Great thread, thanks everyone.

Dust: An Elysian Tail
btw Happy Anniversary, just an awesome OST from HyperDuck

Thank you! Nothing much to add, but any mention of Lost Odyssey needs to be counted. So amazing, one of Uematsu's best themes ever. BD was great too.

Another title screen I really really dug:

Dragon Age: Origins

Was just about to post this when I realized no one else had mentioned it. Great theme, if derivative of the LotR soundtrack.

Also cannot forget:

Ys: Oath in FelghanaI

Kinda cheating because it is a remix, but it's still amazing.

Oh my goodness, this. Folklore was nothing short of magical, and its soundtrack was equally stunning. Loved the game from start to finish, and start to finish again as I continue to replay it. That main menu theme -- and "To the Unknown", the theme that plays when you highlight its game icon in the XMB -- will always strike a nostalgic chord in my heart. Simply beautiful.
The demo for this game is the only thing from the older days I haven't deleted from the PS3's HDD (love listening to "To The Unknown" every now and then). My baby sister used to come rushing into the room whenever I highlighted the game because of that track lol.

Can't believe 4 days from now the demo will be 6 years old.

Mass Effect. First thing that immediately came to my mind when I read the title.

Some of my favorites have already been mentioned, so here's this one:

Prince of Persia 2008

Everything I wanted to mention has been already mentioned. I also would count Twilight Princess, but that one is technically a last-gen game.

This would normally take me hours to think through, but, luckily, Hero 30/Half-Minute Hero blew everyone out of the water so cleanly that there's no doubt. Too bad Hero 30 2nd didn't meet its challenge.

It's crazy that of all of the all-star composers on the thing http://vgmdb.net/album/13463 , Toshihiko Takamizawa butt rocked his way into my heart.

YEAH YEAH YEAH

gotta represent the best DS game, Advance Wars Dual Strike

Intro
Title ("Press Start" screen)
Main Menu

totally underrated soundtrack

I was totally surprised by it, certainly. It contributed mightily to the "put out all of the stops" feel of the game.

I've tried and tried and I still don't understand the affection for this soundtrack.

A lot of my favorites were posted, so if we're considering DS this generation (well it is because so is Wii, but Nintendo jumped ahead earlier with the 3DS, so I'm not picky), then:
It's So Wonderful from The World Ends With You
Sure, it's nothing truly epic or special compared to some other posts in this thread, but it was catchy and fun to leave on for a while. It was also the menu music by default, and I never changed it, because I loved it.

uhhh how has Demons Souls not been mentioned

Because no music plays on the title screen of that game.

If this was a thread for "best opening cinematic music", then you would have a point.

My favourites are
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Futuristic and haunting. Beautifully fits the themes of the game. My whole body anticipates that one echoey key stroke whenever I listen to it.

Wipeout HD
Just such a badass track. So full of stored energy and a thumping sleekness that the series is known for. Sometimes I wish this was my thinking music.
