I wonder how this is still a yearly series, does it sell decently enough to justify the cost?

I am sure consumers will be curious about the plot this time...

To be honest, I was one of those, and I'm actually quite shocked. It *really* didn't look like it was going to go that way. Usually it's... more upfront about it.

It doesn't sell particularly well and it's been on a downward slope since its revival with Medabots 7 on 3DS. This one might sell better than 9 but that isn't saying much.

That is like saying Snakes on a Plane got more recognition because it got Samuel L Jackson screaming about motherfucking snakes. Sure, everyone will point and talk about it, but no one is buying tickets except the morbidly curious.

Except we aren't being offered tickets in the first place for Medabots.

I mean, I can express annoyance about all this, but the past several games never made it out of Japan. I can't be bothered to complain when they're not even after our money in the first place. It was reborn in Japan only, and it'll die Japan only. I can't be bothered.

I wonder if they're being forced to reconsider the possibility of an international release just to survive. Natsume may not be interested in this incarnation of Medabots but I don't doubt some other publisher would be.

Would it work out for them though? I mean at best, they would only have the recent release of the VC GBA games to gauge interest on, and it might not be enough to consider the overall costs of localizing the games. There's no anime reboot to help it out, and even then, at best it'll garner the attention of people who knew what it was in their childhood.

hmm. The fact that these games were given a cero C instead of a cero D like for Senran Kagura tells me that these clothes ripping scenes are either sparse or not that revealing.

They might be trying to aim for a cross between the "young shounen" demographic and the fanservice demographic to boost sales.

So I don't know, makes sense to try and take your already tiny niche, and see if maybe there's a somewhat larger niche of girls who would like to play Poke-bots. There's already lots of girls who play Pokemon so the idea doesn't seem far fetched to me at all.
There's no string bikinis, there's no exposed skin outside of like short sleeves, there's... nothing. There's literally nothing objectionable here. There are no hilariously oversized boobs, there's actually a pretty wide spread of sizes tbqh, there's literally nothing about this that can possibly be offensive, unless you are literally going off of the metric of "anime+girl = pedo".

Medabots has been dead as fuck for years and the games keep tanking so they might as well.

Conversely, this is the most interested I've ever been in Medabots. Which is like a 2/10 on my interest scale.

Edit: I really can't say I'm surprised this game is going this route, honestly. I don't have a problem with lewd in games, but forcing it just to see how it changes sales (I'm assuming) is pretty meh. Atleast they're trying something different though.

You know, I wonder if this would be the fate of other kid series for company's going through a rough patch and/or need a last resort. Like, think of a world where Nintendo somehow hit rock bottom financially and needed to go after the otaku money with Pokemon. Would they make something like a high-budget Moemon?

I figured some changes were being made when I noticed it was being targeted to teens. All the games had received CERO A ratings, with the exception of a recent one with a B rating. This is the first Medabot game in a black box.

It's just desperate and disappointing imo.

Have you not seen Fire Emblem Awakening? It may not be as explicitly desperate as this game but the general approach is the same... I mean, there's even swimsuit DLC.
