MARIO + RABBIDS: Kingdom Battle |OT| XCOM on mushrooms

Oh neat, will I only see the one of them if I load my 100% save?

My bad! That was the day 1 patch!!! Sorry.

The new patch is for crashing issues and such, according to the Reddit AMA.

Davide_Soliani at Reddit AMA said:
We identified all those issues and solved them. We already prepared a patch that will be released mid October. Thanks for your patience.

Just got to 4-5 midboss yesterday.
A little bit soured about that part even if the rest of the game was great.

First a freaking bug in the pipes puzzle labyrinth were trying to get the north chest will block you from continuing. Thankfully there is a "fix" by returning to the castle, but still, crappy bug.

Second, the midboss battle. If you die you dont restart from it. The game wants to waste your time by making you replay the previous battle also. Nice.
Also, very easy to fail against that boss the first time as you dont know how his mechanics work and can kill your whole team in a turn. After knowing its mechanics its relatively easy but fuck, the one time the flying disk tutorial should be helpful, he shuts up.
And this is a game that encourages attacking stance instead of defense, so its a little shitty of them making you waste your time repeating the previous battle instead of starting directly from the boss.

Still enjoying the game though.

Yeah, I had this. You get a prompt telling you to press A to go back into the pipe you just came out from, but it doesn't work and you're stuck.

I finished the game earlier today. Had the game released last year it would've been a GOTY contender for me but I had a great time playing Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. Rabbid Luigi and Mario have been in every single battle, right before the end I started using Yoshi too but I hardly used Rabbid Mario unfortunately. Now I'm looking forward to the DLC but honestly I hope that they're already working on a sequel too.

A bit sad we have to rely on youtube to see the new cutscenes if you already 100%ed the game, there should have been a new option to see them.

Still on the fence a bit considering the dlc: on one hand I want more, but on the other I'm not sure if I'll bite immediately since it's just challenges. Those are a nice extra, but I may hold out til the actual story expansion next year.
Gonna do the same. Loved the campaign and going through the stages again for the collectibles and secret stages, but haven't felt compelled to go back to do any of the challenges.

That one was annoying for me too, even once I knew the mechanic I died about 7 times. Finally got it in the end tho. At least that first battle is easy enough that once you have a good strategy it only takes 1 turn.

I've been playing a lot of this recently, and it's a good game, I see that, but I'm just not loving it like I thought I would.

Maybe the fact that each battle has essentially zero tension, and that the characters are already established, with no possibly of dying means I don't care about them.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but the game feels like it's missing something. The battle system is enjoyable, but I just don't have the urge to keep playing like I do with Fire Emblem and Xcom.

Wish you could grind this game. I lost interest in the Spooky World (3?).

I'll get back to it eventually...but I prefer being OP going into some fights. Patience is low.

How are the new challenges? Are the similar to the other ultimates?

You can go grind for coins if that is what you need?

That's what I typically do, though I guess you hit a limit at some point because you can only buy the guns you have unlocked and the better ones are in the later areas.

I finished the campaign last night. I really loved this game. Never really took to Xcom, yet this worked really well for me. Probably picking up the DLC.

I've now had this game for a week and a day... Since yesterday, i've been getting slowdowns and stuttering. If they released a patch with bugfixes, it seems they created more bugs where there were none. The game was very smooth the first week, but since yesterday, it's borderline unplayable.

I finally finished the four ultimate challenges that unlock after finishing the main game. Thankfully didn't suffer from many bugs, although the game did crash twice during a big battle. That wasn't fun, but the game itself was fantastic.

Although I appreciated the difficulty of the final challenges, I thought 2 and especially 4 were too long. The fourth one took me over five times to clear, which translates to hours of failed attempts. Once beaten, though, the sense of accomplishment is tangible.

The only sleight I have against the game is that while charming, it's attempts at humor fall flat 99% of the time. It's all bottom of the barrel poopy jokes. I don't like the Rabbids, and I think they stand in the way of better characters that could have added some personality to the 'story'. Some of the puzzles also got a bit long in the tooth.

Oh god, I don't think I'm mentally ready for more ultimate challenges, especially after not playing for a bit and being rusty. lol

Might just wait for the 2018 story DLC.

Even though trailer is out and says available now, I still don't have the Ultra Challenges despite having the season pass

I feel a little burned that 50% of the DLC I paid for is just "super duper hard challenge mode!"

I don't like ultra challenge. I'm not the type of gamer who sees a lot of replay value in the most punishing, face-punching challenges imaginable. That's not fun to me, and I may be way off base here, but I feel like that's not what most people consider to be fun.

I kind of wish there was more to look forward to here other than the omg-super-hard stuff. Is the new co-op stuff also based around super tough challenges? If so, imma be pretty sad.

The world 2 boss is kicking my butt.. Rolling with Mario, Rabid Mario and by default
Peach
. I get to what I think is the last phase and by then I'm down to one party member.

Any tips?

It was kind of funny that I was getting ready to trade the game in when this suddenly popped up. I might hold off just a bit longer if they hopefully drop details on that DLC Story soon.

Would be neat if we had a few more playable rabbids and characters if at all possible.

This is the first title I played after buying Switch and to be honest I am a bit disappointed. The game looks and plays wonderfully but it seems a bit more... shallow than I expected. There is little strategy involved in battles and there is virtually no exploration at all, just walking for a minute between consecutive battlefields.

Am I missing something? Does the game expand a bit when you move to World 2 and beyond?

The battles get more challenging, new enemy types are introduced and new characters and abilities get unlocked as you go. Don’t give up on it yet, you’re just getting started.

I just recently beat him, although Mario got KO'd at the last turn. Also Mario, Rabbid Luigi, and the third character.

I'd say, get rid of Rabbid Luigi. The boss is impervious to vamp/burn and cannot be tackled due to its size, so Rabbid Luigi can't play to his strengths (outside his cover-piercing bazooka). Rabbid Peach may be a better fit, she can heal, tank, and launch sentries to keep the boss busy (i.e. waste his overwatch skill) and still do a bit of damage. At least that's what I'd imagine.

What nearly did me in were the two (enemy type)
healers
that spawn near the end. Get rid of them as soon as they enter the field, even if you have to take a risk. Preferably you'll have offed the two other adds before they become active, but since those are slow and lack ranged attacks you might be able to just run circles around them.

Other than that... Uh... Maybe beat some challenges for more skill orbs?

Thanks, sounds like there's a lot more than I've seen so far, I'm definitely not going to give up soon.

Still, while I don't even agree with OP's "65% XCOM, 35% Mario" (I'd say there's far less Mario than that), I do wonder how good the game would be if it were fifty-fifty...

Did the often dreaded 4-8 today and to my surprise, I pretty easily got a perfect in all battles.

Fully upgraded m-power combined with high level bomb cars and luigi in overwatch just wrecks stuff. I managed to kill all smaller enemies in the final battle in one turn, kill bwario with overwatch before he even got a shot off during their turn and then just pilled on bwaluigi in turn 2. Turn 3 m-power was already recharged so I just popped that and nuked the lava queen. M-power is so insanely powerful when you upgraded it to the max.

Good call on Rabbid Peach. Healing would be very helpful. I've never done any of the challenges yet, maybe if I'm still struggling after switching up the party I'll try that.

World 1 is just an intro to the systems.

It's pretty shallow outside of a few different mechanics here and there. I was mega hyped for this as well as a big strategy rpg fan. If you've played hard srpgs before this is going to be an absolute breeze with only the most difficult stages requiring a restart (and those aren't that numerous outside if the challenges that aren't mandatory)

I finally hit 100% on the game. The ultimate challenges were dickishly hard although Ultimate 4, I finished on my first attempt. No major surprises, you just need your wrecking crew of Rabid Luigi and Rabbid Mario to take out the enemies and keep the area around Toad clear. You're given plenty of turns to take things carefully, so other than it's length it was actually one of the less irritating escort missions due to how powerful the party is.

Is the Ultimate DLC part of the season pass? I'm itching for more so many I'll buy the season pass...

Why would the only actual DLC released so far not have been part of the season pass?

Did it seriously just send me into what seems to be the start of the final boss and
not let me choose my team
?! I havent started it yet so hopefully theres some sort of reasoning for this but if not LAME.

I'm on world 3 and the games starting to get pretty hard, should I go back and grind battles for perfects to get more money? do you get any bonus if you perfect every level in a zone? I really wish they'd add the turn limit so that I could know ahead of time if I was a chump or not

Dang it, why can't I poop out a sentry even if there's no enemy currently on the level? I'd love to be able to park one on top of a bunch of ears, or at least send it on its way towards a strategic position. Guess that'd make them OP.

At least start each challenge once so you can revisit them later. I can't say I agree with the provided difficulty rating at all.
There's also loads of orbs in hidden and not-so-hidden chests. It may be worthwhile to play through world 1 again (by using the big cannon, not the washing machine, obviously).

Also, maybe you're like me and unconsciously focus on getting perfects. I say, for Endboss encounters, just play at your own pace and ignore the turn limit/character faint constraints. Get through the fight by playing defensively. Slowly, methodically chip away at the boss's health, even if you completely waste your theoretical damage throughput. Plus, again, sentries are your friends because they break enemy overwatch at no health cost to you.

Grind? Nah, every world has a secret chapter. Go and play the ones in W1 and W2, and do some challenges along the way. There are also chests scattered around that you couldn't normally get because they're blocked off and require you to finish the world to get around them.

I am on world 4 and have not replayed a single level, and am only having trouble because the game keeps crashing.

Worse comes to worse, there's always easy mode!

Crashing even with the new patch?

Mhm, have had two crashes so far and I've only gotten to 4-3. I can't seem to pinpoint why the game crashes, so it's frustrating since I can't make an attempt to avoid them.

I enjoyed this game a lot, but I won't be buying the season pass if I can't even finish the game without the software force closing :(

Finished this game on Monday. It was fantastic. It took me 35 hrs. acordding to the play activity log of the Switch. Some really tough battles but when you understand how to select your heroes accordingly it is easier.

The recent patch (released 2 days ago) were supposed to fix all known issues.
