Famitsu Oct 20 (Bayonetta Review O_O)

I am not expert, but it is easy: GAF, as a site, HAS a lot of credibility (am I typing it right?). And a lot of gaming sites -if not all-, apart from press releases and own-made content, can come here and get the information about new announcments very, very fast. Almost like instantly.

If you post some fake news, and get away with it, you just damage Gaf's reputation overall. Therefore, removing a fake news thread is not enough if the news has already been posted, and in some cases are up for a few hours already - something is needed to discourage people from posting fake news. This something is a ban.

Some people take the internet way too seriously. Banning someone because they tried to be the first to post a news article with possibly incorrect information. The person who posted realized they made a mistake too and obviously doesn't want to be banned.

Wasn't NeoGaf responsible for the MGS Soda thing too? :lol

I'm sure there are plenty more examples to go along with that.

Jesus... does no-one read threads anymore? Post after post taking the score at face value, no indication that they understand the score isn't confirmed...

I didn't know people cared that much about Famitsu scores. What with their reputation and all.

To put it to perspective the last 40/40 titles were:

Monster Hunter 3
Dragon Quest IX
428: Fūsasareta Shibuya de
MGS4
SUper Smash Bros. Brawl

I for one hope you don't get banned OP!!! Partly because I want Bayonetta to get a perfect score but also because you seem like a decent fellow.
You should look at his photobucket account before you make this judgment.

It's not whether or not Famitsu scores are/aren't worthless that irritates me, it's the fact that there are a number of posts telling everyone that the info so far is suspect yet still we have people streaming in to post "40?! Wow - Action Game of the Forever". It would be just as irritating if the reported score was 22/40 and we had posts like "LOL! Platidum Games pump out another SNOOZER! ROFLOFLFOLFOFOLFOFLFOFLFOL!"

I know I'm late but whatever, there's more to videogames than just graphical detail. Gameplay is way more important in my book, and any other serious gamers' for that matter.

It's funny how this forum have slowly turned into another B3D clone. Don't get me wrong, I love high quality graphical and technical presentations in games (see Crysis) but this shit really needs to stop. /sigh

True but to get awarded best in class you need the total package do you not? I don't see Bayonetta fitting the bill.

[NDS]Umiharakawase Shun: Second Edition Kanzenban 7/6/6/6

wtf? I'm kinda glad I didn't know about this since I would have imported and been let down like I was for the PSP version.

and nice for Bayonetta. King of action games proves he's still king. But it's famitsu, so, yeah...

This thread sucks. =/

Five pages of "OMG Kamiya, Bayonetta isn't that great IMO, and Famitsu reviews LOL"

Blech
Discussion will shift to Bayonetta's awesomeness/failure as soon as the OP's info is proven to be correct/fake.

edit: or, even better, discussion will shift to the other news we're probably getting at that time.

More importantly, where's the rest of the Famitsu news. Guess it didn't get leaked yet.

My usual source for early Famitsu doesn't have it today for some reason.

Maybe Enterbrain finally figured out how to stop the leaks? (yeah for me -- no more weekly porn shop trip!)

As for the Bayonetta score, here's My Game Flash making fun of everyone, especially Sega:

I'm pretty sure the perfect score information is true, though...

neo2046 did say upthread (I think) that there was a rumour Famitsu had been held back a day because of a major Nintendo announcement, so we might have to wait a bit longer.

Personally, I think a solid gameplay experience would be the main criteria. Interesting, good innovation would come in second and presentation would be the icing on the cake.

Platinum went after a younger crowd when they created Bayonetta.

Just going by the demo I already know Bayonetta will be a excellent game on par with the established IP's for the genre like NG, GOW, DMC and I PERSONALLY think the combat is very deep, the amount of combos, weapons and styles will make this one of the greatest action games of this gen.

The fact that a semi naked woman with a virtual rocking body appeal to 14 year olds, does not put in to question the quality of the game

Bayonetta's absurdity seems like the logical conclusion to the Character-Action genre, honestly. I'd rather the dev embrace its wackiness than try to go the serious business route.

I don't get it..the leak has been delayed by Nintendo ninja's?

The actual magazine is coming out a day later because Nintendo is unveiling some huge project?

Seems unlikely.

What I suppose gives some weight to it - apart from being from neo, who seems rather well-connected and is pretty damn trustworthy - is that Miyamoto is giving a keynote at an event in the next day or so, and that IGN have been teasing an "A-level" game announcement this week.

Well, we should know soon enough. The comments from posters here who normally get the mag suggest that it is going out late this week, and I'm sure that for a big exclusive that wouldn't be entirely unheard of.

...and hey, seeing another big game in there would make Hero of Legend happy at least :lol

Not really sure why people have a hard time believing this given Kamiya's track record, the man just doesn't make bad games at all. The short demo alone arguably had more depth to it than any action game released so far.

There can't be any correlation between the keynote and Famitsu. His keynote is on Saturday, and Famitsu streets on Thursday. If the physical shipment of Famitsu is delayed a day, Nintendo will have to make the announcement tomorrow.

Ah, my apologies - I knew it was coming up this week, but I thought it was on 22 October, which would have coincided.

What are the chances some Japanese dudes started this rumor specifically because Miyamoto holds a conference and because of the twitter/IGN things?

I mean, if a mag was delayed a day and there was an announcement from Nintendo rumored for the same time period, I'd run around in forums screaming how well it all fits together (well not really, but I can see other people doing it).

But it does not prevent Nintendo from holding a press conference tomorrow to announce something, which Miyamoto would then expand on or include as part of his speech at the keynote on Saturday.

Always a chance, especially when it comes to GAF being suckered by Japanese rumours ;-)

As I said, what lends it some credence for me is the person who it came from - neo is usually very reliable and I'd expect him to have a pretty decent bullshit detector...

Sure it'd be nice if Nintendo revealed that new Masahiro Sakurai project in an epic way tomorrow but somehow I kinda doubt that. You know, just a little.

If enough people believe a fictitious thing, it will eventually become reality.

I believe in you Bayonetta Perfect 10!

Pretty sure the Bayonetta score is real. The rest of the scores are more suspect.

Yes, neo is indeed reliable. And I didn't mean to come off as snarky or anything. Just to me at first glance the "rumor" of Famitsu delaying a magazine for a huge Nintendo exclusive struck me as more wild fanboy wishing than anything really plausible (with the fanboy being the rumor starter, not you).

No probs - that's how I took it. I've been around GAF long enough to dread the arrival of another Hype Train, but this particular looks a little more plausible than normal. Wait and see, I suppose.

I can think of some pretty high profile games that were received much better than they would have been with average graphics. Presentation ( graphics/audio/story)is like 1/3 of a games criteria not just icing on the cake IMO.

Hopefully...I've made it a point not to spend money on shit-ports this gen, I don't wanna break that trend with Bayonetta.

This just shows that Mikami was too conservative and low budget with that black and white game. You gotta go big or go home.

It seems like Famitsu hands out 9's and 10's like candy.

This week is just loaded with a bunch of major releases. Two of the previous four issues had no tens, while the other two had one each (I think).
