I'd just like to say that ordered my Freeloader from Divineo on Friday at 4.10pm (past the time they send out orders for the day) and it arrived today at 10.30am. Fantastic service I can't recommend them highly enough (and I went for the cheaper delivery service).

^where do you live?

Dascu, it's not your tv.

When I try to play it on my old-as-fuck tv in 50hz, I get the black & white picture + picture violently waggling up&down (making it unplayable cause it feels like there's been a triple duplication of the top of the screen and only when navigating the menus and you try to click a button you're like "omg which one is the real one"). Also, in french.

So I assume the problem comes from something else.

Edit : for the wiki people, feel free to use my list all you want as long as you link to it properly.

My black&white issue is on my old SDTV. I haven't tried it on the Bravia yet, but I assume the picture should be OK on that one.

I got mine in the mail and thankfully it is the right one and it works with my few gamecube imports. Whenever my copy of Gundam arrives in the mail, I will try that out.

Anyone try to play a JP copy of Mr. Driller Drill Land (GC) on a NA Wii?

That's all I really want. To be able to play Drill Land without having to hook up the GameCube.

VOOK

We don't know why he keeps buying PAL, either.
I'd consider hosting a Freeloader Wiki, but last time I did someone spammed it up with Gay and Scat Porn.... so yeah not too keen on it. Unless someone knows how to stop that sort of thing happening.

I've got the hosting and can install one in about 10 seconds, just up to someone to run it I suppose, I don't have the time.

I made one here: http://freeloader.wikidot.com

Just testing really, so its pretty incomplete and I'm the only one who can edit it. I've found alot of forums with people testing the FreeLoader so I got a lot to add. I think I might just open the wiki up and see what happens. Hopefully people wanna add stuff, but spamers keep out

Edit: Just hit 100 games added. Hope this doesn't violate their terms and the site gets deleted though

A guy I know reported that he's getting a black screen when booting Naruto GNT EX (note, not 2) on both methods, so I guess this game has been confirmed to not work on PAL Wii with the Freeloader.

A friend is getting a black screen on trying to boot Bleach Wii (JP version using PAL Freeloader on PAL Wii). He tried both boot methods too. As far as I know that's the only game he's tried though.

I had a black screen on NMH, but then I changed my language settings to English. Perhaps he should try setting it to English or Japanese (if that's an option).

So I got my copy of the freeloader yesterday and I managed to launch brawl. But today I can't get my wii to launch the game, the freeloader does its thing then I insert my brawl disc and the DVD player clicks like maybe three times but it doesn't spin.
Anyone else got that problem ?

So in the end that Black/White problem is only with RGB or CRT TVs?
Anyone that had the same problem with an LCD or Component.

And, on another note, anyone that had problems launching US No More Heroes on a PAL Wii?

The black/white thing happens when your SDTV, using standard composite, is unable to properly handle the NTSC 60hz signal (like mine =( ). Using an RGB cable gives a red tint (even for the modern TVs, I think). So, unless you got a modern TV with NTSC 60hz support, you're fucked (like me =( ).

I had problems launching US NMH on my PAL Wii, but it loaded up just fine after I changed the language setting to English. Black and white though (see above).

How can you see if your TV supports that?
Any options or... dunno, something to try?
I played NTSC Animal Crossing with the Gamecube Freeloader on a PAL Gamecube back in the days, if that means anything.
But the TV i use now is a LCD HDTV + Component cable, so...

I just got my US Freeloader. I think I ordered about a week ago, so shipping was fairly fast.

Popped it in while the machine was off, and when the regular warning screen came up, some of the graphics blurred in and out for a few seconds. After that, went to the disc channel and it said unknown disc. Popped it out, put in Nintendo Puzzle Collection (JP) for GC, and it recognized it as a GC game. Started it up, and there were absolutely no problems. Nice.

So Nintendo Puzzle Collection (JP) for GC is confirmed to work for US Wii. I think I got rid of my NGT4 a while ago, so if anyone wants me to test anything else, feel free to send your games my way :p.

I'll let you know if I import anything else... I should look for an import only wii game...

Nice. Skies of Arcadia gets the green light then. Looking through the GC list, it seems that all the rare games (in PAL land at least) work and the common games don't. Fire Emblem, Tales of Symphonia, Baten Kaitos, etc, all work. Mario Kart, Sunshine, Party, TTYD, all don't work, but they're also games that aren't too hard to still find.

I guess I'll be trying to track down NTSC copies of ToS and FE: PoR then, rather than watching the PAL versions constantly go for AU$100+ on Ebay. Anyone know any good sources?

eBay UK and Amazon UK sure is expensive when it comes to PAL games, pretty insane compared to their us counter part. Along with eBay and amazon, you could check
videogamesplus.ca

Theres one problem that might occure with gamecube games though. Seems some people reported a couple of games (Mario Golf, F-Zero) as working fine, while another guy reported that they worked fine initially, but then crashed on a spesific course. No idea if they crash on in same place every time though, neither if its the disc/user/wii system... Time will tell I guess

The only 'problem' I've had is the game continually asks for your pin code on launch because the PAL Wii's don't have a setting to recognise 'Mature' rated games - even though I have set my Wii so accept ALL games.

woobit, you can add Endless Ocean US to the PAL list.
I can confirm that this works.

Any news on Bully US with PAL Wii compatibility? I want to save 12€, but I'd like to be sure I'm not wasting 38... Thanks.

The GameCube Freeloader changed the NTSC signal into a PAL signal. I'm annoyed the Wii Freeloader doesn't do the same. Your LCD HDTV should work fine, I think. It's old SDTVs that have trouble with the NTSC signal.

Good job.

Here's my submission from last page:

Ok, both games were tested on a PAL Wii (connected via RGB to a PAL SDTV).

GCN Killer7 JPN: screen goes black, nothing happens.
GCN PN03 JPN: works fine.

Does it still do it when working in GCN mode?

I have tried several games with my Euro Wii and Wii freeloader.
Don't work
----------------
JPN Super Star Soldier
JPN Winning Eleven
US Alien Hominid

Work fine
-------------
US Baten Kaitos

Works-ish
------------
US Mario Golf - crashes when gameplay starts
US ToS - Runs fully but has weird graphical glitches, like a shadowing/tearing effect a lot of the time.
I'm using a 42" Panny Plasma and tried COmponent, SCART and Wii settings of 576i, 480i and 480p - No difference in behaviour.

Anyone have any experience of the Tales of Symphonia problem?

I just thought that is the "RGB not working with NTSC-games" just a Nintendo thing? I mean I've played imported ps1-games with RGB-cabel for years.

Well, just tried it with NMH and it doesn't work.
After starting the gaming, all I get is a black screen. Tried both boot methods.

-edit-
Should have read some previous posts. After changing the language settings from "dutch" to "english" it works! :D

You might have the same problem as Dascu.

Try changing your language settings to English (yeah that's weird, I know).

Edit : wowbeaten.

Which raises a question : Dascu, what was your Wii's original language ?

I was wondering "why do they have to change their language settings to English while I can play it in french" but maybe the game doesn't load if your Wii is in a language that isn't on the disc.

I heard it is possible to play with RGB and freeloader on a PAL Wii.

I just tested mine and got the same problem with the same game. I thought it might have been the TV. Skies of Arcadia Legends works fine. Any idea if the black bar is fixable?

Kandrick

GAF's Ed McMahon
Just ordered the Freeloader + SSBB.

Cant wait.

Just noticed that RE4 GC US works on pal wii, i finally will be able to play it again without plugging my GC :D

Dutch, like Aurelius. However, I am from Belgian, and not from that hellhole known as "Holland" or in its more sinister name "The Netherlands".

Edit: Update on my situation: I decided to just buy a new LCD TV. Works like a charm now. :) I'll try to get some nice component cables though.

PAL wii + RGB SCART leads + Kororinpa = everything is red :(
Such a great game though. ended up playing far more than I initially intended to. I just wanted to see if it'd run. Bam, two hours later. :lol

On to my US gamecube games...

PN03 works (with some audio glitching in the opening cutscene),
BG&E works (slight graphics errors),
PSO Ep1&2 works (black bar below),
Metroid Prime 1 works (main menue background doesn't show, only the white text),
Puyo Pop Fever works flawlessly,
FF:Crystal Chronicles works (black bar below)

Zelda TWW doesn't want to work. Nooooooooooooooooo!
Super Monkey Ball 2 doesn't work ("created by AV"+opening jingle plays, then screen fades and stays black)

If I have some more time I'll try BK&BK:O.

I made an error with my test results - 牧場物語Oh!ワンダフルライフ is actually the name of the Ps2 game. The game that works is 牧場物語ワンダフルライフ for ガール (Jp: Bokujou Monogatari Wonderful Life for Girl / En: Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life). My bad, sorry.
