Zelda: Skyward Sword @ GDC New Trailer

You know Nintendo did this on purpose, so what does it mean?

Or is the Zelda team just continuing with its eternal tolling of us all?

It's not as if they did that as an easter egg for a guy to find out...

that's just how muzik works

Yeah, this reeks of laziness to me. They couldn't even come up with a new song, they just reversed an old one and passed it off as new!

You should try effectively reversing a song to fit a trailer and have it sound good.

Yeah, mind blowing. A little less than Peach Super Smash music in Brawl, but still.

So, we had this:

That's the backward Sword and now, we have the Skyward Sword. This translate for Kondo as a reverted theme song. Pretty cool idea!

Not really that simple. Notes sound very different in reverse, to get the arrangement sounding like a new tune with a cohesive pace whilst simultaneously sounding like Zelda's lullaby in reverse wouldn't be easy... its a nice job.

It's a bit like a 'crab canon' - which Bach was famous for using, except he would have the melody and reversed melody in the same piece.

It reminds me of Spinning Plates by Radiohead, in which they did some reverse trickery and employed musical palindromes... it made it sound like the lyrics were being sent through a wormhole from another dimension or something.

not saying it was random, saying they did it on purpose but not for the fact of being "awesome"

so the joke's on you!
You don't get it. The fact that they purposely didn't do it for the "awesome" makes it even more awesome!

Oh. My. God. This is most definitely relevant to my interests.

[edit]Okay, listening to this cost me and a friend the achievement in Portal 2 for doing all 9 chambers in no4 without dying. We were on the last chamber. I got shot by turrets while listening to this in the Steam browser. There was little hilarity.

I should have spotted this, it reminded me of the lullaby but I never twigged it was backwards. And I think I'm the only person who thought it was a catchy tune.

However, this actually gave me goosebumps. Good job, Nintendo, good job.

I believe he was referring to this.

But yes, very awesome of Nintendo to do. That must've been hard to make it even sound good.

Just showed my friend. It blew his mind too. Nintendo did the same thing wit I think the Song of Storm and the Song of Healing.

It's actually Saria's Song and the Song of Healing. Neat stuff...

This has made me watch the GDC video again a few times today and honestly it looks a lot more fun than I gave it credit for back during GDC.

I'm starting to get hyped.

Good find

Yeah same here, HYPE!!!

Very cool. Kind of surprised that the trailer music turned out as epic as it did. A kind of languid epic. Shit like this kinda geeks me out.

Before I realized why this thread was bumped (holy shit btw!) I was watching the trailer and I got that same feeling...

Why E3 couldn't be sooner, like I dunno, tomorrow? :(

Holy fuck, is it pathetic for me to have gotten chills while listening to that?
