I would say "Suhoyev" on my language, it is the same way Russians pronounce it.

But yeah, Sukhoi would be "correct" from the international perspective.

It is "Suhojev" in my book to be 100% accurate :)

Yeah I'm aware of that but Sukhoi it's how it's normally translitarated into latin alphabet.

I keep wanting to buy the game, then I see how rough it is still.....maybe one day..

For the record, that's a user-created track, and the chosen time of day doesn't do a lot to showcase AC's dynamic lighting. The game typically doesn't look rough at all, and the physics are delightful. You should get it right now solely for the 98T at full boost around the 'ring... and the growing mod community.

Its a conversion mod of an old track.

The game doesnt look bad at all, but if you're not most interested in its unmatched driving model, then its not your type of game anyways.

Fastest way to locate the mods is car name+assetto corsa in your choice of search engine ;) Don't mean to read like a douche - it's how I find the mods when I cannot see them on Race Department.

I assume these are from the racing franchise on the green console. In that case, there is likely to be a lot more to come. :)

Just a PSA. None of these mods have what I would call "good physics". The models are ok, but the physics need a lot of work. Early days.

Mods get better each week. Play it much more than pcars. But I would kill for ACs physics and PCars visuals.

A few of the mods (some I've linked to in a previous post) are being offered for sale on a website that's largely mirrored the layout and premise of United Racing Design.

Unlike URD, this modding group aren't making scratch made mods but are apparently/rumoured to be ripping content from Forza and other such sources. Their current mod, the BMW E39, is listed for sale on their website.

I'm not going to name the modding group as they don't need the publicity; I would advise anyone seeking mods for AC to stick to the known channels such as Race Department, NoGrip, bsimracing and VirtualR unless you are 100% sure (e.g buying rF2 mods from United Racing Design).

A small (16MB) update just released:

0.21.12
- Python :: exposed getCarsCount(), getCarLeaderboardPosition( carIndex ) , getCarRealTimeLeaderboardPosition( carIndex )
- Now fonts are read locally and not inside system folder

0.21.11
- Graphics performance improvements
- Fixed PP FXAA
- Improvements on Font management
- Linux server in server folder

Sorry if it's been answered, but any word on DK2 support?

Nope, and probably won't be until they do the big graphics overhaul. It seems to be just a timing issue.

Since Oculus WILL be updating the .4 SDK, they'd have to recompile the changes they are fine tuning now. So they are waiting until their graphical overhaul is complete and I believe an updated SDK or at least a more 'improved' version.

If they released it now, and Oculus released a new SDK, it would set them back as they are still working on their own engine.

At least, that's my understanding of the issue from various posts and discussions.

Gonna take a break from this for a while. I'm just too frustrated. Getting a wheel has made my experience more immersive and the smoothness of the steering has enabled me to mostly match and often beat my times on a controller, but I'm still hitting a roadblock in terms of improvements and its frustrating the hell out of me. I still don't have a good 'feel' for the car at all. Most cars feels like I'm almost driving FWD and the rear of the car is just following along, completely devoid of any feedback. This is particularly the case with the Exos 125.

My braking is also still terribly inconsistent, even with the GTEye mod. Nothing has really changed except that I have to now press harder on the pedal. I still cant figure out how to consistently brake at the threshold. What's really killing me is that I cant trail brake whatsoever. I'm having to drive way too smoothly and pushing is out of the question cuz I cant feel the car enough to judge my steering inputs in the late end of the braking phase to get the car rotated.

So I can drive smoothly and somewhat quickly, but the second I try and push, I'm spinning or locking up everywhere. I think I probably just need to come to terms that I'm just not very good and never will be, but that's a bit difficult to accept right now.

EDIT: An example - I'm still unable to even get within 7 tenths of my time I did in the first week or so of owning the game with the Xbow at Magione. Just cant do it for the life of me, no matter how many dozens and dozens of laps I try. I usually cant even get within a second most tries. That is infuriating for me. Why do I suck so bad?

Is it just AC, or have you found you're having a hard time adjusting to other sims as well?

You should Shadowplay a lap or two, and we'll see if anything looks unusual. The uglier, the better. If I thought you didn't know how to make a car go around a track then I'd probably consider it hopeless, but I know you do. I've seen it. I just really wonder if it's some sort of technical issue.

Note that there have been minor physics changes since launch, some of which have slowed the cars down slightly. The Monza/Lotus achievement is a lot more challenging than it was a few months ago.

Guys the F1 mod beta is out with Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg's cars and it is AMAZING!!!
Seriously, who would buy F1 2014 now? This feels amazing, way better than the Codemasters games imo.

Haven't really played any other racing sims in a while.

I was honestly just having a bit of a hissy fit, which I do sometimes. I know what my issues are, but I'm definitely having a hard time trying to deal with them. I'm not actually slow, but I want to be faster, and my inability to push to the limits during braking and corner entry phase(trail braking, in other words) is costing me a lot of potential.

I'll try and record some laps tomorrow, but I think this is basically just something that's down to me to get a grip on. Like you said, I know how to make a car get around a track ok, but its those extra bits of performance that I'm trying to find now - the things that make the difference between a decent and a great driver. I might be asking too much of myself so soon, but its frustrating that I know exactly where the time is and not be able to figure out how to get the car to do what I want.

Anyone who wants to actually drive a season (or seasons), with point scoring and actual F1 tracks?:)

The Codemasters F1 are lacking in many ways, but at least you can experience the whole F1 calendar. All these upcoming racing games/simulators are great, but none of them is a complete game yet.

Small price to pay for a massively superior driving experience.

I hear you. It's intense, and when things go wrong, it's easy to get agitated. I'm a terrible driver when pissed though. Things only get worse for me. I need to be relaxed and without expectation to find speed.

Got to try that 2014 mod. Looks the business!

EDIT: Tried the Merc... didn't do much for me to be honest. The URD Corvette is wicked however! The sound, oof. Sick. It feels more like an rF2 car than an AC car like it's been A-B'd to death with rF2 rather than having it be it's own thing in AC. That's not necessarily a bad thing... Only did three laps but it could be my new favorite car in AC.

Just did a couple of lap at Imola with Lewis' car. I wouldn't call the car pretty (still early version of couse) but the driving is great and the ffb really really good.

Also, is it me or there's no Tire temps apps in AC right now? The closest I got was the Tire Debug but the temps are lost in the middle of a bunch of small text which is not really useful in the middle of a race.

Only in some circumstances. Didn't they gimp the ability to drive an entire F1 season as your favourite driver?

Is this worth buying if I don't have a wheel?
Bearing in mind that I've never played any racing game with a wheel, so it's not like I'd know what I'm missing.

Plan on just using a wired 360 pad.

Yep that's how I'd put it as well, if the driving sucks then what's the point even if you have a career mode. I'm a die hard racer and F1 fan and all the crap from the Codemasters games prevents me from barely finishing a season. Also online in AC with these types of cars with 90% people using wheels will undoubtedly lead to cleaner and more interesting racing.

That mod is almost everything I wanted from an F1 game wow. I suck, but that already is on a completely different league to the pathetic excuse that codemasters make.

Times like this I almost wish Niels worked for Kunos. Or at least, did mods for AC.
I've no idea what Reiza will use in the future as Niels is very happy with rFactor however GSC using either AC or rFactor 2 as its base would be God tier (not that GSC already isn't).

Having used the URD Corvette in both rF2 and AC, it feels a lot better in rF2. Probably not a surprise given URD are quite familiar with rF2 and the version in rF2 is 1.8 versus an 0.1 build for AC. Very promising start though!

Can anyone tell me what their plans are for DK2 support? Have they mentioned anything on the forums?

i'd like to know too, been looking around the various sims i own, it seems like live for speed could potentially be the first dk2 enabled sim :O yes, you read that right live for speed! lol

scawen said:
In LFS DK2 code, I have got a grip on all the tracking (in a separate test program). So now I need to work on the graphical side. The distortion is completely different from the old system, so I don't know how hard it will be.

I find both ways quite complicated and confusing, compared with the old system. But I am reserving judgement. Sometimes it takes a little time and sleeping to get my head around things. Let's see if I can get one of them done today....

hopefully an incoming test patch

I tried the Corvette with AC and liked it very much. That made me go and find the rF2 version. Wow, what a car. Just been driving at Croft and apart from getting absolutely stomped by the AI, it's just a great car to drive.

As a lot of people seem to saying now, when rF2 gets it right, there is nothing to touch it

The SimPit: Assetto Corsa Early Access Review

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_gXAp2APH4

I don't agree with everything Shaun says (e.g. he believes some cars are too easy to drive/also mentions there could be hidden assists) and he glosses over a few details such as the different track grip levels, it is a reasonably in-depth review.

I'm sure Kunos would be pretty adamant that there are no hidden assists. However I'm also of the opinion that certain cars are too easy to drive in AC, but I believe it is likely down to the tyre model being quite forgiving over the limit (particularly the race compounds), and the individual characteristics of the cars being expertly calibrated for good balance and driveablilty. Kunos would also assure us that real data has been used wherever possible, but there is still plenty of room for interpretation when applying this to the physics engine.

I'm also not a huge fan of the FFB.

And I also don't agree that the sounds are 'fantastic'. They're pretty good, but can sound unnatural/synthetic at times.

I cannot stand when people make the argument, difficulty=realism in a driving sim. What is, and should be, difficult is to drive each car fast. To get to the limit of the car. The Zonda R is a perfect example. Look at Top Gear's review. The car is driveable. The GT3 cars as well. All are driven by elderly businessmen in real life and you do not hear (many) horror stories. But these people are never anywhere near the front.

A great counter example would be the Skip Barber in rFactor 2 and iRacing. It was WAY too twitchy when it first released in both those sims. It is now much easier to drive. People complained, but the car is much more faithful to its real life counterpart.
