In terms of game footage, I've seen enough. I am curious about what they do talk about though. That last art panel was a cool idea.

Yeah. I'm going to watch it just to see if we get to hear any more of the English dub. I'm hoping the combat dialogue is in English, but there's a chance it could just be the same build of the game from PAX. We'll see.

I'll be watching to make sure they kept the lyrics in the OST. Will be extremely disappointed if they remove them, though I doubt they would remove them.

Great to see the continued push of Xenoblade X. I guess Nintendo really doesn't have much choice now with the delay of Star Fox.

While we're on the topic of EGX, I thought I'd share some of the impressions from people who had a chance to play the game while they were there.

We just finished trying out Xenoblade Chronicles X, was really enjoyable! #EGX

In more positive Nintendo chat, Xenoblade Chronicles X was very impressive. I came away from my hands-on thinking that I had something on the ‘must-buy’ list for this Christmas period. I’ll be aiming to get some more words on this in the coming weeks, but safe to say, it is looking set to be another exceptional Wii U game.

Wow, just played Xenoblade Chronicles X over at Nintendo and it was a highlight of the show. Really looking forward to it. #EGX

Got to play this at EGX and i am incredibly sold! The game is absolutely massive and such a spectacle. Gave it my game of the show to be honest.
The rep wanted me to fight some enemies but i was more interested in just exploration so, he showed me a couple of things on the map. Each continent of the map is split into several hexagonal segments, that act as a location and fast travel point. He asked me to run from one corner of the hexagon to the opposite and it took me about 5 minutes of sprinting. Then he zoomed the map out and showed the central continent was about 18 hexagon pieces and then zoomed out further to show that it was just one continent of about 6. Holy cow!

Xenoblade Chronicles X was seriously awesome. Can't wait to sit down with that in December

Xenoblade X and Fast Racing Neo. Both fantastic to play. Can't wait for December.

Xenoblade chronicles blew me away at @EGX yesterday, cannot wait to fly Mechs round the beautiful landscape

I'll update this if I come across any more.

I got to play it yesterday and I thought the game was visually impressive for a Wii U game with a great sense of scale (but we already knew that). The divisive looking faces aren't noticeable in combat as the camera is kind of zoomed out. If you enjoyed the battle system in the first game you will likely enjoy this too, although I couldn't notice any major improvements as such (it was a relatively short session and it's been years since I played the original). There was no audio with the demo which was disappointing as I wanted to hear the music and battle chatter. Overall I'm pretty excited but somewhat apprehensive given the criticisms the story has received from those that imported.

The demo also didn't include mechs so I can't say anything about that but given the huge world I think it will be fun to roam around in them.

Criticisms of the story itself or just in the way it's told?

From what I gather, its just lesser of a story than the first game. I heard its good, but this game just has less story overall.

But if you liked the first game, then you should like this game.

Are you sure it has less story, though? The main story arc is shorter, but there's also the Kizuna and Normal quests that provide even more story.

I've tried to avoid spoilers but I think that the main criticisms are what can also be levelled at MGSV for its poor pacing (nothing content related, as far as i know). I also get the impression that the player created character is far less interesting than Shulk. I'm not trying to party poop the thread, as the game looks like it's going to have some amazing places to explore just like its predecessor. It would be a shame for me if its true though, as I actually really liked the story in the first game.

Cross is not a pre-defined character like Shulk, though, he's a mute, customisable avatar created by the player, so it's a bit unfair to compare him/her to Shulk, don't you think? Both games are structured completely differently to one another. I think instead of treating X like it's Xenoblade 2.0, people should try and treat the game as a whole new yarn in its own right, because it is.

There's definitely less story focus on this gane, it approaches character development through the Kizuna quests and the ending leaves some plot threads open.

Is there really less focus on story, though? Or does it just feel that way because it's not all fed to you through the main story and is seperated by longer stretches of gameplay?

It is and it isn't. They called it Xenoblade Chronicles X so drawing comparisons to the previous game is inevitable and reasonable, unlike say comparing it to Xenosaga. To change certain elements that people praised about the original is risky and likely to be contentious amongst fans of it. That's not to say it will be good or bad, as I don't know yet. I do know that personally I find silent protagonists boring albeit not game ruining (Chrono Trigger and Persona are some of my favourite games), but as a point of comparison it's something I already prefer about the original and I don't think it's unreasonable to make those value judgements just because it's a different game.

I'm not writing the game off but I can see that some of things people have criticised it for so far are likely going to be things that I also dislike about it. There mig be many others that I actually prefer, but I'll have to wait and see.

Isn't that exactly what less focus on story is?

Well, I'm not sure I agree that it has less focus on story. You could say Xenoblade doesn't have a large focus on story, either, just because you'll be exploring and completing quests/building your affinity with NPCs a lot of the time. You'll also be doing all that in X, only now there's story-focused Kizuna and Normal quests which you'll spent a lot of your time completing which also makes up for the shorter main story. So really, doesn't X have the same amount of focus on story as Xenoblade, just experienced in a different way?

The battle voices are definitely in English in that video. From what I can hear (wish they had the game audio louder) it's sounding pretty good! Man, after hearing it in Japanese for so long, it's real nice to finally have English audio and text.
