Dark blue suit for a wedding right? Is a three-piece a little too much bearing in mind I'm not a groomsman?

Brown shoes?

I'm going to have to purchase the whole outfit and I'm a little out of my comfort zone!
honestly I just sometimes buy women's clothes, for like jackets it hardly even matters. so much of what's offered for men is boring

Hey man, I like that jacket! I've nearly bought a ladies coat before but I couldn't get the tapered waist around my belly...

I mean have they said anything about a particular dress code ?

If not, a dark blue or gray suit, with a proper dress shirt and solid or subtle patterned tie.
Three-piece isn't too much imo
And black or brown shoes, pair your belt with it

Can anyone recommend somewhere in the UK or Europe that sells decent quality, affordable bracelets? Preferably leather. I was looking at these ones from M0851, since they're affordable and I like the way they look. However it'd cost me more than both of them to get them shipped to the UK from Canada and that's before the risk of customs hitting me. :'(

Any idea if it's common for runway showings to diverge from the actual releases? It seems a lot of stuff never actually gets released, not only colorways but whole items. Also noticed some of the fabrics changes.

I refuse to believe that these john elliott pants won't be delivered until thursday. I ordered them wednesday night of last week, UPS ground never takes that long!

yes if no one buys the items

Doubt it, happens even with popular brands from what I saw. Lots of what was shown for Watching Water was never released. Unless maybe a lot of them ended up being exclusives to some stores.

Which did you get? I'm going to look for some Nudies in-store tomorrow, but I doubt they'll have the one I want. I'll at least try to get a feel of the sizes, then at worst cop online. Or maybe these.

If I had the cash and could try them I'd get some JE.

Seems like my search for a pair of good looking affordable second-hand D02's in my size continues when both the ones I had as "candidates" got bought :/

Maybe I should just go for something new and cheaper like a pair of sandro(or Iro) skinnies if I don't find any good within a few weeks, it's not like anyone else (irl) will care if I wear sandro instead of SLP (aside from me, I want at least one pair of D02's but I'm in no hurry to have specific jeans I just need at least a new pair as I feel like I have too little variety atm)

Have you checked, like, etsy?

what? runway shows are so buyers (stores) can see what they want to put in orders for. so yeah, if there's something on the runway no stores want to stock it's not going to get made.

Anyone ever had an article made from scratch? Of course it would be costly, and unless you have someone who really knows what they are doing it might turn out to be a waste, but I'd be curious to get some simple pieces done first and see how the process goes, get some experience.

Check out craftsy.com for some introductory online courses on sewing machines. They are usually shit like making tote bags which take you through cutting fabric from patterns etc. Going to have to buy a sewing machine, fabric scissors, fabric, other shit if you plan on making your clothes.

I didn't, but I have now and I can't find the kind of thing I'm after. MA+ sells really nice ones but they're $400+ ;_;

Yeah, MA+ makes some quality stuff but they are ridicilously expensive. Even if I'd love to have a MA+ belt I'm not paying 1k+ for it.

On the talk about accessories, I've been thinking about getting a few silver rings for a while and I'm pretty sure I'll wait until I find some good Werkstatt Munchen rings pop up on grailed for an ok price and I'll use it as an entrypoint.

My mom's hobby is making clothes and she's pretty damn good, but when I asked her to teach me she just said 'forget it'.

Apparently it's incredibly time consuming and it takes too much time to get good enough to make the clothes that you actually want to make. She just told me to buy shit instead

I don't want to make them myself, I want a professional to do it.

That only goes as far as you can find the things you want though.

this comment is weird. 9 year olds in the developing world can make clothes for 18 hours a day but its too hard for you to learn to make one piece. i call bs.

Help me out here GAF. What are the 4 metal rings near the pockets on this shirt? Do they serve some kind of purpose or is it just some weird design choice?

I mean, if you're goal is just to make t-shirts, knock yourself out.

But anything more intricate takes more time and is much more difficult to make, obviously. Why do you think handcrafted clothes are so much more expensive?

It usually takes my mom more than a week, sometimes even 2 to make a coat - and she has 20 years of experience backing her.

Edit: Is there some kind of joke I'm not getting here? Internet is hard

I know a Korean website that specialises in custom made leather products. Might want to check it out. They're prices are pretty fair considering the materials (about 550 USD for a jacket, I think?)

Uhm you do realize they basically work on an assembly line doing only one thing (sewing buttons, attaching collar, sewing in fusing, etc) using commercial equipment that you can't really have in your house. I bet these kids in a sweat shop couldn't put together an entire garment themselves.

seems like a stupid hipster design choice.

Urgh. This reminds me of when I was living in Japan in '07 and for a while, the 'in' thing where those kind of flannel shirts but sprinkled with sparkling glitter. Pretty 'twas not. At the same time there was always also amazing stuff to be had there, much more diversity and bold design then in Europe. A lot I saw in Japan and South Korea back then, would trickle into Europe a year, two, later.

Sounds like you just want a tailor or made-to-measure services. Plenty of those around. What exactly would you want in terms of clothing?

Yes exactly.! I was thinking starting with the equivalent of a sample, going through those steps, get some xp with the process. I found a bit of info on the net. I'd like to make anything I would wear really, but the first piece I'd like to make is a hooded zipup nylon shell rain jacket. But really, sweaters, tees, anything really.

I have a 3D application I can use to make patterns if necessary. I'm a bit rusty with it but I want to get back to it, makes it possible to test the design virtually.

john elliott jeans came. they fit well and the color is nice, but there are a bunch of loose threads and the pockets are folded/flipped in a weird, clearly unintentional way.

also they're button fly which isn't mentioned anywhere on the website and would have been a dealbreaker for me had i known that before i ordered them.

gonna try acne studios next.

Can anyone recommend where to get dress pants? I get most of my dress clothes on Charles Tyrwhitt, but their pants are a bit on the spendy side ($140 for 2 pairs).

Then i have no idea, because what i was going to suggest cost more than that
Well, I guess I am still open to suggestions if they are over that. My concern with CT is sizing versus American made. Especially since slim fit pants are usually too tight for me (like Levi 511 jeans).

listen man, i know they're better in some ways but i suck at buttoning and unbuttoning things and if i really have to go to the bathroom, i don't want to be stuck fiddling with my pants until i piss myself because i can't get them undone in the heat of the moment.

I kid, I kid. I love buttonflys personally. There's just something satisfying about the feeling of popping the buttons undone one by one, but I understand that other people get annoyed with them. It's especially funny when dating someone who isn't used to them. I've had multiple instances where the first time I got intimate with a new girlfriend they tried to make a cheesy show of taking off my pants in a sexy slow manner, but would end up struggling with the buttons for like 20 seconds, only to eventually give up and ask me to do it myself.

that is a nightmare scenario for me

skinny pants are hard enough to peel off AFTER you get the fly undone!

My APC button-flys are easier and faster to undo than a button + zipper. Just tug to the left and brrp-brrp-brrp-brrp it's done.

Ordered a couple of sweatshirts from RC and Acne.

Definitely more than I feel sensible paying for a sweatshirt but damn they're so comfortable and soft and I never wanna take them off!

Afraid I don't have a suitable suggestion but this reminded me that Suitsupply are now doing design your own pants/trousers as well as shirts, through their website.

They're pretty expensive, though.
