Yooka-Laylee Patch Notes (a lot!) and Nintendo Switch Screen

So... One Switch picture. Okay... And?

Also, do Yooka and Laylee look blurry to anyone else? It's like Snake Pass and NBA Playgrounds all over again, and this isn't even UE4.

guessing that the screenshot gives you much the same experience as video footage of the Switch version would at this point.

I'm exaggerating, of course, but Unity performance on Switch has not been terribly impressive to date and YL is much more technically ambitious than the likes of Bomberman, Setsuna, or Mr. Shifty, so I do hope Switch buyers don't get burned here.

What do you expect? The game is huge and looks gorgeous. It even has small issues running on the Bone. It's not some 2D indie game.

Sounds like when I finally play my KS switch version a good chunk of the launch games issues will be patched out which is fine by me.

Nice seeing a Switch screen of the game in action. Hopefully they have demos of the Switch build at E3 or a 'running on Switch' trailer for Nintendo's Presentation.

From the update:

Ahead of the base-spewing trailer brawl of the Electronic Entertainment Expo – which we’ll be gracefully skipping this year – there are a few news-bits of our own to share.

I wouldn't expect anything more than maybe a few seconds of footage in an indie sizzle reel.

Sounds to me like they've listened hard to the criticisms with the game and tried to fix as much as they can with the patch. Hopefully the Switch version isn't too far out. I still want to play this on the go.

Sounds great! I'm glad this game is still getting updated. It wasn't perfect, but, unlike many others, I thought it was close to the games that inspired it. People have very rose-tinted glasses with the old N64 games. I hope they made enough money to make a sequel that can really be play tested and allow for more time in the oven. The first game had such a small pool of money to work from, it's no wonder it wasn't perfect.

I'm just irked at how long it's taking them to get the game out to Switch owners. I backed this on Kickstarter, and it's been how many months since it was released to everyone else in the world (who didn't back it), and I'm still without my game?

I do understand that compromises have to be made because of the Switch's reduced horsepower compared to PS4, XB1 and PC. A little blurriness doesn't bother me, honestly. I've played the shit out of Snake Pass and Playgrounds, I didn't notice it a lot during play.

Good thing I stopped playing this. Looking forward to the update! And I hope they fix the freezing loading screen on PS4.

I've been really enjoying my playthrough but there were a few niggling annoyances that all look to be addressed in this patch.
Awesome :)

Excited to pick this up again on Switch. I really enjoyed it.

Hoping some places rereview the game when the Switch version drops.

That's actually a really strong sounding update.

I got the Platinum before all these improvements...

Does that make me an OG?

One hardcore enough to master the jank, these late to the party players would never be able to handle the original snowplow!

Huh I think this patch fixed every problem I had with the game, maybe now is the time to go back for 100%, I'm pretty close anyways.

Pause music. Speech volume. Okay, I'm going back to playing it again.

Honestly though I enjoyed the game before these things, but this will still make it better for me.

Seems they made the cart and mini-games easier. Since I didn't have too many problems with them (the casino cart section took a while, but that's because I stupidly didn't realize you could shoot cannon balls until like the last Kartos) I'm glad I played it pre-patch.

Improved flying controls is worrying, since I thought the flying move was way too overpowered as is and they had made it unwieldy on purpose.

Hunter Tonic beeping on casino tokens may prompt me to go back and get the last one. Then again it doesn't mention anything about the Cashino token glitch, which I may have been a victim of (which is why I didn't bother to search it for long)

Being able to more easily distinguish between sonar and ice objects is good.

I only had minimal problems with the camera, but I'm curious about the new one.

If these patches do dramatically improve the gameplay experience, it ought to really interesting to see how the Switch version fares in reviews when it releases, since it won't be the vanilla version.

Glad to hear about the camera, it drove me crazy at times. I hope this gives me full control over the camera, as I will always know where I want the camera to be better than the game does.

Man this game would have killed it at the switch launch now I'm just kind of eh on it. It's already so cheap on the other consoles.

Lol. Platinum on the original version too. Some of those mini games still haunt my dreams and I have visions of careening off slippery ice bridges as a plow...

Gonna have to see just how "improved" the kartos sections and rextro games are for myself along with the camera.

Less scripted camera angles is pretty big honestly.

This is great news. Yooka-Laylee's biggest problem is a lack of polish and mechanics that you'd expect from a finished product. This looks to fix alot of the biggest pet peeves I have with the game and will make me actually want to look into glitches and speed runs due to finally being able to skip cutscenes.

Are they or did they fix how enemies can still attempt to attack you during dialogue with an NPC? That's an issue that stood out to me the most when watching reviews. Everything should just freeze when you're talking to someone.

Yeah, same. The game wasn't (and probably still won't be) great, but it's mostly harmless fun. I liked it for what it was.

Game isn't challenging at all outside of the last two arcade games, the 4th Kartos section, and that infamous slide. People acting like this was some unplayable disaster must not play many platformers.

This is probably something I would enjoy but it's worth waiting for the Switch version with all these patch improvements.

Voice options yesss.

I liked B-K voices, but for some reasons couldn't stand Yooka-Laylee's, so I had to delete those sound files.
