PAL Charts - Week 31, 2011

That said it's still only a few thousand units and I'm sure it will drop like a stone rapidly.
really doubt it going out of top 10 next week, it has shortage; though in the end it'll probably end up selling 60-100K in Europe.

If it has similar debuts across Europe it might not be far off the bottom end of that already

if we get UK number and it is around like 15K, I would say it is definitely at the bottom end as you say, it'll probably debut at top 3 in France and top 5 in Germany as well. But I don't expect it too have much leg, maybe for two other weeks.

Dirt 3 sold 5.5k this week (90%) at 8th in All Formats, Xenoblade was one place ahead in 7th.

Week 32 was lowest week for both value and units since 2001.

Only 4 PS3 games there. And Nintendomination. The fuck!

Great result for Xenoblade, hope it has legs. I'm certainly buying a Wii for it!

Abysmal week for software sales. It's still summer, people are not buying games.
Btw PS3 hardware sales were up by 65%.
With the end of the summer, a new marketing campaign starting today and the resume of the release schedule (Deux Ex, Resistance 3) sales are expected to go up even further.

What a pathetic numbers. Wasn't summer made to be played with Video games. The Premier League is off during the summer for gods sake.

I was going to say it's because everyones having fun in the sun... But we've had fairly pathetic weather overall this summer, so that can't be it...

I'm really not surprised. Between Homefront, Pilotwings Resort, Killzone 3 etc. pretty much everything released this year is total shit.

Jesus.

Don't worry everyone, Deus Ex will save us from this summer of mediocrity and terrible sales.

...I hope.

UK consumer spending is really in the doldrums at the moment. Add in the usual summer lull in game sales and it's no surprise that numbers are bad.

August is always a weak month for sales overall, combine that with the slump in consumer spending in general and there you go. Still doesn't change the fact that Xenoblade has done well.

We have reports of sellouts on various online stores, with Nintendo already preparing a 2nd shipment (shopto, Game.co.uk), so it's clearly selling above expectations. It should sell through its first shipment with ease - thus justifying its (not insignificant) localisation costs.

Didn't Reggie say something about how they are going to watch European sales in order to determine whether or not it will get North American release? If so this is very good news.

That it sold less than 6k units?

No, it really isn't.

I doubt it even debuting at number 1.
My guesses are: 1. too many games sold this gen in general with strong focus on multiplayer that offer a lot of gameplay 2. everyone saving their moneys for big hitters 4th quarter

I'm thinking it's going to pull a Bioshock. The reviews are off the charts, and the PC leak only helped. The only real obstacle it has is no console demo.

And Xenoblade at No 3?! FUCK YES!!!

I bet the guys at NOE are laughing their heads off at NOA right now.

"WHATA BUNCH OF JOKAHS!!!"

After seeing the numbers, i don't think NOE will have much to laugh about. Especially since this kind of game is frontloaded, and the UK is supposed to be the biggest EU market.

let's hope so, but don't forget that Bioshock was a very modernized and mainstreamlined game, it wasn't nearly anything like System Shock or Deus Ex, so it gained public attention.

UK being the biggest EU market doesn't mean every game sells most there.

Wow at Xenoblade, one day of sales and it still landed on the third spot. Prepare for number uno next week! :D

And even more applause for american (or brazilian, in my case) gamers who imported Xenoblade Chronicles. :)

Sales of Xenoblade will be mostly done in France and Germany (and maybe Benelux?). Just like Mh Tri. The market for Wii games without some kind of dancing in it has been meh for a little while.

This.
Monster Hunter 3 sold at least 100k in Germany alone, which is a smaller market than UK (even if not too small).
I do think Xenoblade will perform extremely well in France, the country where Dragon Quest IX had been staying at number 1 for 4 weeks.

Xenoblade Chronicles doing that good in Germany is surprising. I've yet to see any adverts.
