Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane is one of my favourite books. Well at least when Miyazawa was still doing the art. But I don't know what kind of inspiration they're going to take from it. Have the movie from the perspective of MJ (or someone else)? That would be really different from other comic book adaptations but I don't think that would sell to the mass market

I know she has a surname, but it's kinda rare for actors to go by just one name. It's more common in the music business.

And I don't remember any character named Michelle in Spiderman. :/
michelle gonzalez Depending on the day she wanted to kill Parker or marry him

And I wonder which would have been the bigger waste of an actor: Bryce Dallas Howard as Gwen Stacy in SM3 or Shaline Woodley as Mary Jane in ASM2? Mind you, that's with ASM3 still not getting made.

Now that this conversation has ventured into imaginary territory I don't even know what to say anymore.

With Avi Arad's grubby little trump fingers wrapped tightly around ASM2's production in a way much more significant than in ASM1, I think they probably would have been about equally wasted.

why is anyone into skateboards?

In stories, characters being into something lets us peer into who they are. It says a lot about their identity. Or it foreshadows something of significance.

So, what did Peter being into skateboards say about him in ASM? Why was it important? Or was it all just a waste of time?

I think he's just a young kid and liked skateboarding, you're overthinking it. not everything has to have meaning, he barely skateboarded in like one scene.

he used Bing in ASM1 but Google in ASM2, what does it meeeean?

Just let the poor kid ride his damn skateboard god damn.

If you must extract meaning from it, it means he was a tiny bit athletic already and had good balance. Traits that would come in useful when he got super powers and used them in ways that required exceptional balance and coordination. The brief sequence also set up a location he later used to train in (rather than skateboard in) while swinging from chains and generally being gymnastical (that's a word now).

While we're on the topic, why the fuck did Peter's hair look like that? All big and flaired out like that. What does that say about his character? What did it mean? What's he trying to prove with big hair like that? Is he trying to show off? Could this have deep existential meaning relating to his feelings of inadequacy stemming from deeper feelings of abandonment? Is Peter's hair really his father's fault? And following that line of thought, could we blame his hair on the man responsible for that, Norman Osborn?

Oh fuck, could this be related to his hair, too? The plot thickens.

No but Parker wasn't in high school very long. Despite what they would have you to believe.

This is why the whole movie is kind of a bone-headed decision. I love John Hughes. I want the movie to be good. I don't think Marvel has a clue how to make a "John Hughes movie". And I definitely don't think it'll feel fresh.

Whatever, Parker. Ock had good intentions with Aunt May and you were a fucking OVERREACTING ASSHOLE TO HIM. I'LL NEVER FORGIVE YOU, PARKER, YOU FUCKING FUCK. If he would just apply that same kind of care and advice to villains down on their luck and needing a turning point BUT NOOOO. Parker's TOO GOOD FOR THAT.

No more clones.

This is one of the main problems I had with the ASM run after the Superior Spider-Man series ended.

Peter's a jerk.

Hire whoever you want Sony. Please give me a film that equals the greatness that is Spider-Man 2. It is tragic that it has been so many years and there is yet to be a CBM action scene that comes close to the train sequence or the bank sequence.

It has been far too long for one of the greatest heroes of all time to languish in mediocrity.

Five Spider-Man movies, and they've all sucked. I expect this to be no different. One more and they'll match Star Wars streak before the franchise finally got something decent.

LOL what ? Every Star Wars movie was good though.

OT- I don't really care about Spider-Man anymore unless it concerns Miles Morales. I'm sick of this shit getting rebooted over and over. Miles Morales would've been a good change of pace.

If this is MCU related it can't be as bad. I was a huge Spidey fan and every movie was not good to me so far. I hope this is good.

Don't get me started on Peter and computers. Supposed science genius had to look up how batteries worked on Youtube.

I know you're trying to mock me for being overly critical, but wasting the audience's time with something completely pointless when they could have spent that time building up Peter's world. Peter literally had no friends in the first movie besides Gwen and Flash. (And Flash all but disappeared in ASM 2,)

They could have spent that time at least mentioning Harry Osborn, who literally appeared out of nowhere in ASM 2 after never even being mentioned in the first ASM.

Actually, if she's Liz Allan, use Mysterio for the first movie while setting up her stepbrother (if they go the Spectacular route, weave in his gambling problem). Then set up Molten Man for the sequel as something more personal.

Peter's not going to be dating Liz Allan. Liz is gonna be MJ's best friend like she was in Ultimate and Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane.

"What's that? Ock really loved Anna-Maria Marconi? He had that side to him, and even gave me back my life willingly? He grew to understand me as a person?

GUESS I'LL LEARN NOTHING FROM THIS." - Peter Parker

Fuck you, Peter Parker.

The guy did steal his life and masqueraded as both his identities for months, caused MJ to break up with him (after coming close to basically raping her), caused Felicia to hate him for life and turn back into a criminal, caused all his friends to think he's gone nuts and screwed up a bunch of his friendships. I think Peter had perfect reasons to hold a grudge, even if Ock got better towards the end. It's not like Peter's meant to be some kind of saint anyway, he's a guy who's succumb to hate and revenge quite a few times over his history.

What do you think it'll be called?

I'm hoping for THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN.

They can't go with "Amazing" in the title or just the plain SPIDER-MAN.
