Forza 5 Showroom | New cars and details for Forza 5, ongoing reveals

hey fordy why are the exhausts blacked out on the gameplay eh? weird huh!

Are you referring to the mesh on the back of the car?

It's blacked out because they decided to save some power by not having to render that part of the model which is pretty obvious. Like I said above, what you can see and what is being rendered is the same model-wise as the autovista version.

So my highlighting of your inaccurate claims used to undermine the position of another member who is - by the way - accurate in his claims, is considered trolling? You know, "accuracy"?

Good, thank you for clarifying.

Inaccurate claims? Right.

So you basically proved what? That the entire model isn't being rendered in-game?(Something we of course already knew.)

How exactly does that keep the rest of the model from being the same as the auto-vista version?

Yeah they're probably using tesselation in-game, it would be a waste of resources to get full LOD all the time.
Anyway, I only care about how cockpit view and replays look, third-person view could look like Virtua Racing for all I care.

Yeah, I couldn't care less what the car looks like whilst driving. The replays and photomode better be uh..better this time around. GT is still king in that regard...

thats what lods are..different levels of detail from the same model, and as before in previous forzas, gameplay models arent as detailed as menu models

We have a winner!

It's the same model, different LoDs like I said before. Forza 4 literally had different models for Autovista, menus and gameplay Forza 5 does not.

Inaccurate claims? Right.

I really like you man, I do. You are a nice guy who is extremely passionate about his position and you have my full respect for that.

But we will always and forever argue about semantics. It started with you claim that RUF is Porsche and since then I just can't let it go. Same with this.

Semantics. It is not the same model. It is the same "model" as "model foundation", aka "model wireframe" aka "model base". But in the execution, it is not the same model, period. It would be the same if you tried to argue how Photomode models from this-gen are the same models as in the gameplay. They are not. They have different LOD status from shaders, textures to the actual details, thus leading to overall changes in the "model". It is not the same model in analogy direction Xanadu presented (Xanadu, why do you always have to stir something man?? :))).

Semantics. But nevermind, it is useless to waste any more time with this arguing, we are both right.

I can't wait to see the proper replay footage of 16 cars on Yas Marina.

EDIT: Damn you for posting that picture, that and Driveclub delay will make my XboxOne denial damn hard.

I'm sorry but I'll argue with you till the end of the Earth on the RUF thing. :p

autovista was bullshit. this is more like forza 3 where there are 2 different models..one for menu and one for gameplay, remember when you said that was a lie too? good times we had on FC!

now here's the point:

if it looks as good as this looks, it's good enough for me
is it good enough for you? (for everyone of us)
the rest is bullshit.

Ingame models should be the same as Av, minus, obviously, engine, trunk, and all those parts that are generally hidden behind / underneath a door/hood

but... if its anything like previous forza, that pre/post race model is also more detailed then the actual race one. i know turn10 has said in race they dont change lod, but i'll believe that when i see it.

Must be nothing worth talking about...lol

LOD is normal in all racing games.

Why in the world are we arguing over something so stupid? We should all know how it works.

Now to see if there has been any news since I posted those gifs.

badned's "its gunna be a gud week" quote has haunted me all week. coupled with last weeks "week in review" comment, i expected big things. friday (t10, badned), dont let me down!

Sure, it's common sense that LOD happens in racing games - there'd be no point in distant cars being rendered with the same detail as Autovista. The real question is whether LOD changes are noticeable in Forza 5, and how it all works. Do you ever see Autovista quality models in-game (if you're really close to a car, for example)? Are the jumps between the LOD stages visible?

Unless there's some kind of fancy procedural way of gradually changing LODs in real time, I imagine the technique could end up being a lot more noticeable at 1080p than in a sub-720p current gen-game. But then I'm not technical.

I guess we're only going to know when we have the game ourselves!

I called in sick to work and even told my wife I can't make it to the hospital to deal with her "labour" pains.

This is it, folks! Today is the day, flood gates will open. Take my money, god damn it!!

These arguments over LOD are weird to me. Why waste resources on detail you can't see? When you can see (AV, homespace, photo) you turn up the pretty as high as it goes. When you can't see (like when racing) don't need to render it. Seems like pragmatic code.

Ugh, all of these picture and information is killing me. Now I wish I had pre-ordered an XBox One.

By the way, who is doing the Forza 5 OT?

Yeah, pics are great and all but videos and information is where the money is...

We're getting there though....it's close..I can feel it..
so maybe badned was not drunk after all..

Its very serious.

A lot of people don't give a shit about the racing, pause pressers, pixel porn watching hoars.

Get discussion going and you have more talk about useless detail than you do about the actual gameplay. So T10 has their bases covered.

Good to finally see the TGTT back. The new shots look superb, and I can't wait to compare my lap times to The Stig's.

Speaking of which:

And some say that there’s a new achievement in “Forza Motorsport 5,” with The Stig’s Digital Cousin, where if you beat him you’ll unlock the “Some Say” achievement (whatever that is)…

I got a little chuckle out of that.

Those TG Tracks screens look great. I'm really curious to the photorealism of that track will affect the car models.

Haha, really? I sort of assumed that "company men" were not allowed to do the OTs for their games.

But I am willing to help with the OT if anyone needs it. I won't have the game for a while, but I would love to help keep ForzaGAF going strong.

They are indeed not allowed to do the OT for games they are involved with.

Here's the quote from the official thread guidelines (found here http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=468233)

When you create an official thread for a game, ideally after notifying the rest of the community here (especially for major releases so that you don't step on toes), you should follow these rules:

-Do not be affiliated in any way with the game in question, whether as a developer, publisher, or marketer.

Nah, not allowed..

I may regret this later, but if nobody else is doing the OT, I would be glad to do it. Of course, not having the game might make doing the OT a little painful, but I will try and pull thru for all of ForzaGAF.

Hey Zorbs, you wanna collab on another OT?
