Is the intro to Last Action Hero the greatest scene in motion picture history?

This movie is extremely underrated. I love it. It's a great opening but there are better openings and better scenes in the movie. The Hamlet scene was awesome.

The movie was too forward thinking for a summer blockbuster when it released. It's really one of Arnold's best movies as he shows off a bit of his acting chops as well.

Still remember the first time watching it. Prime Arnold; Terminator 2 to True Lies.

Great movie. It's one of those movies, where as a kid you just wanted to be in that universe. Walk around that police station and the video store.

But the film drags towards the and. It's too long, has too much plot. And even though I love Ian McKellan I find it weird they didn't get an actor who actually resembles Ingmar Bergmans Death character.

Are there any fan edits of this movie? Maybe some that edits it down and makes it a bit snappier?

It's the greatest cock tease opening of a movie ever.

The rest of the film is ok but a movie in the style of the opening actually being played straight would have been 10,000 times better than the overly long, 4th wall genre commentary that we got

That scene, framing wise, doesn't really make sense if you're watching it from Danny's perspective. Slater walking on top of the cop cars, legs only in view, slowly but surely in anticipation to reveal to us, Arnold's face with cigar in mouth. It's supposed to be the very end of the movie, but it's framed in such a way as to serve as the introduction of the main character to us, the audience.

Criminally underrated movie. Saw it in a nearly empty theater its first week of release and loved it immediately.

Maybe he's thought to be dead in the film when the last act kicks in and its his return?
