

Has Nintendo got back to anyone from EU here who had problems ordering the CD?

Got the original email earlier in the week addressing the issue and saying they would be sending out individual emails, but nothing more so far.

just checked my order status..."Backordered"....fuuuuuuuu!
well I registered before the original due date so Im sure that OoT OST comes within few weeks

I think it says that because Nintendo isn't shipping the CDs until july.

I didn't get my game in the mail till Tuesday due to the Postal Strike. So after I registered the game I played dumb and sent Nintendo an Email saying "There was this CD offer or something and I want to make sure I get it. Can you help me?"

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that you had technical issues when trying to place your order for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Soundtrack CD.

Using the information you provided, I was able to locate your Club Nintendo account. I see that you qualify for this promotion, so I have taken the liberty of placing an order for the soundtrack CD (it will be sent to the address on your account).

The next time you login to your account, you can click “Reward Order Inquiry” on your Club Nintendo homepage to view your order status (please allow 30 minutes for this order to appear in your Club Nintendo account).

We will begin shipping the soundtrack CD the week of July 5. Please allow 1-2 weeks from the ship date for delivery.

Sincerely,

Nintendo of America Inc.
Adam Shingler
Consumer Service Administration

And I got the confirmation Email. Nintendo customer service is awesome.

I just registered mine this morning and I haven't received an email confirming it but now it was Order Accepted - Backordered in Reward Order Inquiry so I guess they still have some left if you're registering.

Got my email, I never emailed or called them but I did register before the first deadline was up (around 5 pm eastern on Monday I believe.)

My order confirmation shows backordered on my account now.

edit: Guess a batch just went out lol
