Most Memorable Videogame Menus

This thread is useless without pictures and movies.

I'm looking for Mirrors Edge/Metroid menus. Those were slick.

Persona 4's was very stylish and clean.

Came to post this. I love how simple and retro it is. The overlapping shapes and overabundance of yellow is an interesting look. The whole aesthetic runs through the entire game from the in-game menus to the battle screen.

Altimit OS and the in-game menus. So nostalgic. The SFX work in the .hack games is fucking amazing. Every time I look at pictures I can hear the sound effects playing :)

it's already been mentioned but Codemasters has menus and GUI's that are just on another level this gen. I thought GRID was even more impressive than DiRT and DiRT2.

I actually prefer more simple menus that are quicker to navigate and don't require loading. Streamlined menus >>> _________. As nice as the Dirt 1/2, and GRID menus were, I always felt like they were making me wait longer when starting the game/quitting a race, etc.

Can't find an image / video, but Folklore - for its simplicity, colors and this beautiful music.

Equally good ones: MGS4 for the sole idea of scene straight from the game, Heavenly Sword for the style.

Brutal Legend. The game might have been shit but the LP menu was cool.

This. I remember taking a while just to take a look at the main menu. It was really cool and original.

I love the SMB2 menus. Mostly because of the music, but it was a good call to keep them so simple and easy to get through super-quickly. :D

I was always impressed by how the menu in the God of War games immediately transitioned to the action.

I loved it's main menu. Even though I was late to the party and had set my expectations low the little into video with Jack Black leading to the menu was cool and then For the Glory of ... kicked in and suddenly I was like "I'm ready to play the shit out of this!". The game has a bunch of problems but it's a love letter to metal and its fans.

Forza 3 and Wipeout HD/Fury were the first two that came to mind

No question in my mind.

No extra crap, shows all the scores that you need to beat. Has all the game modes available and you can jump right in after seeing your score fall just 1,000 points short of your friend's. It's perfect.

Mafia...I searched youtube but no dice. You were basically in a room with a smoldering cigar in an ashtray, and different menu options would swing your view around the room towards a usually relevant object ("exit" was the doorway, "free ride" was the map on the table, etc.)

Also, while I'm thinking about it, the first two Medal of Honor games for PS1 had cool "war room" style menus.

Wipeout HD Fury. The combination of the music and the insane particle effects is absolute audiovisual porn.

Any GT game. Soo clean.

The earlier Colin McRae games have also always had very slick menus.

Splinter Cell Conviction menu sounds. Everyone I know has tried to make a song out of it.

Metroid Prime is what I thought of first, memorable stuff.

Wipeout HD FURY has a really awesome menu background too, and recently the in-game menus of God of War III are just badass. :p Both Assassin's Creed games are also pretty stylish.

Pefect Dark. Virtual simulations beamed right into the players eyes. But you can take off the menu goggles and take a tour around the Data Dyne complex! So sweet.
