Let's see if I can beat Streets in speed (though definitely not quatliy)

Investigative Report: The Charged Shot is a weapon that can send ink flying from a distance. You can aim and shoot at a target or paint stuff in a straight line. It's not just for attacking, but also for making a path for your buddies! Inkling tools are pretty useful!

Not exactly new info, but good vocab practice for me/

You're pretty spot on :) Nice pic, but nothing really new.

Wish they'd show some more of the single-player stuff.

Sorry for the double post, but now there is also an English Facebook page. Better to follow than the tumblr (at list for me).

Ummm... It's valentines day tomorrow, so here's a card from the squid research institute. They wonder if in the squid world they exchange chocolates if they like someone (I think). Something about not knowing whether squids even eat chocolate.

Best I can do on my phone.

There seems to be a fairly good assortment of weaponry/gadgets with a player able to equip up to 3 things. So far, there's the standard paint gun, sniper rifle, bazooka, paint brush, ink roller brush, proximity bomb, charged gun shot, ink shield, rocket bomb and an ink balloon grenade.

bad Google translation:
"Tomorrow is Valentine's Day.
As modest gifts from squid Institute, is trying to deliver a single card.
I wonder if there is a habit to pass the chocolate to the opposite sex that favor in the world of squid?
The first place, but I do not know even whether to eat the chocolate ......"

I say you probably did pretty decent.

"Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day! We at Squid Research Lab have an important research question to ask you: Will you be our valentine? No pressure to say yes, but we got you this really sweet and expensive card.

Hmm… I wonder if Inklings give sweets to each other on Valentine’s Day. Do you think they like chocolate-covered shrimp?"

"Squid Research Special Report:
Our findings indicate that Charger weapons are capable of firing blasts of ink over long distances. They can be used to snipe distant targets, but they also leave long trails of ink on the ground, making them useful for quickly creating ink paths for allies to swim through.

"This is Judd. He’s a cat, if you can’t tell. Long shrouded in mystery, details about Judd are just now beginning to trickle in. Firstly, we can confirm that he’s (probably) not a dog. Also, Judd was born with the incredible ability to judge turf area at a glance to separate the winners from the losers. And it may look like he’s wearing a snazzy cat tuxedo, but that’s actually just the naturally occuring pattern of his fur. Some cats have all the luck."

well apparently those squids like shrimp too, sometime i wonder if the dev team knows....

As IRL squids have a varied diet of fishes, crustacean (including shrimps), and also... other squids (now let not think of this too much shall we?).

From the looks of it, Famitsu is planning to have new info about Splatoon every 2 weeks.

This week, they'll focus on differences between human/squid forms. Also, fan-arts to be published in the magazine.

An investigative report from the Squid Research Institute.

In one corner of the plaza, there's a manhole... it seems to be the entrance point to hero mode "Octopus Pot Ballet/Volley" [this is a pun of some kind, I think], the connective path.

You might think it's a very lonely-looking place, but a "hero" always stands alone, you see?

His name is Commander Atarime.

He was a hero of the great Turf War between the Inklings and the Octopi. He's keeping an eye out to stop the Octopi making mischief. He might look a bit tattered, but his sharp gaze hasn't withered.

...well, that's what he says, anyway.

Hmm... best I can do. Sorry, a lot of unfamiliar words and grammar there, basically trying to piece together what I can. Wait for the Streets translation

That is such a neat way to add utility to the otherwise specialist sniper rifle.

May I have a cookie?
I'm liking what I hear about this game a lot!

A lot of modern shooters are: "reach the objective to shoot it"

Splatoon is: "shoot the objective to reach it"

Translations of tumblr are in!

First pic:

It’s time for another hot info nugget from Squid Research labs! The manhole you’ll find tucked in a corner of the plaza has been confirmed to lead to Octo Valley, the location of our campaign against the Octarian threat. It may be a lonely and desolate place, but such is the path a hero walks…

And for the artwork:

This unreasonably attractive gentleman goes by the name of Cap’n Cuttlefish. He’s a decorated hero who fought in the Great Turf Wars of legend between the Inklings and Octarians. He now keeps solemn vigil over Octo Valley, watching for any fishy behavior. Though his clothes may be tattered, his heart is pure and nothing escapes his razor-sharp gaze. He also TOTALLY didn’t write this post.

I was just thinking about a Limited Edition. And then the Scarf came into my mind.

Maybe this could be bundled with the game just like Hyrule Warriors was?

What about this stickers?

If a Limited Edition does get made for this, I would do anything for it to include an artbook. Some of these drawings on the twitter account and tumblr are fantastic.

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own

Graphics looking good! That lighting reminds me of MK8. The team must be using the same engine wich is great cuz MK8 visuals are impressive <3. Can't wait for the inevitable Splatoon Direct.

Man, I wish Nintendo dev teams would apply some sort of AA to their games, even if it has to be the smeary FXAA. I know i'm being picky because I know this game doesn't necessarily need that, but Nintendo please...

Other than that, can't wait to pick this one up!

Based on the picture you linked, it's seems like they used pretty much the same selective AA approach as in 3D World and Captain Toad?

Mad shake attack yo. We've only seen the roller before right? Sounds like it has an AOE or a ranged burst attack or something

Doing some scan translations:

Controls
Left Stick - Movement
ZL - 'Squid' (only while pushed)
Gyro Sensor (Aim - can be turned off)
Right Stick - Look left & right. Push in for Special Weapon.
R - Sub Weapon
ZR - Ink Shot
X - Jump
Y - Camera Reset

-Squid form is faster than human form, but can't move outside of ink.
-Jump is more or less the same for both human and squid forms, but while moving through your own color ink, you can jump further. Can reach places you can't in human form - places that might prove vital in winning.
-Rest is a general Famitsu play impression and fan art.
-More in the March 5th edition of Famitsu on the Octarians.

Is this game similar to Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare? (i.e. online 3rd person shooter, different class with different abilities, different game modes, etc)

I'll definitely do some research on the game on my own, but I wanted to ask good guy GAF first. I absolutely adored PvZ, so I have hopes this game will be in the same vein.

There are no different classes. You select your load out (1 regular, 1 sub and 1 special weapon) before matches and wear clothes that has specific attributes. As you level up and raise your "coolness" you can buy more weapons and clothes from shops. The selection at stores changes daily.
