If you don't buy this and you're the kind of motherfucker to be bitching about no ZOE3, then go fuck yourself.

One of the best announcements of E3 and we haven't even started. Day one! It's what made me purchase a PS2 so early on, ZOE kicked ass. Never got to play ZOE2 though, its damn expensive. It's going to be a treat to play these in HD. :)
A ZOE1 fan who never played ZOE2? You're in for the treat of all treats.

whats up with those HD collections

anyways.. ZOE2 in HD is welcome but please dual audio!!! japanese audio is so much better

ZOE2 still looks all kinds of awesome. They only need to increase the resolution of the effects, leave everything else untouched really.

Anti Aliasing never hurts either.

Really cant wait to see this in 1080p and 60FPS. The game STILL looks good even running on 480p :lol

Not sure why they are remaking one of the most niche games. This isn't going to sell squat in the US. Was it huge in Japan?
Go screw yourself sir!

Also It probably will sell decently, I mean people love those package deals even if they dont know what the game is and Z.O.E has a pretty good fanbase outside of Japan.

Oh I'm torn. I don't need these games as I have the originals and they do work on my PS3 as is, but I want to help show that this franchise can sell.

Oh hell, I'll just get it as a gift for someone.

It's not like their investment to do this is a lot of money.
*Word of mouth
*Few online ads

It'll definitely give them a profit for sure. Ico/Shadow is niche too but they are getting the HD remake treatment. I think developers realized from the God of War collection that you are guaranteed a profit doing this as long as whatever the collection is is something that GAMERS are familiar with and there's more than enough people who would pick this up to make revenue.

Plus, if it sells better than expected it could green light a ZoE3, which is the main reason I'm going to support this hands down. These games are fantastic, and if I could see a ZoE3 before this console generation is over I'd be super pleased.

Sounds like it, I wish this was hitting this Fall though. I don't want to wait till 2012, that's too damn long. ZOE was the only mech game I really, really, really liked.

I'll probably take a few days off of work (Fuck you healthcare!), have my Crown and Coke ready, and give my fiancee something to do so I can (kinda) feel like a otaku.

I haven't done that since Kirby Epic Yarn. I know, odd tastes, right? I digress though.

SO apparently

http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/06/03/kojima_qa/

This meams we get all the new content from the special edition which we never got in the US! New Orbital Frames, difficulty modes, graphical and performance improvements, etc!

Now those of you who already own regular ZoE2 have a reason to buy the HD collection! :D

Updated OP with this info.

As if I wasn't blowing enough of a load. Fuck yes. Now I can cave and play through ZoE2 during this long wait and not feel too bad. Fucking new content, yes. Yesyesyesyes.

I am all over this. Have the Anubis edition, but for a graphical update AND playability on the PS3 I am totally having this. Better be an EU release.

This is perfect. I loved the idea of ZOE, but I wouldn't play it because it looked outdated. THANK YOU GODS
The fuck? ZOE2 is basically the pinnacle of PS2 visuals and it controls like a dream.

You could not find a less dated last-gen game if you tried.

Technically you can. Wind Waker.

But yes, ZOE2 was amazing. Really looking forward to this HD collection

It was largely thanks to its art direction. It knew its shortcomings and made up for it by going the highly stylized route with cell shading and simple, flat textures. It worked very well. The pinnacle of PS2 visuals, IMO, was Snake Eater/Subsistence. It still wows me to do this day what they could accomplish on the PS2.

Oh, well I was talking about ZOE. Didn't know ZOE2 was that good looking. But I'll wait for the HD collection anyways.

Haha. I never played Silent Hill 3 on the PS2. Only on the PC (and it wowed me there so I guess it was mind blowing on the PS2 as well?).

That was mostly as a joke and I don't use that gif a lot, but yes, SH3 looks really good on the PS2.

Kojima talking about Trophies and no mentions of MGS4!!!!!!!!!

FFFFFFFUUUUUUu

I think it must be a running joke at Kojima Productions. I can just imagine Kojima sitting at his computer, slowly smirking every time he gets an email or reads a post about trophies.

To those of you who played ZoE, how does it stand up overall? I will be picking this up regardless, but I am curious if there is any game that is analogous in terms of gameplay.

Ico HD? Shadow of the Colossus HD? MGS 2, 3 and Peacewalker HD? Monster Hunter 3 HD? I might as well just take out that second mortgage now.

Now we just need FFXII hd release

ZoE2 is AWESOME. My favourite game. Though I am somewhat biased to robots and stories of epic proportions. Gameplay, it feels like a watered down DMC with 'flying' involved. That's controlled with 2d motion and ascend, descent buttons (analogue, not digital). To be honest, the combat is pretty basic, it's what you make of it because you have a huge arsenal of secondary weapons.

This is awesome, but I have a general question:

I thought we only saw these PS2 HD ports on the PS3, because Sony provides some SDK or whatever to make the porting process quite easy.

Obviously it makes much more sense to release those collections on both PS3&360 as Xbox-onlys missed out on these franchises and you want to strengthen the IP for games you want to release on both platforms in the future.

But to me it doesn't make sense why all the (disc-release?) HD collections were PS3-only so far - even the PC version ports of Splinter Cell.

Also, the simultaneously announced Silent Hill HD Collection is still PS3 only. (and there is even a Xbox1 version of SH2).
I guess it all depends on the original contract of the PS2 license, in some cases they wanted an option to release the game on another (non-sony) platform?

ZoE1? It was a decent game for its time, but ZoE2 is still to this day the best action game of all time IMO. That game did mech gameplay like no one ever had before. The combat system is very fast and fluid and gives you many items/weapons to mess around with. It's not really a combo centric game like DMC so I don't feel that is a valid comparison.

The pacing and design of the levels/scenario writing is some of the best I've experienced. I never once felt that a level dragged on for too long. The game always keeps you on the edge of your seat. The boss fights are VERY memorable and challenging. Music and graphics are amazing also.

Some of the cons would be the weak story and performance issues. Also, the enemy variety was lacking!

Holy shit, totally unexpected!!

I was so close to rebuying ZoE 1 & 2 last month as well, glad I waited a while :)
