Zelda Wii U will be talked about at E3 2014

Less talk, more game. I want to see the damn game and not listen to people talk about it.

No I think they said they are going to do something new. They have also said it won't be realistic or cartoony.

Thank God, the tech demo looks too generic, like Twilight Princess HD.

It will be like this:

Iwata: "Now, let's talk about Zelda for WiiU"

Aonuma: "Yeah, development is going smoothly, but you will have to wait a bit longer *laughs*

Miyamoto: *laughs*

Iwata: *laughs*

Someone showed me this gif

Would be a nice mix of artstyles we've seen untill now imo.

BORING

Seriously, I'd be so disappointed if this was the art style (or lack of) they choose.

Semi necro bump,

Aonuma had planned to announce something about Zelda U at NYCC (and possibly gamescom too?), but didn't have enough time due to the length of his ALBW+WW HD presentation.

Q.: Are you already preparing an anouncement for next E3? Maybe a Zelda for Wii U, how about that?

Eiji Aonuma: On the occasion of my visits in New York and Germany I actually wanted to prepare something for the fans I could present. But I was too busy preparing the presentation of A Link Between Worlds that I am now empty-handed. But be excited about future Announcements. As soon as I'm back in my office I'll start working so that I really got something to announce.

Soon.

whoops, didn't realise go nintendo site is blocked. Will replace with another.

Please more equipment, thanks. I want different swords and tunics and shit. I don't want equipment loot like Diablo or anything. I just want 5 or so different swords and tunics that I get for different sidequests and shit. And make them upgradeable.

Given Nintendo's current approach to video game releases, it's safe to assume that Zelda U is going to be their flagship title at E3 2014. The days of fully unveiling a game and then delaying it half a dozen times over 2-3 years are gone. Nowadays, they tend to not talk about games at all or only hint at them until they are fairly close to launch. They've confirmed that they're working on it, and I expect them to go all out with it next year for a possible holiday 2014 or spring 2015 release, such that next year's E3 would be the last before the game's release

Soon.

So, please, be excited.
It's sad that Nintendo is right now in such a hurry to create games for 2 platforms without 3rd party support, that they to make annoucements of announcements. I guess they struggle to keep people excited for the WiiU...
Well, fuck, the worse part is that I am excited.

this's all the talk I want to hear about Zelda U at E3

"I'm Eiji Aonuma, The Legend of Zelda WiiU producer. Here's a 15 minute trailer because you know you want it and I'm here to deliver, bitches"

So, please, be excited.

Making announcements of announcements. Every company does this, not just Nintendo.

We've already known that they've been able to make announcements about Zelda Wii U for some time. Miyamoto said shortly after E3 they could of shown it but chose not to because of the fact it would draw attention away from the playable games on the showfloor. Wouldn't be surprised if we got a tease in a Direct sometime soon.

I'm still pullling for Zelda all-out reveal in E3, then Holiday 2014 release. It really does seem like they've been working on it for longer than we suspect.

zelda? again?? When will Nintendo be talking about StarFox, F-Zero, Metroid, Kid Icarus, and (heaven forbid) new IPs???

If e3 2014 is going to be another year of watered down mario games and a new zelda im throwing my Wii U in the garbage and they loose me as a customer.

I wish they'd start revealing shit like they did with Twilight Princess, where we had no clue it existed.

That was what I meant.
It was why a lot of people got disappointed by their E3 2013. All the big guns was already announced, and the rest was not really surprising (DKCTF).
Well, for now, let's enjoy ALBW, because it looks like a really good game...

Why would Aonuma talk about any of this?

Of course it will be. Hell, they have already said it can be shown now, and they were going to, but decided against it. Between this an X will get me to finally buy a Wii U. I'm hoping for another price drop cause it is still to expensive.

Ah, but given the DK delay, they might end up delaying the game till 2015. Crazy, I know.

I don't think the game will be ready in time before 2015 though. But to catch the holiday rush, and to offset some of the hype of other franchises, Zelda coming out in 2014 does make sense.

And to think that I said 2015 in an earlier post. Silly me.

I worded it poorly, but then again there are several different translations from the source so I'm not sure. His words were roughly to "prepare something for the fans I could present/show" which implies he wanted to show off or tease something concept art, teaser trailer or whatever and or announce something. Remember he had to promote and focus on both WW HD and ALBW at the time.

Considering the graphical standards of the world by then, it'll be hard to impress with technical prowess.

Why does it need to? Nintendo are kings of getting the most out of their consoles, and while on a technical level they don't stand up, they still manage to look amazing and hold up a lot better than the competition.

to be honest, the console graphical standards will be pretty much obsolete for PC gamers in just a few months

and 3d World impresses me as much as Ryse (not saying they're comparable, polycount-wise)

Yeah, man, how can they make a new friggin Zelda, the one series Nintendo fans probably love the most?

Semi necro bump,

Aonuma had planned to announce something about Zelda U at NYCC (and possibly gamescom too?), but didn't have enough time due to the length of his ALBW+WW HD presentation.

Aonuma was on a press tour in America and Germany (and other European countries?) starting from his NYCC speech. That's what he's referring to when he talks about Germany, not gamescom.

I would be disappointed if all he did was talk to be honest. The Wii U has already been out for a year, soon it will be 2 years since Skyward Sword. I know it was like a 5 year gap between TP and SS though.

I would like to once again say 'Yeah man this Zelda game was awesome' without adding 'except for'. Please just stay away from SS type Fi assistance, TP type forced wolf collection, WW type map/triforce gathering (thankfully fixed in HD at least). How hard is it to design a new Zelda game and not be like 'but what could we add to split the fanbase and make a lot of people not enjoy it'.

That was what I meant.

They had a big gun they could of announced, going by the fact Miyamoto said right after E3 that they could of shown Zelda, and that it's progressing in development at a steady pace. But, they didn't show it because they wanted people to focus on the games that were playable on the show floor, like Bayonetta, Wonderful 101, Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, Mario 3D World, etc. They know Zelda would be stealing all the attention from those games. So they decided not to show it.

Meh, they just say this to hide the fact that they really have nothing to show.

"We have no time"? That's the funniest excuse I've ever heard. You have all the time. What else do you people have to do? Just do a quick Direct. You could have even put a teaser trailer at the end of WW.

This type of thinking is so backwards to me. And to be fair, it's not just Nintendo, Sony is guilty of it as well with the ps4. In no way is having both 3D world and Zelda on display worse than just having 3D world. The only thing that would be stealing attention from is your competitors platforms and bringing it to yours.

Uh, develop the game?

A joke post?

Maybe they wanted to focus on a game whats out in a few weeks and that one what released a few days ago. No need to hurry. Gimme a Zelda teaser for christmas and all will be fine.

I'm not talking about just this one event. They've been saying "oh, we can show Zelda but we just don't want to" since e3. They've had plenty of time to show it without getting in the way of WW or ALBW.

Nope, its Mario that Nintendo fans love most. Zelda never comes close to Mario sales.

Also, glad to hear that they are dumping motion controls for the next Zelda, hated them in SS almost as much as I hated the touch controls in the DS games.

Please tell me all of your insider knowledge about how much time these people have.

showing a next gen Zelda game would automatically obliterate any chances of a remake like WW HD to sell, since everyone would just wait for the new game

ah, now that sounds different. but between the e3 and WW it wouldn't have been wise to show the Zelda what will get a release after the remake they were working on. so when they get ALBW out of the way they can focus on Zelda Wii U and maybe it will be shown in a january direct and then we will see nothing until e3. like what they did with monolith softs X.

"Time" is normally something extremely rare in game development studios... You can never "just" show something from a work-in-progress game, even making "just" a trailer can be very time consuming, since you need to capture a game in a way that makes an unplayable mess look kind of finished.

as long as i dont end up renting items then im excited

might stock up on some jagermeister just in case i need to cry after the reveal

I'd like them to combine the sailing from Wind Waker, and the flying from Skyward Sword into one game. So, you could explore the word whilst flying or sailing, or horseback even.
