Early first week leak by the usual source:

Yakuza 4: 392,000 (compared to 357,00 for Yakuza 3)

Gundam Battle assault: 92,000

Pokemon Ranger: Tracks of Light: 47,000

Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce 2 16,000

Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! 3D : 16,000

Hakuouki (Koei): 16,000

So Yakuza 4's 392,000 is the third best first-week ever on PS3 following FF13 (1.5m) and MGS4 (476,000). FF13's heavy front is really stunning.

If people are actively avoiding buying Product A because they want Product B, I'm not sure Product C is going to get much benefit.

Product C it´s not backward compatible with Product A. And Product C has a new Monster Hunter.

In any case, I don't expect and immediate effect now (but we could see it in some months, I don't discard it).

Anyway, I am sure Sony will make his move this year too, so I guess we will be seeing PSP2 soon and we will see a brand new handheld fight.

Famitsu Top Ten

1. [PS3] Yakuza 4 (Sega)
2. [PSP] Gundam: Assault Survive (Namco Bandai)

3. [NDS] Pokemon Ranger: Miracle of Light (Pokemon)
4. [NDS] Friend Collection (Nintendo)
5. [Wii] New Super Mario Bros Wii (Nintendo)
6. [Wii] Wii Fit Plus (Nintendo)
7. [PSP] Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce 2 (Koei)
8. [PSP] Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! 3D (SCE)
9. [NDS] Hakukoi DS (Idea Factory)
10. [PSP] God Eater (Namco Bandai)

God eater has some nice legs.

Man, Hakuouki has really turned into Idea Factory major franchise. Will do some comparisons when we get proper numbers but DS one seems to have done like the latest PS2-PSP entries and they have two more scheduled already (PSP in May, PS3 in June). If anyone is wondering its the typical dating ADV but female oriented, also known as 'OMG THEY ARE ALL SO PREEEETTY' stuff.

I'm a little surprised at RGG4's sales. Usually the first iteration on the console sells more, also this one comes just one year after the last. I guess it's a franchise STILL on the rise, also wondering if PS3 slim sales have anything to do with it.

Final LTD could be higher, yes, but it's usually the case that further iterations on the same console of a popular franchise would sell more the first week.

I don't think we should be thinking about a FFXIII budget release so soon. First they need to do an International release in Japan, and how successful that is will depend on how much new content there is in it. FFXII International did very poorly because there was basically no real new content aside from the gameplay system tweaks. FFX International, FFX-2 International and the KH Final Mix games do very, very well because they actually have a ton of new content and extra stuff not found in the original version nor in the US versions.

They're probably going to "cancel" the rumored DLC dungeon and put it in the International release instead. I mean, it worked for RE5...

not shocked at Yakuza 4 sales.

FotNS may not reach 300,000 but it will sell.

God of War III might go between 30,000 and 70,000 ill be stunned if it got to over 100,000.
