The Japanese firm is hosting an invite-only event in San Francisco on 15 March, which is likely to feature the official launch of Sony's PlayStation VR, previously codenamed Project Morpheus.
The invitation is also in line with Sony's promise that its VR headset would go on sale in the 'first half of 2016' when its official name was revealed last September.
The event will be followed by 'hands-on' demos, suggesting there will be some new hardware on display for attendees to try out.

As far as we know, the PlayStation VR has a head-mounted display with 1080p HD resolution and a 90-degree field of view, while sensors built into the headset track head movements.
There's no official word on how much PlayStation VR will cost.
However, earlier this year, a listing on Amazon's Canada site appearing to have been posted by accident revealed the headset will cost $1,125 CAD, which converts to $800 USD or £770.

Lol at the "rumours" regarding the price.

Launch?

Edit: Ok. More like kick of campaign rather than release. Not sure if I'm believing this source.

$800? That's hard to believe if they're selling at cost and the thing has less aggressive specs than the Rift/Vive

I'm pretty sure that by "launch" they mean "announce the release date and price" and not "sell the PS VR right after the event."

This would be the biggest fail ever, we will probably get release date info, but I highly doubt they'll just launch it out of the blue like that.

Not buying it. As in not buying this rumor. If the PSVR was out there in the manufacturing world, how has news of that not leaked?

Lol yeah right. Launch a hardware with no games is such a great idea, Daily Mail!

It's set to announce the launch next week. That's the correct term here.

And $800? LOL! Did Oculus or HTC paid them for this slender?

Yeah... no.

Also, if this thing gets announced at $800 hang on tight because the GAF servers are going to melt down.

It's gonna be 299 to 399 dollars like all VR headsets with similar specs. Oculus DK2, OSVR, that chinese DK2 clone... PSVR is targetting these specs. So it's not surprising it'll cost the same.
