Splatoon in July? I don't think it matters when it hits, but I don't see it coming in July just because it's very rare to see a big release in that month, also announcements in June should help sell the console.

Don't sleep on a July release!

A couple hundred more units and the Switch SKU will be the 2nd best selling version of Puyo Puyo Tetris :).

All numbers are from Famitsu

Man, making this guess last week:

Turned out to hit the damned mark. As per MC:
Switch Games sold in the top 20 - 72,246
Switch consoles - 78,441

I know, trackers aren't 100% precise, we live in an age of digital, etc, but Splatoon 2 hype is real when it's selling consoles with nothing else on them.

Puyo puyo tetris is just outside the top 20

Yeah, just saw that thanks to ZSaberLink. Adding it (though the numbers are from different trackers) brings it to 75,529.

I imagine there's a few other titles down the list, like Disgaea 5 Complete and I Am Setsuna, which could bump the software sales to match consoles sold. Still pretty impressive feat though I'd say, and absolutely driven by the Testfire.

Nintendo also increased stock and it's apparently a holiday week. Switch sales in the previous weeks were clearly limited by stock, and this week Nintendo shipped more alongside the testfire. Even without the testfire, I wouldn't have been too surprised to see a decent increase thanks to more stock (unmet demand being satisfied) + holidays.

The switch is doing great and Oregano is nowhere to be seen
He got banned.

Nice! That + the 3DS numbers should give some hope for puzzle games there...

Waiting for Golden week here in Belgium to buy MK8 and Puyo Puyo (we can buy this one for only 32€ at Jouets Broze).

Impressive Switch and 3DS numbers. I begin to think that 3ds has the potential to reach 25 millions only in Japan.

I hope so. Shifted my Wii U way before this was announced and really wanted to play it. Have held off 3DS version thinking it will come to switch

I'm in the same situation. Kinda bothered that Nintendo didn't have the courtesy of updating the Wii U version with the new 3DS levels/challenges... Or releasing them as paid DLC.

We'll see what they do with this franchise in the Switch... ^^'

EDIT: Offtopic but

- Different aesthetics (Super Mario All-Stars, SMB2, etc)

that doesn't make too much sense... SMB2 has a totally different gameplay/items/moveset so it would need a whole new mode separated of the others to make those levels. The same with SMW2, as much as I love that aesthetic.

Adopting those aesthetics but keeping the SMB1/3/WORLD/NEW playstyle would backfire hard as many fans would get frustrated about not being able to make that kind of levels...

there is no way nintendo is not making either a sequel or a quick port to the switch

We need a sequel. Everything the first game has, along with:

- Different aesthetics (Super Mario All-Stars, SMB2, etc)
- More level tiles
- More level themes
- More enemies
- More power-ups (frog suit, hammer bros, etc)
- Slopes

So it took 4wks for Switch to cross 500k in Japan,3wks for Wii U, 7wks for PS4.

Then make it a separate mode where you can't change the aesthetic once you begin creating. A separate/exclusive SMB2 mode would be fine. They could have a disclaimer that pops up when you select it stating that this mode cannot switch between visual styles and is limited to SMB2 tile sets and mechanics only.

Switch selling on hype is good to see, if it can keep up for another month, Mario Kart should catch it.

First new portable Mario Kart in over 5 years, should have legs regardless of being a port with new features. Especially in Japan.

Splatoon in July? I don't think it matters when it hits, but I don't see it coming in July just because it's very rare to see a big release in that month, also announcements in June should help sell the console.

Lastly I wonder if Minecraft Switch will be the full featured Minecraft you get on ps4/xb1 and PC or if it will be a last gen port. Since bringing the current game to portable would be a feature upgrade from phones/vita and Wii U.

Sorry, I can't tell - are you expecting June then or August for Splatoon 2? I believe Nintendo clarified after the January event that the game is coming in summer but specifically in H2, and with Obon mid-August I think it has to hit by then, so I feel like July is decently likely, though plans change. FWIW, I think Pikmin 3, which was the first full-priced Wii U first party game in several months (I believe G&W was lower priced), came out in July in Japan and the UK. I agree though that July releases are unusual for Nintendo.

Fair enough about the different mode, but considering the long list of enemies/items/themes/music/features/etc from SMB3/World/New absent in SMM, I'd prefer them to focus on that before making other secondary modes and losing the focus of the game. IMO.

A Zelda 3 Dungeon Maker, a Yoshi's Island Maker, a new F-Zero Maker, or even a DKC Maker would be amazing down the line, tho.

That's fair. Beef up the foundation of the first game with everything you listed and make that the primary focus. I would be okay with a SMB2 mode releasing later on as DLC.

And I've been dreaming of a Zelda Dungeon Maker ever since SMM released, so you and I are definitely on the same page as far as that goes!

Splatoon in July? I don't think it matters when it hits, but I don't see it coming in July just because it's very rare to see a big release in that month, also announcements in June should help sell the console.

Large games have launched in July before. Dragon Quest IX and Yokai Watch games have both launched in July off the top of my head. Big games don't really launch in June. I think the biggest one from memory is Phantom Hourglass which launched in Japan in June and did close to a million lifetime.

Have you ever tried Zelda Classic? It's obviously not as intuitive as something like Mario Maker is, but it works pretty well, even if it's mostly optimized for Zelda 1.

Mario Maker could still use slopes, secret exits, and a world map creator, among other big features.

When has the last time a console was announced to be discontinued and it increases in sales...

Damn PS3, we see you.

Famitsu took an interview from gamesmaya.

End year and new year holidays 3DS-PS4 battle was interesting.

For Switch: shipments go directly to reservations, 70% attach rate for Zelda, high satisfaction from those who bought it, preorders from customers are strong and Nintendo increased shipments lately.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

Technically (never thought I would say that) you should count SnipperClips digital code's sales as well, if you're using Famitsu numbers.

I've heard of it, but I'm not too familiar with it. Just looked it up and it looks pretty cool!

Terrible month for Nintendo eShop sales with Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 Professional the top 3DS title with just 8,766 sales and Minecraft the top Wii U at just 1,619 (which means you only need to sell around 400 to top the eShop charts - the fact most new releases don't chart means sales must be scary low).

Strong Sony digital sales with Assassin's Creed Unity at 133,943, Assassin's Creed 4 at 126,689, Let It Die at 63,675, Nioh at 43,724, NieR:Automata at 38,180 and so-forth. Okami will do the full list shortly as that's not my thing!

I think the high satisfaction part is the most important thing here. The device will have good word of mouth and is really easy to show off to friends and family. Mario Kart will only drive this more.

And here I thought February charts could include Switch's debut week by miracle, damn it.

At least, we got an unexpected sneak peak at a digital-only game with SnipperClips' sales at retail, lol.

Happens most the time. People who are on the fence will pick them up before they're all gone

I should have said thats an actual question, lol

Guess I better pick up a PS3 now before its discontinued in the US.

And my god at the Switch. Is it safe to say its actually picking up Wii U and 3DS sales? Or is it too early to say?

If it can sustain sales like this Nintendo can say bye bye to the 3DS. Go all in on the Switch.

They don't launch in June because June is the worst month in Japan. All work, no holidays, start of the rainy season.

Go Switch go! I think it can reach a million by week 12 as long as Nintendo keeps sending them.

It's a bad week to discount the 3DS considering it is still selling 40k in Japan.
