Any gun owners lurking...

Have you heard of The Liberal Gun Club? There's a lot of similar sentiment there.

I like their forum because it's a gun forum that doesn't allow political bashing or veiled (or open) racism.
Yep! I'm also a member of the LGC. I was referred to them by a liberal gun owners Facebook group.

when you talk about liberal, are you considering yourself a classic liberal or a "democrat"? because there is a lot of confusion nowadays about both terms, and most people that call themselves "liberals" are not really classic liberals (I don't care either way, but usually classic liberals like 2nd amendment and less government, which is something democrats hate )

ps: finally freedom munitions send me 1000 9mm rounds. waiting to get to the range againA
When I am talking to the NRA it probably doesn't matter. They see Liberal=left=Democrat. My point for them is to focus on guns, drop the other political bullshit and welcome all who like guns, shooting sports and support the 2a. As for me, I'm far more left than your average Democrat.

Gun ownership is literally the only "issue" where I tend to side with republicans. They've always seemed backwards as fuck when it comes to just about everything else, especially recently with all the bigotry and cowardess with regard to minorities. I love guns and all, but I value basic human dignity and respect toward all people a lot more. And one side has that a lot more than the other right now.

Yup. I'm all for the NRA pushing back against ineffective legislation like the assault weapons ban, but they also lobby against even the most sensible legislation that would have no impact on law-abiding people. It's going to come back to bite all gun owners sooner or later.
Perfectly said.

Anyone know a "good / decent" setup to reload brass? I'm totally knew to it and would be wanting to work on reloading 5.7x28mm first, then maybe .308, 5.56, 9mm and finally possibly 12 gauge shotgun shells.
I would start with a hand press. It's cheap, will you teach you each part of the process at a slow, easy to understand pace and when you upgrade most of the parts can be reused on a progressive press. I personally started with a lee hand press.

FNH 45 Tactical is an incredible gun.

Form 4 was submitted 7/4/2016. Tax stamp was approved May 18th. Tax stamp was received by the FFL on June 7th which is when I picked it up.

Edit: Trust. It's silly to not do a trust for NFA items.

Shit, a year to get a suppressor approved ? Is this Nationwide ? Stupid stupid

What's up, suppressed Mk23 buddy?

The smith finished working on my East German AK.

Well, I couldn't find another gunsmith, so I bought a pin punch and knocked out the extractor pin on the Star. The first thing I noticed is that the extractor spring looks like part of it has become permanently compressed. The second thing is that the bottom of the extractor claw looks a bit worn, but it's hard to say.

Since I don't have a spring to replace the current one, I MacGyvered a short term solution by running the back side of a pocket knife blade through the coils of the spring to try and space them out. I also cleaned the spring and sprayed out the extractor channel with aerosolized cleaner. When I first took the pin out, the spring did not push the extractor very far out of the slide. After cleaning and finagling it it almost pushed the extractor completely out. I assume it should be able to escape under its own power, but this is an improvement.

For the claw, I took a brush to it in a way I couldn't with it in the slide, and a lot of residue came off. The bottom part of the claw looks like it could be folded back, but it's very hard to tell. The extractor is a tempered part and the color is splotchy, it could be that when they filed the claw shape into it they just did it unevenly. I'll have to see how it does next time I'm at the range.

That buttstock looks vicious. Is that what's you'll keep on it all the time?

So I'm looking for a low magnification scope for my new AR. My rifle is an M&P 15 sport 2 so it has a fixed front sight, which based on what I've read shouldn't be really be visible on the scope as long as it's > 2.5x magnified. But man, these things are expensive. I'm looking at the Vortex Spitfire 3x, but ideally I'd rather go cheaper. I want quality but this thing is like 2/3 the price of the rifle itself. Anybody have experience with these or a cheaper alternative?

I have a Burris 1-4x scope with lighted reticle on my fs2000. It works ok. I got a combo where it came with a Burris fastfire red dot. http://www.burrisoptics.com/scopes/...es-series/fullfield-tac30-riflescope-1-4x24mm

I have a vortex strike fire on my CX4 Storm. I use the included 2x attachment. I turn on the "night vision" setting, then up the brightness so I can see through the dot at the target that way. I liked it so much I bought another one...

Yeah, Walmart has some good deals on ammo.

I rolled in there a couple weeks ago and picked up a box of Federal Champion 9mm 115 grain, 100 rds for 19.98

They're just about always sold out when I go in is the only issue I have with them. What I've heard is that they have a per store quota and no store gets any more than what they're told they can sell.

Yeah, it's always a dice roll at Walmart. None of the ones where I live sell ammo. So, when my buddy and I go to the more suburban/rural parts of the start we'll dive into bunch of stores and look for ammo.

Speaking of which, how many rounds do people keep on hand?

I'm new to this, and I feel like I'm going to be seen as a nutbag hoarder.

Right now I have around 1500 9mm ball rounds and 200 defense rounds. I just ordered 1750 5.56 mostly ball, but a decent amount of green tip.

I usually have 50-100 9mm rounds on hand, but I'd buy them by the thousand for the savings if I could afford it. Everyone that I know that shoots keeps 1-2,000 rounds of whatever they shoot on hand.

I shoot 45 the most and right now have about 60 on hand - not counting self defense rounds I rotate in my carry mags.

I don't usually keep much on hand for other calibers. I do keep reloading components so I can make whatever I feel like shooting that weekend. The most I have on hand right now is probably about 200 5.56.

For the most part, yeah. It's not as bad as it may look--way better than an underfolder. It has a regular real trunnion, so I could always replace it if I wanted.

Came out as a gun owner to some in my liberal circle of friends.

It was a weird reaction.

But, a handful of people took me up on my offer to go to a range. We've got lanes and instructors booked. Yay!

There was one guy who apparently finds my AR building more distasteful than child porn making. Oh well.

I went shooting with two people that were on their way to a Democratic Party convention today and somebody who isn't that political but I'd assume is a liberal. It was a fun time.

In other range news, the Star still jammed a lot after a thorough cleaning. Will be seeing about replacing the extractor and spring sooner than I thought.

Did they actually say that? You might want to keep an eye on that person, especially around children.

Yeah.

"You're making one in your kitchen? Worse than child porn."

"Dude. It's like building a PC. And very little is worse than child porn."

I hate this man, people complain of bigotry, but are fast to call out other people's action even without understanding a thing of the subject.

Finally moved into a place of my own so I'm thinking about getting a handgun for recreation and home defense. Now to decide between a revolver or a semiautomatic. I know if I got a semiautomatic it'd be a 1911. Not sure what revolver I'd want though 🤔

It calmed down after a day of weird back and forth texting.

I was explaining that the vast majority of gun owners favor common sense gun laws, background checks, no firearms for those deemed mentally incompetent or those who have been convicted of violent crimes/domestic violence. That I feel that owning is firearm is a right I have as an American, just the same as I would exercise any right, such as voting, freedom of speech, interracial/same-sex marriage and access to affordable healthcare for all Americans.

The Aguila 147gr has been my favorite 9mm round to shoot suppressed so far. Functioned flawlessly and shot great.

I use Blazer Brass 147 grain.

Because it's cheap.

Also, there was a dude wearing armor at the range. Like a plate. Probably a steel plate.

This is weird to me, but I don't know his life, and to be honest, for me personally, if I need to wear armor, there were mistakes that were made already.

Got a new gun today. Springfield XDE. Shot it at the range and couldn't pass it up. Going to sell my XDS. Never liked the trigger but the XDE is perfect for my edc wishes.

Thought it was a solid gun at the NRA show. Not really for me but I was impressed.

Took out the suppressor today. Shot it on my HK45 and my FNX 45 Tactical. Really really like shooting suppressed. The Rugged suppressor can use the Silencerco pistons. They seem to have a little more blowback than the Rugged ones. I have a Silencerco Piston for the HK45.

Got some XS Big dot's installed on the Shield and ran my carry ammo through her without issues. I actually like this gun a lot more than I expected. Really comfortable to carry and completely disappears with a t-shirt. I tried appendix with this holster and it's just not for my body type. Went back to the 3:30 position.

Looking forward to trying out appendix carry once I get holster for it. Would never do that with the XDS but it's fine with a safety and/or double action.

Tried to cc my 10mm glock today but it's just too damn big.

The range still has a Daniel Defense Mk12 I've had my eye on for a long time and if they still have it on Tuesday it's mine. Preparing for my girlfriend to hate me for awhile.

edit: wish they'd get rid of NFA or at the least remove suppressors from it. I'd love to have one but there's no way I'm paying for it and waiting like 9 months. My gun shop is pretty cool though. If you buy one, they will take you out shooting and you can use it like once a month until you get your stamp.

469 but it seems to be 499 at most places.

Looks like they're $469 around me.

So, I just remembered I have a money order someone sent me, as well as a payroll correction check and I've actually got 75% of the cost of this gun that wouldn't have to come out of my own pocket. I can't see haggling for anything under the sale price of a newly released model of gun. But, the things that you might be able to get a store to throw in, like mags or a holster, the manufacturer is giving away. I feel like if I wanted to try to negotiate if I buy one of these in the next few days, I have no leverage of any kind.

Any good hagglers or negotiators have any thoughts on creative asks I could throw at a salesman? Maybe a belt?

Thanks, I ended up going with the Spitfire 3x prism that I was looking at, got it for 270 on ebay and that really seems like a steal considering 350 was the best price I could find elsewhere. Pretty pumped.

My buddy bought a Dan Wesson Valor. It shoots to the left. Consistently. With 4 different shooters. He's in a weird state of denial, and I don't blame him. I'd be annoyed as heck is my $2000 pistol did that.
