This OP could have done with some info /links.

No idea what magical drop is.

It is just a puzzler, match more than 3 and they dissapear, can you can create chainreactions. It is fun as a multiplayer against eachother, and very fast.
That is al you need to know....

Ghostlop included?? you mean the avatar? or that game into this magical drop game....where did you find that info.

Edit: Here's the Joystiq Preview with Ghostlop pictures: http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/09/magical-drop-v-preview-the-ghost-of-data-east/

When you unlock the Ghostlop characters in this new Magical drop, those character bring the gameplay of Ghostlop into you personal board. So if you're playing multiplayer, the people playing GLop characters will be playing that game, MDrop characters that one.

This doesn't seem to imply that they have their own nemesis from their games, or their own music or such, yet. Just gameplay related, as far as I've seen.

They've apparently been balanced to make them equally competitive, but we'll see how that goes.

The info has been mentioned in this thread, in the video talking to Shane, and also in the Joystiq article on the game.

I'd kill for a Windjammers reboot. I could also see the Windjammers setup working in a puzzle game setting. Maybe not Magical Drop, but something similar.

Will grab MDV on release.

I'm not sure how I missed this but I was watching this E3 demo video with Shane Bettenhausen and he dropped some interesting news about Magical Drop V on PC. He confirmed a Steam release and the price they are targeting is $10 or less, maybe even around the $5 price point. They also mentioned that the game could release on Steam as early as September. I can't wait for this! I really need a good puzzle game like this on the PC. Below is a direct link to the video for anyone that wants to watch:

Has there been any news of this since E3? Their facebook page still lists an october release date. Looking online, i cant seem to find info after june.

New pictures on their facebook from December - https://www.facebook.com/golgothstudio
They're incredibly slow. Toki has been announced for years and hasn't launched yet, so don't hold your breath.

Though - I heard they're working on this with another developer, and having a publisher is a plus too, so it's possible they might actually release it.

Ignition and Golgoth Studios have parted ways, so Magical Drop V and Toki are seeking a new pubisher...

What's going on at Ignition I wonder?

I think part of it is probably Ignition's orthogonal shift away from localizing niche Japanese stuff (see also Shane Bettenhausen leaving), and part of it is probably Golgoth's inability to actually complete or release a product.

I really, really, really hope this plays as well as Magical Drop 3. The awesome Saturn version, not the semi-crappy Neo-Geo version! Best vs puzzle game ever.

I'm glad this is still a thing, was kinda losing hope after the months of quiet.

I've only played the NG version, what's semi-crappy about it in comparison? I agree though, greatest vs puzzler.

The animation, mostly. Not the character animation but the animation on the main play area. It's PERFECT in the Saturn port and I was shocked by how cheap it felt on the Neo-Geo in comparison (when I played it much later).

I'd have to try them both again for a better comparison but I remember it being night and day.

After YouTubing some Saturn play I can see what you mean, the motion in collecting and throwing orbs is a lot smoother. Though at least NG doesn't have load times!

So kinda Puyo Puyo / Puzzle Bobble?
Except it feels much faster. Versus play with someone who knows what they're doing is transcendent.

Youtube doesn't show the framerate difference either. And the Saturn version's load times are really short! Nothing like the Playstation version.

Happy to see this still exists.

I don't pretend to be competent at this game, but it feels more like panel De pon/ Tetris attack than puzzle bobble or puyo.

I like it a lot more. Puzzle Bobble's "will this shot really go where I want it to go?" thing has always annoyed me.

Magical Drop is all about the wonderful, perfect chaining system.
I'm pretty sure this is in most PB games. I swear, was it Bust a Move 3(jp Name) that was this amazing entry?? I can't remember but one was just ace, with all the special powers and crazy chains.
