No doubt the cars will look marvellous, eager for more tracks though.

Yeah, we are at a point where most games will have great looking cars. It's the tracks that will determine shit for me. Thankfully, it seems FM5 will take care of that equation this time around..

We got a 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8 in yesterday. I suppose with the 2009 listed, there's no chance for the new one in the game?

Oh boy, those are all cars that have been in Forza games. No doubt the number of NEW cars will be pretty slim

Love forza. Maybe it's the lighting but the cars don't not look realistic. They kind of look cartoony. I know they talked alot about paint. But things like head lights and break lights don't look to have much depth. I wonder if we are to have a standard car, premium can situation. The grills on both cars don't seem to have the correct material textures. They mainly look like very high quality forza 4 cars.

Don't get me wrong the game looks good and I would prefer a large amount of cars vs less cars. And cars in forza 4 looked great but I want to see auto Vista level of detail For every car. It would also be amazing. If you could get out of the car at anytime and walk around it and open up everything.

After playing gta5 I expect more of the little details for graphics now.

Speak for yourself.. Bathurst (glorious though it is) is only the tip of the iceberg of my own personal track list..

The good new is they confirmed that all the cars are Autovista this time around, so no fear of tiered detail levels.

Hehe.

I'm also becoming increasingly desensitized to 'photomode' shots in these racing games, but I suppose this is better than nothing.

Yeah, you can tell these shot have more AA applied than they would in full-res video. The effects though seem roughly the same, which is one of the best things I can say about this set of next-gen racing titles. GT5 and F4 had beautiful images come out of photo mode that were definitely several notches above the real gameplay experience. We're pretty close to those in general for visuals.

lol, if Bathurst was the only track, I wouldn't mind.

But if the Geometric leaks are anything to go by:

Long Beach Grand Prix Circuit
Autodromo Nazionale Monza
Silverstone Circuit New layout
Yas Island Marina Circuit
Pacific Raceways

add Spa, Bathurst and the other Forza tracks...it will be glorious!

Thank you very much for posting this fellow GAFfer.

I can't wait to see more proper discussions about FORZA, the game is looking good, loving the paint on those cars. Shame I won't experience this one with Forza-GAF I loved getting the previous ones on the first day and I would get the Collector's Edition as I did got all the others.

Oh well, I can always lurk Forza 5 |OT| ;)

OK, you may have a point.. those would indeed satiate the most die-hard of us..

Looks good, but a long ways to go still for realism. T10 is not good at realistic lighting, shading.

Before now it was difficult to pinpoint where the talent ended and hardware limitations begun but now more than ever I believe absolute photorealism isn't a goal.

PD does it, Bizzare did it and I'm pretty sure a team the size of T10 could hire somebody to do it too if they weren't up to the job.

Since Forza 3 especially, I've thought of it as working towards the style of showroom photography. Obviously with the right staging you can get photo-realistic images, but the "default" style has leaned toward catalog work in both presentation and setting. I've known enough career photographers that had boners for the execution on these games (and their style sort of matched it) that I assume so, anyway. Auto Engage has a pretty good breakdown of that style, with reference imagery.

That's the sort of vibes I'm getting too.

I have say though, when PD isn't hiding the sun away (Tokyo 246 for example) GT5 also had the same look and this is what I think makes a huge difference.

looks beautiful but i'm not easily impressed by photo mode screens of MENU models :p
I'm not even sure those paint shaders are there ingame.

Yeah I have always believed it to be an intentional saturated, color heavy looks, like the cars *pop* as a design choice. They could easily put a filter on it, tone down the color, turn up the gray and brown, and get more of a true life, imperfect lit, photo look.

Forza looks that way on purpose. All the cars are lit like they were pulled off a magazine page.

Like the old TG studio location from F4 I'm digging the way the cars are so planted in the scene and don't know if it's a different angle but the bloom/haze has gone.

The Indy car and P1 had it.

I dont care actually. What I want from Forza is a visual upgrade. Im fine with driving the cars from FM4, the selection is fucking excellent. They could add nothing but the new Ferraris, open wheelers, and all the cars from FM4 (with visual upgrades) and my only complaints about content would be the obvious ones-no night racing or rain.

Forza 4 already has like every car you could want not sure what cars they could add? Thats part of the reason I'm just sticking with Forza 4 (plus there's no firm steering wheel details anyway). No support for my high end wheels = no buy. I'll just stick with forza 4, GT6, & PC sims. my plate will be more than full

edit- oh yeah they could add Open wheelers! Forgot FM4 had no open wheeler support. My favorite open wheeler is the Star Mazda which I'm driving in iRacing

Fallen Xbot (cannot continue gaining levels in this class)
looks nice. hope they use this opportunity to unveil and show off some of the new showrooms aside from this one. also, would be nice to see the cars unveiled on track too. maybe not pics mid race, but at least the "attract screen" fly bys with the high end LOD models. (yeah, i know, all cars always use the same LOD... right.) new tracks wouldnt hurt either.

They seem to have turned some tessellation on which is good.

And I, for one, would prefer to see them in a more natural environment than these home spaces.

It wasnt all too too long ago I was playing the new hotness called space invaders and adventure. Now games are at this point. Reading comments critiquing these graphics are hilarious. My lawd those shots look ridiculous.

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
Okay, real talk.
I wish Turn 10 didn't go for a lighting style that isn't realistic? It doesn't feel right.
